Running from Love

Rate this book

Jennifer is having some pretty hard luck with the dating scene lately. Not even her closest friends could help her out of the rut she’s been in, after her bad break up with her last beau, Derrick. But, thanks to one of her devoted girlfriends, Laila, and the hot new dating app on the market, DateNight, Jennifer just might have a good chance, and another shot, at love.

That is, until fate finally throws a bone her way. Into her hectic and loveless life walks Aiden, who could have only been sent Jennifer’s way by the dating gods. A gentleman of high reproach, Aiden quickly sweeps Jennifer off her feet, and into his own life.

But, this fairy tale romance may not be all that it seems to Jennifer. Sure, there’s the flowers, the dinners and the earth-quaking sex, but there’s also a secret or two that Aiden is keeping from Jennifer, which may end their perfect relationship forever.

While Jennifer does need to protect her heart from Aiden’s secret, she knows that she can’t keep Running from Love forever.

Getting Caught

Running was the most operandi for the heroine. When she finally met her one, it was not as she expected. A little drama and some good loving added the freshness to the storyline. A very good novel to sit back and enjoy on a Sunday afternoon.

Love With Caution

I loved Jennifer from her time at college with Laila, Nicole and Monica. Her story was heart wrenching, yet I'm glad she didn't let her trauma take a hold of her and drive her into misery. I think her time in college let her explore beyond and thankfully she dated guys who were rather nice. Out of all the friendships, I liked her and Laila's the most, so it was surprising that she talked to Nicole a lot in this book, when in college they weren't the closest.

As we explore her life after college, I'm glad that she's attempting to move on from an unfulfilling relationship that probably lasted way longer than it should. I was thinking her ex, Derrick, would try to pop back into her life as the book progressed, yet the fact that he never makes a reappearance speaks volumes to how strong of a bond they actually had. I like that we get to see new friends, Bri and Erica. Although Erica has been friends with Jennifer since grade school, I don't remember her coming up in the series about Jennifer's college days. I like how no nonsense Erica is and she seems like a lot of fun and a loyal friend. I like Bri too, even though it seems like she's more of a work only friend to Jennifer.

The whole Dating App and speed dating is not something I'm too familiar with, yet it sounds interesting. I liked that the App only let you get the other person's actual contact info AFTER the date night event and only if you matched with the person. It's some crazy people in the world, so that added safety and privacy was appealing. The event was funny and although they never connected, after actually matching but some glitch in the system didn't match them, I would've liked to see how a dare with 'M'Baku' as she called him, and Jennifer would've went. Guess it wasn't meant to be🤷🏾‍♀️.

I really liked Aiden. At first, I was thinking he would have a secret girlfriend or just want something casual bc he seemed too good to be true, yet he was just reserved and cautious due to his wealth. I kind of didn't understand why Jennifer was upset that he didn't tell her that he was the owner of his tech business, not just a worker, yet after the debacle with his gold digging ex, I understood why he was reserved. I think once Jennifer realized how foolish she was about the whole thing, that she could see his reason for being hesitant. In his eyes, he was just an employee bc he was doing the work he loved; not the boss just ordering people around. I'm glad they were able to get passed it bc I really liked them together.

The whole ordeal with Jennifer moving to Dallas to help with her jobs new office was great for her career wise, yet not her love life. I was hoping she would talk out all her reservations with Aiden, instead of just breaking up with him due to her possibly being jealous. Either way, Aiden was so loving with it all, yet gave her the space she needed to sort out whatever was going on with her. He was optimistic and was 1 step ahead of her. I'm glad he showed up in Dallas, ready to get his woman back. I was glad Jennifer was willing to go with her heart and be honest about her apprehension of their long distance relationship. Aiden, being the boss, made major boss moves. He obviously loved Jennifer and made it to where they'd be together and he could expand his business...Boss Moves😏.

I loved the updates from all of the friends. I'd read about Monica after college, before I initially read about all of their college days, and that part was fun to read about. I loved that they all still have a bond and that Tanya is as much in the fold, as if she'd been with their crew all 4 years in the dorms and their apartment. Their bond is still strong and I Love that it hasn't wavered, simply bc they don't live with or near each other.

