This Homeward Journey is a beautiful and adventurous addition to the Heart of the Mountains series, yet it is easily read as a stand alone novel, as well. This author does such a great job of creating characters that I cannot help but love and care for, faults and all.

I really enjoyed watching the two main characters, Rachel and Seth, get to know each other. Actually, I liked the entire traveling party, which included Rachel’s son, Andy, Seth’s brother, Samuel, and another companion, Elias. But

THIS HOMEWARD JOURNEY is a story of perseverance and learning to trust when life has shown you that you can't. Full of adventure, family, and romance, this is an inspirational tale historical readers are sure to enjoy.

I enjoyed reading this. There was so much heart in this story. I especially loved Rachel, Seth, and Rachel's son, as well as Seth's brother and their tour guide. I felt the chemistry between Rachel and Seth and I loved seeing their relationship develop, as well as the relationship

Author Beller has done it again. She has transported me up into the Canadian mountains, this time in warmer weather, and I was lost in the atmosphere once again. Rachel Gray is a woman with a mission and this time around she and her twelve year old son will do things their way with no man’s help. Enter the twin Grant brothers, Samuel and Seth and when they hear about a lone woman and her son wanting to cross the treacherous mountains on their own, they being the honorable men that they are step ...more

I loved this 5th book in the series! Seth and Rachel are wonderful, real to life characters with believable strengths and weakness. I stayed up into the early hours of the morning finishing it! I was captivated by each twist and turn. Thank you Misty M Beller for another “must read”.

With her ability to intricately blend character, setting and plot, Misty Beller ranks among my favorite authors of historical fiction. Each book that I’ve read has rich character depth, a world that you can literally feel, and great chemistry between the lead characters. This Homeward Journey, #5 in the Heart of the Mountain series, introduces us to two more Grant siblings, twin brothers Seth and Samuel.

I don't know why it took me so long to actually start it, and why the first couple of times I couldn't focus on the first page. It wasn't the author's fault. It was mine. I was still in a “book hangover” from the last great book I read. However, as soon as I finished the first chapter, I was hooked.

What I Loved About This Homeward Journey:
At 3% of the ebook, in the first chapter, I already saw the first mention of God. That warmed my heart. I didn’t have to wonder if it was going to be a truly

My heart was warmed from reading this book. This Homeward Journey is book 5 in the Heart of the Mountain series. Each book has been a stand alone but they all tie together through family. This is Rachel and Seth's story.

Rachel and her son Andy have traveled from Missouri headed to the Canadian Rockies to find her brother and seek a peace she has never known. Rachel has endured much pain her entire life and she has lost all trust and faith in mankind. She hopes to get into the wilderness and rai

Another captivating read by Misty Beller. This fifth book in the Heart of the Mountains series follows Simeon and Noelle’s younger twin brothers as they traverse the mountains of Montana Territory to reach their family in Canada. Surprisingly, this book takes place during the warmer months and not during the winter, like all the previous books in the series. The book can definitely be read as a stand alone, but I’m sure you’ll want to go back and read all the other books to familiarize yourself ...more

I enjoyed being a part of Rachel Gray’s journey in 1866 through the Montana Territory to Canada, seeking a new start, family, and a promising future. She doesn’t count on joining the brothers, Seth and Samuel Grant, as they travel north to their other siblings living in Canada. Yet, safety demands this decision. Rachel carries years of mistrust of men in her heart and in her outward actions. Her son Andy hasn’t had a good father role model and is a bit leery of these men.

Each time I read a book in this series I fall more in love with the way this writer creates her stories. She always has such strong and likable female characters. Rachel is determined to give her son a new life and the journey is certainly an adventure that a reader can enjoy. I love Rachel’s passion for her pursuit of a better life, her drive to be a strong mother and provider for her son is admirable.

Misty always creates a male character that is swoon-worthy. Seth is a favorite of mine now, a

It's 1866 and folks are still heading west to find their future in a land less populated. Rachel and Andy, her son, are no different, or are they...? With memories that would put most people into a state of perpetual anxiety, Rachel heads for her brother's place somewhere in Canada requiring her to travel through the mountains. With a huge dose of strength and basically no trust, they set out. Burns, rattlesnakes and kidnapping are only a few of the situations they are confronted with. Is it eve ...more

This one really held my attention and I finished it in one day. Misty Beller is a good story teller and she has created some wonderful characters here. The emotions of the characters was well done and I felt as if I were there with them, feeling their own pain and joys. Bravo!

Rachel, along with her son travels from Missouri headed to Canada to find her brother. She doesn't trust strangers and wants to be left alone. Her horrible past experiences, haunt her every day and control all her decisions.

