This fascinating 3-D presentation provides the reader with an in-depth, hands-on exploration of a great white shark.

In Uncover a Shark , a detailed, three-dimensional format gives the reader a hands-on exploration of the most feared predator of the seas—the great white shark. This unique "model" can be deconstructed and rebuilt layer by layer, system by system, just by turning the page, so the reader can see how each part of the shark's body is connected to the others. By combining a 3-D model with informative text and illustrations, Uncover a Shark helps children understand how sharks have come to rule the world's oceans.

The model is very well done; as you turn each page some parts are removed and the next page focuses on the new top layer. Legomeister loves it. The information is very interesting, not oversimplified, but broken up into small, digestible chunks.

Warning: with constant use and abuse the model will break. This one has one particularly heavy piece that's starting to fall off the delicate bits of plastic that hold it in place. We have had it a couple of years. It was so worth it.

A really excellent book. This is a 3D adventure into shark anatomy. As you turn the pages, more parts of the anatomical model of a shark become revealed and isolated. It's a great way for children to learn about anatomy -- descriptions are pitched at the right level -- and it's also great for adults coming from non-biological backgrounds to start to understand how the various systems come together in a shark. A great idea and a real educational resource.
