Hey, I’m Amy, I write books for folks who crave laugh-out-loud paranormal mysteries. I help bring humor into readers’ lives. I’ve got a Pharm D in pharmacy, a BA in Creative Writing and a Masters in Life. And when I’m not writing or chasing around two small children (one of which is four going on thirteen), I can be found antique shopping for a great deal, getting my roots touched up (because that’s an every four week job) and figuring out when I can get back to Disney World. If you’re dying to know more about my wacky life, here are three things you don’t know about me. —In college I spent a semester at Marvel Comics working in the X-Men office. —I worked at Carnegie Hall. —I grew up in a barbecue restaurant—literally. Blissful is a ghost hunter who helps ghosts transition. She carried a grudge over not being given her dad's old job. Yes, the field may be specialized but that's not how it works. Anita takes over the role and Blissful thinks it's because of her relationship with the boss. Ok maybe, or maybe she was more qualified than Blissful. Or maybe she understands the politics of a business better.
Blissful is sarcastic, which is supposed to be part of her charm. Instead it's irritating. She'll try to push people away with her sarcasm or always has to win. She often says the wrong thing because of her sarcastic temper. Gee maybe that's the reason you didn't get the job.
Why the cute B&B guy falls for her is a mystery. So far they seem to be bebhaving angry sarcasm battles and getting on each other's nerves. Yet somehow its inst love. Nope. They seem toxic for each other. Mostly because of Blissful.
That unfortunate thing is that this series has an interesting premise. Someone talking to ghosts, helping them transition. In this book we are trying to find the killer of Neal, a guy who was set to reveal the killer of 1970s ghost Susan, aka Blissful's ghost friend.
Solving the cold case with the help of ghosts could have been fun but Bllissful makes it hard to enjoy the ride.
The next book is supposed to be the crossover with the sweet tea watches. I'm hoping that's better. Then I can officially put this series to rest and go back to Magnolia Cove, happier place with much better characters.
This was such a fun read! We get to really know all of our characters in book two. Haunted Hollows Alabama is teeming with ghost activity and Blissful Breneaux has plenty of work ready for her. Things are also heating up with our main character and Blissful, and innkeeper Roan! They are definitely becoming more than friends, and Amy Boyles always knows how to have fun with a little romance. Blissful also decided to join Alice and Ruth in their business venture, professional ghost catching! In Blissful’s latest mission our favorite ghost, Lucky Strike decides to helps and maybe Blissful can help Lucky Strike out. This book really was great and the mystery at its core is great. As we know there’s a teeny bopper ghost who follows Blissful around and in this installment we uncover who murdered her! Alice is also involved in this mystery which makes it really fun to follow. These books haven’t just caught my attention but the entire cast of characters has captured the love inside of my heart. If you want to really lose yourself in something special I really suggest you start The Southern Ghost Wrangler series. I’m excited to be closing out the year reading a series by one of my favorite authors!
"Honeysuckle Haunting" has laughs and a good cast of characters but is somewhat let down on the mystery side and I do wish that identifying the victim at the start had been a red herring rather than putting a target on him. And when a real red herring (the blank sheet of paper) is introduced later on it makes absolutely no sense. Who killed cold case investigator Neal Norton just before he was going to reveal Susan (The Teenybopper Ghost) Whitby's killer? Blissful Breneaux is hot on the trail as the police close in on her friend Alice. Neal's ghost is too annoyed by his sudden death to offers any help, so Blissful has to rely on Susan, Lucky Strike, Alice, Ruth and, occasionally, her tonsil-hockey beau Roan Storm. There's a couple of side plots - her betrayal by the Ghost Team, and the mystery of her parents - but they are more geared towards future episodes than of any great relevance in "Honeysuckle Haunting". Blissful is small and spunky while Roan is tall and calmer - when they are together it is usually time for sparks to fly. Two books in it is time to let that element slide - enough already! It's a quick read for a Summer day. 3 Stars.
Blissful is settling in in Haunted Hollow, her relationship withIn is progressing nicely as is her.friendship.with Alice and Ruth but her main points of contact are the ghosts.inhabiting the Hollow. Her main contact is.Susan a young girlmwho.was.murdered forty years.ago. A man turns up.in town on the anniversary of her murder announcing he knows the identity of her murderer and next think he is himself murdered. The Sheriff seems to think Alice is guilty as her brother was the prime suspect in Susan's murder so it's up to Blissful, Ruth and their.ghostly friends to.find.the.truth before Alice is arrested. Blissful is an engaging character, orphaned she was adopted at ten by her father (after her discovered her talent with ghosts) so she finds it very hard to.trust people and has no close.friends. But in Haunted Hollow she has found people (living and dead) she.feels.a.connection to so.decides.to stay and put down roots. Well written with a nice easy style these books flow so easily before you know it your on the.last chapter.
