Ah the days of teenage angst. Such good times. Not really. And definitely not in My Almost. Chelsea is a young girl when she first meets Aiden at the shoe store where she works, and now he works. My Almost by Kelsey Cheyenne was a pretty powerful story of first love, true heartbreak, and the power one person can have over another. After reading the blurb, this book was nothing like I thought it would be. I thought I would be reading a boss/employee romance - and this is that but a NA version instead.

My Almost took me on an emotional ride that ripped out my heart, and I guess that I didn't pay enough attention toe that first line that says, "Not every story has a happy ending, but every story needs to be told." What a freaking book. My Almost took me on a trip down memory lane that I wasn't prepared for and may have even caused a bit of PTSD. Chelsea is relatable in the sense that most women have had their heart broken. Most women have made bad decisions when it came to falling in love, or in lust or in like, and jumped into situations with their emotions instead of reason. I'm gonna start this review by saying don't judge this book to harshly. I would love to sit here and talk badly about Chelsea but I won't. I had to put myself in her shoes and think like a 18 yr old girl. If you do that, then you'll understand why she does what she does in this book. This book was well written. I just don’t think I will read anything else by this author. I felt so depressed by this girl Chelsea’s heart break. It was so angsty. I wanted to kill Aiden. I wanted her to be smarter. She didn’t seem to understand that he was using her. I would have really wanted to know what his POV was. How can you hurt people like this and have no remorse? Aiden and Chelsea meet at work. They don’t know what to think of each other at first but one day she sees him in a different light. She falls hard and their chemistry is off the charts. He’s the first persons she’s felt so strongly for and she assumes he feels the same but does he? Is this a great release for him or does he really care?
This was an interesting read for me. I had a tough time getting into the story due to Chelsea and how she behaved. I get that as the story started she was finishing her senior year and transitioning after... but at times... her decisions just bothered me. There were many times the writing of the book just threw me out of the story and I felt that I had to force myself to keep going. Maybe it was the angst... maybe it was her age and decisions... but this was a tough read for me.
This story could be one of my girls that is how much real life it reads.

This was a wonderfully told story of love and heartbreak. We’re taken along with Chelsea on her journey, a journey many of us have been on and in her shoes, fighting head and heart in a relationship where one person is more invested than the other. Chelsea’s and Aiden’s story is relatable, and is an emotional roller coaster journey from beginning to end. This is a well written story which is heartbreaking, humorous, emotional, and realistic. I was intrigued throughout this realistic tale where not everybody gets their happy ever after, and look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I recommend for all.

We have all been there and have done it - fallen for the one person who you shouldn't. Suffer from heartbreak, sadness and the wishing of what could have been. Kelsey Cheyenne hits the nail on the head with her rendition of love, heartbreak and the aftermath of it in My Almost. If you are looking for a happy, typical romance novel - this is not the book for you.

This is not your typical romance. Theres no happily ever after. Kelsey has made a magical book from a painful part of her past. This story is so real and emotional. It's not a love story, and it's not going to make you feel warm and fuzzy, but it reminds you of the real world. You remember we all thought we loved someone once, and when it ended it hurt. Let me first start by saying I usually stick to Contemporary Romance and I typically expect a HEA (unless it’s from an author like Nicholas Sparks where I’m prepared for it to go either way). It’s kind of obvious just from the title and cover alone that there won’t be one, UNLESS it comes out of left field and shocks the hell out you.

I wanted to love this book, I really did, I just did not feel any real emotional connection to the main character.
Her writing draws you in and keeps you involved throughout the whole story.

Sorry this was not for me. I gave one star because I kept reading to the end. I felt so sorry for this girl. She was being used and didn’t see it. It was sad. Even at the end of the book 7 years after the end of her relationship she didn’t see she was being used.

This is one of the most honest and heart breaking stories I’ve ever read. Quite possibly one of the best books I’ve ever had on my Kindle. Simply amazing!!!

Ok, truth time. 18-year-old Carmel was a mess. She was young and naive and she trusted people she shouldn't have. She loved people she shouldn't have. She did things she shouldn't have done. My Almost was like reading an entry in 18-year-old Carmel's diary.
