Barry Litton has ridden into town. Even more interesting, the town has two feuding families.
Barry quickly insults them both, in public.
Seeming to only be spoiling for a fight. Yet a hidden motive and grudge may be behind it.
This will lead to him having to face his most dangerous rival.
A man he truly fears, from his past.
Max Brand is maybe the western author with the most written stories.
At times, some of his characters seem to large for life. Maybe due to when he wrote.
Some of his sayings may not fit in with the more modern reader.
Still he is a master at painting a character, scene or background. With a minimum of words needed.
To bring it to the readers minds eye.
Along with Louis L'amour and Zane Grey. He should be considered, one of the greatest.
Writing, in the early 1900's. In the early 2000's new books, where still being printed.
From his vast efforts.
If you enjoy the western genre.
You need to give this author a serious look.

The book was about a longhorn that two different guys wanted. The sheriff took it so they would stop fighting over it. This reminds me of when I was littler me and Mitch would argue over what cow we were going to have. Are dad said we couldn't have it until we decided who was going to get it. Now we each have our own cows.

Reading pulp writers to try to undstand why they were popular. This Western is suprisingly good, and not at all filled with cliches.
