About the author

Jerry Bruce Jenkins is an American novelist and biographer. He is best known as the writer of the Left Behind series of books for Tim LaHaye and The Chosen novels to accompany his son Dallas's TV series. Jenkins has written more than 200 books, including mysteries, historical fiction, biblical fiction, cop thrillers, international spy thrillers, and children's adventures, as well as nonfiction. His works usually feature Christians as protagonists. In 2005, Jenkins and LaHaye ranked 9th in Amazon.com's 10th Anniversary list of Hall of Fame authors based on books sold at Amazon.com during its first 10 years. Jenkins now teaches writers to become authors here at his website. He and his wife Dianna have three sons and eight grandchildren.

Again, with very light “language”, which was nice! I’m still very much into the whole rebel plot of this book. (You would think that the teachers would realize, however, that the more you say something is banned, the more the kids will want to do it. That’s just common teenager logic.)
I will say that I highly disagree with dogs being left behind in the rapture, though. That was the most annoying part of this book. Overall, “The Underground” was a good one for laying the plot for future books in the series. ;)

This was an enjoyable read. The Young Tribulation Force are now going back to school. It is different because they have God by their side. Also, they are trying to get more Youth to believe in God. I really thought Vicki grew up in this book as we see her fight for her beliefs. I hope she can help bring her friends and teachers to God. The paper seems to be really annoying the school. Also, I did not like the fact that a teacher confiscated a Bible and called it "Dangerous Material." I think the school is taking away the student ability to express their freedom. I think the newspaper's name is intriguing. I want to know why they called it The Underground. I can't wait to read Book 7. Overall, a great read.

This book is about how Judd, Viki, Lionel, and Ryan write and publish a newspaper about the disappearances, bible verses, and stories about god. But it has to be a secret newspaper because it is against school rules to talk about god.How will they get the word out about god?

I liked this book because it was a type of book that keeps you on the edge of your seat while still talking about the lord. Now there were some bad things to this book. Sometimes in a story I like to see someone get caught so you can read the struggles to get out of the situation. But in this book they're so close to getting caught but they always get out of it.

If your a type of person who likes reading about people who were left behind from the rapture and how they learn about god, then I recommend this book/series.

In this book the kids are distributing the newspapers while an Old Testament Prophecy
is revealed before their eyes. They make many heist to distribute the truth. Others began reading and
believing in which it caused many disapprovals and has the school administration in an uproar. They are
accompanied by friends named John and Mark who are committed to help them with the Tribulation
Force and other things like that. Vicky meets back up with her old friend Shelly who suffers PTSD
with the disappearances. Her mother who is a drug addict didn't watch over her daughter and she
overdoses on medicine. Then taken to the hospital and prayed. She got saved and Vicki went back to
school to learn that the Underground paper is being found out and they utilize beepers to communicate.
When Vicki is ratted out by her friends mother for the bounty they have on their heads, they are busted
and have to escape somehow. The date they were busted was a friday and the Anti-Christ scheduled the
signing of the peace treaty (The Sign of the beginning of the 7 Year Tribulation) on Monday. Their
goals is to make sure everyone is right with Christ by then.

The Young Trib Force has started school again and were inspired to write a secret underground news paper that talks about God. It has info for anyone who really wants to know why everyone disappeared. The thing is is that religion and religious beliefs related to the vanishings are banned from the school. The kids could get in serious for what they are doing. I hate that the book ends in a sort of cliff hanger because I can't wait to read the next book. The book are really good at including fact and fiction which make it informing and fun to read at the same time. This book kept me on my toes the entire time because of all the secretive stuff that was going on. I didn't want anyone to get caught or maybe they did. You'll have to read to find out. ;)

I can’t believe the school is getting mad at the kids for the newspaper. They are doing so good with getting it out to people. Vicki was almost caught but I think she is good now. At least I hope. She said she left alone at the end of the book. I hope the boys explain to her why they walked the other way.

Please read this book. I am really liking these. This was the last book, Libby has so I'll have to read mine until I get to the end I don't have the complete series

Hi, I have read up to book #31 so far and LOVE them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think the idea of the ‘Underground’ is a great idea.
Don’t give up hope for Shelly or Tom Fogarty, God is going to work in their life’s.

