About the author

Camilla d’Errico is a product of her split heritage, Italian and Canadian rolled into one: Italian fiestiness, Canadian politeness, and an early addiction to Saturday morning cartoons, comics and manga. Growing up she was more often doodling sexy damsels and dragons on her textbooks than reading them. In 1998 when Camilla first attended her first San Diego Comic Con she realised that a 9–5 day job would kill her and this was what she wanted to do. Thanks to her relentless energy, dedication, and just enough sleep deprivation, she has followed her dream of working creatively for a living.

Camilla’s unique style continues to be in demand and her client list includes Dark Horse Comics, Image Comics, Random House, Tokyopop, Hasbro, Disney, Sanrio, Neil Gaiman and she also works with video game and movie companies on character development. Her own characters and properties, Tanpopo and Helmetgirls, are loved by fans and followers and now inspire Cosplay costumes. She has successfully merchandised and licensed her beautiful artwork across a variety of categories: clothing, stationery and gift, accessories, art prints, etc. and continues to expand her licensing program. Her emotive and eloquent paintings have propelled her to the top of the ranks of the New Contemporary art movement, and she is represented by Opera Gallery of New York.

Autorkę, Camillę d'Errico, wiele osób może kojarzyć z wydanej już w Polsce serii kolorowanek "Pop Manga". W tym najnowszym tytule artystka odkrywa karty i udziela wielu cennych wskazówek początkującym rysownikom. Jej uwagi są konkretne, zrozumiałe, a wszystkie przedstawione rysunki można odtworzyć krok po kroku. Zaczynamy oczywiście od najważniejszych pojęć dotyczących m.in. rodzajów ołówków czy papieru, potem przebiegają już coraz trudniejsze lekcje.

Myślę, że "Pop Manga Drawing" to świetny pomysł dla wszystkich, którzy mają ochotę spróbować swoich sił w sztuce rysowania pop surrealizmu. Prace d'Errico są fascynujące, a wszelkie zdobyte przez nią nagrody w pełni zasłużone. Polecam, dla zainteresowanych to bardzo przydatna pozycja.

Another great book

I've learned something from every one of her books. I enjoy the conversation she has, taking you on a journey from basic onwards building upon previous knowledge. I got this one on accident, I thought I was getting her color pop manga book that I have in hardcopy already but it's at home and I'm away for a few weeks, I missed my book so I grabbed the ebook... I thought... Instead I got this one and I'm glad! It's still her same style teaching, same style drawing, this time it's just focused on the drawing/sketch not the colored painted piece. Super happy I ended up with this!

I have a love/hate relationship with step by step art books as they are generally impossible to follow or replicate any of the work. This is one of the better step by step art books and at least has some explanation on the techniques used in between steps. Camilla's work is amazing and it's fun to see the break down of some of her work. This book woukd be great for anyone who would like to draw fantastical creatures with cute girls and boys.

I LOVE this authors artwork and I have a lot of her coloring books so I thought this book was very informative ad had good tools about drawing materials and inspiration for your art. This is not my style of artwork but it is very cool to step into someone else’s head and see how they create.