Another great read. Love the commando seniors. Although the culprit seemed obvious there was a nice twist at the end which gives this a nice kick. When the claim is made that the killer of Susan will be named (a murder that happened 30 years ago), Alice is distraught. Will her brother, who had been vilified into an early grave, be named. Just as the announcement is due to be made, the speaker falls down dead. Now Alice is on the run as she suspects that she will be the number one suspect. Susan decides that she doesn't want anything to do with the investigation. However to her surprise Lucky says he will help if she will aid him to pass on. Is Lucky telling her the truth about her adopted father? Will she be able to put together the clues for this old, cold case? Will the two seniors manage to evade the boys (and girls) in blue? Will she give in to her feelings for the handsome B&B owner?
The first ghost Blissful met when she came to Haunted Hollow, was Susan, the “Teenybopper ghost”. When a man comes to town and declares that he will announce who the murderer is, Blissful is surprised. She is even more surprised when he dies before he can announce the culprit, and his ghost tells her that he was murdered. Blissful’s friend Alice is a suspect for the murder, and it’s up to Blissful and her friends to prove her innocence before she can be arrested. In the meantime, Blissful learns a little more about the town she has move to, and about what her adopted father was up to before he died. A ghostly mystery, fun for everyone who likes their cozy mysteries a little spooky.
This is 5-star worthy! The murder mysteries are developed well (although finding the guilty is fairly simple), and the big reveal is enjoyable. The backstory info dump from Bliss and Roan is both charming and useful to the reader. There's grief, disillusionment, and rage, as well as flirty and comical moments (the suspect on the lam bits are too funny! ). It's great to see Blissful transition from solitary loner to having a potential beau and three buddies, even if one is living impaired😉. I'm eager for the next installment and for Blissful to get hold of her dad to give him what-for!
Just like book #1 this ghostly mystery grabbed my attention right from the beginning and I couldn't put it down. This story line was great and I absolutely loved the ghosts! Just wished Lucky Strike would have decided to stay and help Blissful. Can't wait to see what happens to the Ghost Wranglers in the next mystery. Hope it's not too long of a wait!!!
Quite an enjoyable addition to the Ghost Wrangler series. I did figure out half the mystery and should have probably realized what the whole thing was but was still fun getting there.
Some of the dialog in this book was a bit cutesy for me but not overwhelming. I will miss the one ghost. Blissful learned some troubling things. Ruth and Alice are still a hoot, and hopefully we will see the Ghost Stephen again.
This book by Amy Boyles was amazing. I loved reading it. Blissful is trying to help Alice after the cops are looking at her for murder. Lucky Strike agrees to help her in exchange for being allowed to go into the light. She realizes that her dad was using her as well as Anita. I love that she didn't just sit and cry. She stood up for herself and her friend. Susan was awesome.
It kind of annoys me when the character doesn’t get it until she is told... like really guy had an alibi, yes it could have been fake but really that was stupid. Also... duh who owned it back in the day... 🙄 other than Blissful not being good at solving things... I mean I get it... it takes a bit of time to become as good as me... lol
Lucky Strike - how's that for the name of a ghostly bad guy? This book handles a more serious theme than the first in the series but the laughs are still plentiful.
Blissful learns some hard truths about her adopted father that make her question her life so far; all while solving a 30 year old murder that leads to a death that's rather newer.
Blissful and her cohorts are learning to know each other, she is staying true to her beliefs even when faced with the lies about her life. This is a very entertaining story, mystery, romance or whatever you would like to call it. I like her and her new friends and new place.
I love this new series! Please write more books on these chapters! They are funny and endearing! Please write faster! When I know a book of hers is coming out I count down the days!
Blissful is back and this time, she’s solving the cold case of her ghost friend along with the help from her elderly friends. They bring a good sense of humor to everything. It was a good mystery, there was a bit of romance and I loved the story.
I love this series. It.has just the right amount of snark and quirkyness . How can you miss when you have a tall gorgeous in keeper , the ghost of an 'a teeny bopper and two.elderly ghost hunter? The answer you cant .
I love when I find a new author to read. Love the book. Great characters and plot. Hope to see a lot more books in this series. Highly recommend this book.
Fast moving. Held my attention and interest.Good descriptive vocabulary used But illegal search and seizure and inadmissable in court Some legal premises are lacking.
This the second book in the Series “The Southern Ghost Wranglers”. It was just as great as the first book! Interesting and fun main characters, Love Interest and Ghosts!
I am really enjoying this series! I love that Ms. Boyles has the young women matched with older spunkier women in their lives. It makes the read very enjoyable!
Such fun stories and great characters. I'm loving the way Amy Boyles writes. She has me in stitches and on the edge of my seat to find out what happens next. I plan to read every book in each series.
I really enjoyed this book! I love the characters. The idea behind this book is so unique. Like nothing I have ever read before. Thank you for writing it for your readers. I can't wait to read the next!!!😀
Blissful is a professional ghost hunter. Ruth and Alice are two geriatric friends who Bliss met when she first got into town. They became fast friends with the first murder they solved. They are all characters and there is plenty of humor.
Recovering from covid is giving me ample reading time. And this series is exactly what the dr. ordered. Great cozy. Good characters, dialogue, love interest, and a good mystery! What more can you ask for?
In this delightful tale, romance and murder bloom. The protagonist does a credible job handing errant ghosts. She solves two murders while she is at it.