I have now read six of the left behind books. The series is written by Jerry B. Jenkins, is about four young characters and what their lives are like after the rapture. The rapture has always fascinated me and it's interesting to hear about it from a teens perspective. Even though the series has been interesting, I don't see myself finishing it.

The sixth book “The Underground” has been my least favorite. The book is focused on the teens going back to school. They are told that they are not allowed to talk about Christ because of the “separation of church and state.” The teens realize they need to tell others about Christ so they start writing a newspaper called “The Underground.” I thought the idea was cool but not the name. The underground make me think of the underground railroad. They could have thought of a better name. Later in the book, a teen named Shelly joined the group. I felt she was unnecessary. Her only purpose was when her mother told the principle that Vickie was trying to “brainwash” her. When I first started reading the book I thought it was interesting. As I continued to read, I felt it was too cheesy. An example is when Ryan found his dog and brought it to Judd’s house. When they are talking about possible names Lionel recommends Rapture and Vickie recommends Ashes. I thought it was an interesting choice to name your dog rapture when you were left behind. The teens then decided to name the dog Phoenix. I thought this was incredibly predictable and I wanted to stop reading the book. The end of the book was also predictable. The teens think Vickie told the principal about the Underground. I wish it would have ended on a cliffhanger. Honestly, I cannot see myself finishing the series. I have become bored with the series and wish I would have read the adult series instead.

I recommend this book to young children who are interesting in the rapture. I do not recommend this book to older readers, they may find it boring. I felt the series had too much detail about the children's lives. I wish it would have explained more about worldly the events that were taking places. If you don't know much about the rapture I recommend reading the book of First Thessalonians in the Bible.

The Underground by Jerry B. Jenkins is the 6th book in the left behind books. The kids have an excellant idea of how to spread the truth when the schools band any talk about God.
A newspaper! So that's what they do. But the teachers start confiscating copies. They even bring in the police. Two boys at the school, John and Mark, agree to help. Shelly, Vicki's friend, decides she wants to become a Christian too. But when Shelly's mom tells on Vicki, the whole group may be sent to jail.
This book shows how alot of schools react to Christianity. I have heard of schools where people can do anything religious, but when a Christian comes along and carries a Bible around school they get suspended. These books are written well and really do make you think. People can't expect other people to just give their lives to Christ just because you talk to them, and some people think they are safe if they die because they act good or they think God is to nice to not let anyone enter into Heaven. Like when Shelly told Vicki she just wanted to die, even though she wasn't saved she thought she had a good chance of going to Heaven. She didn't understand anything abouut praying, which is why she called Vicki before she O.D. on pills. If Vicki hadn't been there, Shelly would have died and went to an unfriendly place.

The courage to fight for things that you believe is true, may takes many things in your life, but that's the price that should be paid to show how much you love HIM. That's the responsibility of being human. We are blessed not only with instinct and mind but also with the ability to listen to the voice of our heart and the desire to know GOD and HIS way. In Christianity, that ability comes only from the existence of The Holy Spirit. The will to give their all to GOD no matter what is the strongest message of this book.

This book has the Young Trib Force making a newspaper underground to spread the word of God. They get the 1st copy's out and they soon get thrown away. On the 2nd copy distrubution they get caught but narrowly escape. Near the end Vicki gets caught. Will she get out of it?

I liked reading this book. It had a lot of suspense as to what would happen to the kids. It left a huge cliffhnager though

This young adult series was not that good. You need to read the series in order to understand what was going on in the books. I felt that it wasn't written that well and not sure who it would appeal to. The main characters are high school students, but the reading level of the book is about 4th grade reading level. The topics are very high school (and maybe upper middle school) level. Very religious and almost too much to enjoy the fiction book.

In this sixth outing, Judd, Lionel, Vicki, and Ryan produce a newspaper called The Underground so that they can spread the real story behind the mass disappearances to their classmates. However, such material is banned by the school administration, and their newsletter could have dire consequences.

Content Concerns: The cliffhanger ending is a bit intense; that's about it.
