(Don't worry if you can't read the pale-blue on white. See https://www.goodreads.com/review/show..., where it's helpfully transcribed. And note that Laura's characterization of the guys as "soft" must be some Aussie-to-Yank mistransmission. They're both of them tough in all the right ways.)(less)

This is such a sweet story about Charlie and Nick's developing friendship and feelings. I loved how supportive Nick was in both being a friend and a teammate to Charlie, and in turn, I liked how this wasn't really a story about Charlie coming to terms with his sexuality; he was already out and proud, and he was just grappling with feelings for this supposed straight guy. I ...more
Most people in school seem to know that Charlie is gay. He’s taken some bullying for it, and it’s toyed with his self-esteem and what he thinks he deserves in terms of relationships, but for the most part, life isn’t too bad.
One day Charlie gets assigned to a new classroom and sits next to Nick Nelson, who is a grade ahead of him. Nick is tall, muscular, popular, ...more
This was my first graphic novel and it was so damn cute!
Charlie and Nick are one school year apart, they've never spoken before until they are seated next to each other in their tutor group.
Soon their acquaintance evolves into friendship. Charlie joins the school rugby team that Nick is on and they realise they have more in common than they first thought.
There is so much more to this book than meets the eye. Characters discovering their sexuality, dealing with bullying and ...more

this was so lovely, and it's not even over!!!!!! the story follows nick & charlie and honestly i am just so blessed by them and this comic.
it's a simple comic about friendship & discovering your sexuality.
the reading format was a little strange to get used to for me (lots of scrolling) but the art work was SO DAMN CUTE. the story was cute and the art work was just perfectly suited to it.
all in all, you gotta read this. not much else to say.
(view spoiler)[ im just kidding.
this book was so adorable and precious and it made my heart whole

I have been hearing great things about this author and since it is Pride month, I thought it was the perfect chance to try her books, I finished this and I am currently reading I Was Born For This. I found that this is cute as many readers said it would be but for me it was just that, a cute graphic novel that did not blow up my brain!
I recently read the Check, please comic and Fence. The ...more
I guess I should preface my review by mentioning that I'm not exactly really into graphic novels. I've read Saga Volume 1 and The Complete Maus and that's it since childhood when I did read the Beano comic whenever I could (which wasn't that regular an occurrence) and ...more
To begin with, the characters are ridiculously lovable. Nick and Charlie are two precious cinnamon rolls, and they’ll be locked in your heart from the very beginning. What is more, they actually have a healthy relationship, in which they talk about their feelings (and no one gets pressured to come out before they’re ready!).
What I love especially is that problematic characters get called out, and it’s apparent to everyone that they’re in ...more
a new favorite book of all time? one hundred fucking percent.
this graphic novel just meant so much to me. like, an incredible amount. it was adorable, and real, and important and it resonated with me on so many levels. i’m about to get a bit personal (maybe overly so) but i really trust the people on this platform and feel like word vomiting instead of writing an actual review so here we go.
so three main things about this book really hit me: one, the ...more
Book #7 for The Reading Rush: Read an entire book in the same spot.
July 28th, 2019: I had originally chosen The Titan's Curse by Rick Riordan for this challenge but then it was suddenly 8pm on the last day of the readathon and I still had 180 pages left of it which is why I decided to change up my tbr and reread Heartstopper Vol. 1 instead. And I have to say that this was probably ...more

This is the first webcomic I’ve read in my life and I am absolutely in love with it!!! I love the content of this webcomic. This taught me more about the lgbtq+ community, being comfortable with one's self, being open and proud with your sexuality, being happy with who you are and who you want to be.
