After the AlphaGo versus Lee Sedol match, interest in the game of go has increased. For better international communication among go players, this reference book of go terminology is categorized in four sections:
Technical Terms, General Terms, Proper Nouns, and Proverbs.
The terms used in other board games or sports are included in the General Terms section, while ones used only in baduk or having a special meaning in baduk are in the Technical Terms section.
In this book's preface, author Chihyung Nam takes pains to explain that this is not a second edition of her previous book 'Contemporary Go Terms'... but even though the format has changed and the number of entries increased, I cannot help feeling that this is the second edition of her prior book. [Sorry!]
Like most go books published in English, there is a smattering of typos. To be expected! But overall I found many nuggets of useful information embedded in what appears, on the surface, to be a go-specific multi-language dictionary [English/Japanese/Chinese/Korean].
The examples are well-chosen. I especially enjoyed the proverbs section. And each language has it's own index, keeping the book useful for cross-cultural communication between go players.