Along the way, she runs across Seth & Samuel, two brothers, also headed to Canada to reunite with their family. Can she put aside her fear of men long enough to trust traveling with them.

Wow, a trip into and through the mountains. Doesn't sound too bad. But wait, it is made in the 1800's. But wait, it is made by a woman and her son. Well written and quite an edge of your seat situation arises to boot. I loved this 5th in the Heart of the Mountains series and highly recommend it. I received an advance reader copy from the author. Opinions are my own.

Anxious to travel by horse to Canada with her 12 year old son, Rachel sets out on her own to find her brother. She is leaving behind a late husband whose addictions caused anything but a happy life. No longer trusting she refuses to travel with some men who are going in the same path as she had planned. But things change as a close call with a bear, makes Rachel realize that there is safety in numbers.

This Homeward Journey is the fifth book in the Heart of the Mountains series by Misty M. Beller and it is a good read. It is a beautiful and captivating story of unexpected love, the importance of learning to trust one's heart again. The writing style is graceful and flows smoothly as the author tells the story of a widow alone with her young son traveling through the Montana territory to the Canadian mountains during the mid-1860s to find her brother and hopefully make a new life. I highly recommend anything that Misty writes!

Seth and Rachel both had a past that determined their destiny.  Rachel had every reason to be cautious of strangers.  She was to protect her son at all costs as well as her heart. Seth never expected to meet someone like Rachel. She changed the way he thought of his future.

Rachel was determined to reach her brother in Canada.  She was desperate to make a home that was safe for her son.  Seth came along just in the right moment to help her fulfill

Rachel didn’t trust men and she especially didn’t trust men who drank and gambled. In fact, she didn’t trust men to not drink and gamble. Her past experiences had taught her that lesson well and good. So the widow took her son on a treacherous journey into the wilderness to find her brother and seek his protection. When she met up with Seth, Samuel, and Eilas and finds herself needing their help, she only reluctantly joins their party on the trek.

Beller starts you off with immediate action and suspense, and she carries that throughout the entire book. The impact of taking on such an arduous journey is not neglected as trouble seems to come from every side. Growth of each character is realistic as they each go through their own set of trials.

Rachel has such strength. She’s fearful but not broken. The things she endured would have crushed a weaker woman. Rachel took those situations and used them to become more than she was. As a result of

The author has written a great story set in the late 1860s with vivid descriptions that help readers feel like they are there with the characters. I loved reading about the mountains and how hard it was to travel during this time period. It would be hard to travel the unknown countryside but Rachel has decided to do just that with her son Andy.

I admired Rachel's determination after getting out of an abusive marriage. She felt free for the first time, but her heart has hardened . It will take a l

I have loved this series by Misty Beller since book one. With this being book five in the series, I wasn't sure how she's keep it fresh, keep my attention, and leave me wanting more. But she has. I find each and every story a little bit better than the last, if that is even remotely possible because they are all fantastic! Here's what makes this series so wonderful - Beller writes flawed characters. They make mistakes, they learn from their mistakes, and learn the power of relying on the Lord. P ...more

This Homeward Journey is the latest book in Misty Beller's series, Heart of the Mountain, and it is great! I personally haven't read the previous 4 books but this book is definitely great as a stand alone book. I never felt lost during this book, Misty Beller found a good balance that new readers didn't feel lost but not bogged down with details for those who have read the other books. This is one of the many reasons I enjoyed this book. Misty Beller's writing style really impressed me. I found ...more

I have so enjoyed the books in the series by Misty M. Beller! I found the stories to be intriguing and engaging, so much so that I barely put them down. There’s nothing too complex about them and yet I find the characters believable and the stories enjoyable.

I think it’s the setting and the extreme differences between life today and life during these pioneering time periods that I find so interesting. Survival being the top priority and then the relational Dynamics between characters. Particular

This author has a gift of being able to weave a wonderful story around the harsh conditions of travel in the western United States and Canadian territories during the mid 1800s. I've read several of her other books and this one is as good as the others I have read.

Rachel Gray is a widow traveling with her 12 year old son, Andy. Miraculously, she has managed to make it from Missouri to Montana unharmed and now she is looking for help in getting to Canada to find her brother. She doesn't trust an

I have read many of Misty M. Beller’s books, but somehow I had missed this series. This is the fifth book in The Heart of the Mountains series. Although I had not read the previous books in this series, I had no trouble keeping up and following along with the storyline. However, I do have to say that upon finishing this book, I have already pre-ordered the sixth book in the series and bought the first book in the series, I can read through the books in order.