The bachelorette festivities for Laila was fun to read; so glad the author gave us that.

I loved getting to catch up with Jennifer. As stated, she was one of my favs of their crew and I'm glad she's getting Love and Happiness.

Great read.

My first book by this author...not a bad read...more like a 3.5 rating...sweet quick romance but just a bit slow and repetitive w/our heroines issues...I thought Aiden and Jennifer made a cute couple and I just hated to see Jen’s baggage consume the storyline...Aiden was DEFINITELY a keeper despite withholding certain aspects of his true livelihood. I thoroughly enjoyed the camaraderie of Jen and her girls and hope for a follow up w/Aiden and Jen...also maybe some of her girls finding their HEA as well. I might read another book by Mrs. J. Nichole if I find the storyline captivating enough.

The Ending

You started out good. I was into the book until the end. What kind of ending was that? There has to be more to the storyline than this ending you gave. What happened? I am truly disappointed. Did you get bored or tired of writing and just said, eh, I will end it here and let the readers come to their own conclusion. WOW! I dont know if I even want to pick up another one of your books. I am picky and it took me a minute to choose your book and I must say, I chose wrong on this one.

Aiden and Jennifer's story was really good. I liked their first encounter and how they quickly became consumed with one another. I was shocked to find out Aiden owned the dating app but I understood why he left out details about his position in the company. I liked that Jennifer was a dance teacher and dedicated her time to teaching. I did feel like the epilogue came rather abruptly but I still enjoyed this novel. I'm so glad Aiden & Jennifer stayed together and that he bought the dance studio for her.

This was a good qick read for me. It drew me in at the start because the character is from another book. I like it when authors do that because it lets you see what happens to characters from their other books. In this one you learn more about Jennifer from Freshman Fifteen. She has issues with relationships. Whenever things get hard she's out, I could relate to that. But then along comes Aiden...

Great read definitely recomending to all to read.

Confused with Love, therefore I am Running

I'm a Christian, so I am a little critical on the raw sex between two people who have not solidified their relationship by knowing each other first before becoming physical. But, I did lighten up on J Nicole, because she didn't say it was Christian fiction. With that said, it was a good read and a great story. I only wish it could have completed with Aiden and Jennifer marriage. I would recommend this as a good read.

She wanted passion and she thought he would give it to her. He had everything else, looks, money and intelligence but not the passion. So she left him. Now she has found one with passion and he is hiding a secret. What will he do? Will he tell her? See what will happen

Loved it!

This is such a good book. Jennifer had a issue that made it hard for her to trust men. She basically runs in relationships if she feels like there will be a obstacle. In comes Aiden. (My Bae) it’s something about Aiden. I was rooting for him from the start. He was so sweet, patient, and thoughtful. Great book

Wasn't my cup of tea

This was just alright. It was kinda of well written, but it was boring as hell. I was skipping over pages just get to the good parts, but it wasn't a really good and juicy part. If you like Sienna Mynx, Mallory Monroe, Love Belvin or authors like that you're not going to like this at all. BORING BORING BORING......

Nice

It was a nice and easy read. I need to drink more coffee or tea so I can bump into me an Aiden. Sweet, courteous, generous, intelligent and rich I’d go to Starbucks everyday if I could find me one. Truly liked the book.

Beautiful story

I loved this book. Jennifer felt like such a real person. Too often, I read books where the characters aren't as developed. I love that you gave just enough information of previous life events to add depth, but not so much that it took away from the story.

Loved it!!

This was such a great story. Love the vulnerability of each character. I love that Jennifer continue quest and didn’t let Aiden offer sway her. Realistic scenarios that are very relatable. Keep them coming.

Grow Up

I fussed through this whole book…Jennifer got on my nerves. Aiden did fail to tell her some pertinent information but he had his reasons. Based on that she just flaked regularly. It was ridiculous and he was a good man!

Love without an App

By letting nature take its course Jennifer's love connection came out better than expected. Aiden's needed that love connection. There story was worth the read.
