When Jace moves in with Amy to protect her from a predator, romance blooms, and Amy wonders who will protect her heart.
Denver’s Average Amy does TV reviews for the latest trends, but when her name ends up on a human trafficking website, life feels anything but average. Especially when old crush turned hot Navy SEAL Jace Burns shows up at her door offering protection. Protection from who? What? And did she already mention hot? Jace Burns is known for his fearless nature. He’s risked his life overseas, endured time as a prisoner of war, and was even presumed dead. Too bad all that goes out the window when he comes face to face with Amy Nelson. He hadn’t paid close attention to her in high school but he’s paying attention now.
While romantic sparks fly and the danger begins to grow, one question fills Amy’s mind: Are Jace’s feelings real, or is he using her to help take down the threat?
USA Today Bestselling author Kimberly Krey is known as the Queen of Steamy Clean Romance. She's a fervent lover of God, family, and cheese platters, as well as the ultimate hater of laundry. Her readers count on faith-filled romance novels that stay clean without losing the steam.
This author always does such a great job of incorporating a sweet romance with a pretty creepy suspense. The big threat in this book is human trafficking and I really appreciated the author's efforts in bringing this serious threat in real life to light. It is brought to awareness in a tasteful way.
Amy works for a TV station and finds herself on a hit list. Enter Jace, a Navy SEAL, who is with a group intent on bringing this trafficking group down. I loved that these two had a slight connection in high school and the sparks from the past burst into flames in the present. What a swoony romance!
The tension is high in this story, from both the romance and the danger, leaving me on edge and eager to see how it would all resolve. I adored ALL of the characters, but especially Jace and Amy. The ultimate culmination of events was amazing, action-packed, and intense--I loved it.
I think that right there is enough of a positive endorsement that you should read this book but I guess I'll try to drum up a few more complete sentences just in case you need more.
I loved that Jace and Amy have history. They knew each other before, in high school, so their attraction wasn't something new. It provided a fun starting point when they cross paths again. Yay for zingy attraction and yummy kisses. Jace just oozes manly strength, with the smarts to back it up. He's playing for keeps and it's so attractive.
Also, the main character's name is Amy Nelson. That's pretty much my name (first name spelled a little different, and before I was married, but still) Every time I read it, it just felt so weird. My name. In my head. But not me. haha
This is the perfect book to snatch up when you are looking for romantic "take me away" story. The added bit of light suspense was bonus for me. I loved it.
Content: mild violence, human trafficking, kissing
- I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.
Every once in a while, I want to read a fun romantic suspense and I knew Ms. Krey would have a good romance and fun suspenseful story so I jumped into this one without reading anything about it. I was quickly sucked into the story and enjoyed reading it while we were on a road trip yesterday. It was a fun way to pass the time. I liked the characters, setting and storyline. I liked that even though its the last in the series, it stands well on its own. I do want to go read the other books now though!
This is a love story with outstanding message for change and way to fight back against the evil in this world and just maybe help save or change a life by reading a book or helping in others ways and you get to enjoy great characters and heartwarming romance.
I love SEAL romances. This is a new-to-me author. So I wasn’t sure she was up to the other SEAL authors. This author kept me turning pages until my eyes closed. I read or play games in bed before I go to sleep. Sometimes I read a lot and sometimes very little. I grabbed the book first thing the next morning and didn’t stop reading until I was finished with the book. Clean romance with a good amount of suspense. LOVED IT.
After facing rejection as a youth, Jace Burns joins the Navy and becomes a SEAL. When a name he knows from his past comes up on a human trafficking website, he goes in to protective mode, but what who's going to protect their hearts? I was captivated from the first page and couldn't put it down. A wonderful second chance romance!
This book is so great. I loved the chemistry between Jace and Amy. Although it addressed the very real topic of human trafficking, it did so in an appropriate manner.
Cute, sweet romance. After the other books I was expecting Jace to be a lot more of a player, which wasn’t the case, but the book had enough steam and I definitely enjoyed it! Great read!
Once again a wonderful SEAL story involving romance but sadly dealing with human traffickers. I would like to think there would be more of this style stories
5 stars! This is a wonderful romance with edge-of-your-seat suspense.
As a member of Omega Sector, Jace Burns was trying to shut down a human trafficking site. So when he saw Amy Nelson's name on the site, he was furious! He'd had a crush on her in high school, but never did anything about it. Now she is to be kidnapped and sold to the highest bidder!!! Not on his watch! As an ex-SEAL protecting people is what he does. So he went to see Amy to do just that and, hopefully, find the person responsible for the human trafficking scheme.
As Amy and Jace worked together to take down the group, their feelings resurfaced. They were crazy about each other but kept their feelings hidden. I liked this pair together. Their romance had me grinning all the time. It was so cute to see how worried Jace was on their date - should he kiss her or not? Both of these characters were strong and capable but insecure at the same time. They were much more relatable because they weren't perfect.
Kimberly's polished writing really shines through in this book. She brought a serious issue into this story, making us aware of the problem but not in a scary way. Even with such a heartbreaking topic, I loved this book.
OMG, the ending was wonderful. I am so lucky to have been given this book in consideration of my honest thoughts, which I am happy to give.
Seriously, this was a great book and I highly recommend it to romantic suspense fans.
Right off the bat I was so nervous about this story. I do not do human trafficking books. They get under my skin, I just dont enjoy them. So I was pleasantly shocked when I liked this one. The characters were great, Jace in particular. Amy brought the story down a little for me and here is why. Her insecurity in men using her. It became a little obnoxious and honestly in my opinion unwarranted. Granted her ex Clay was trying to use her TV segment to get his business highlighted. Ok, so he used her. Then she was all hung up on how a guy in junior high just dated her (for under a month) to try and get sex. Well yeah, he's a teenager boy, its no shocker there are some of those out there. That being said I don't think it justifies her being so freaking paranoid about being used. Jace gave her no reason to doubt or mistrust him so by the time the book was coming to a close and she was still doubting him, it really started to bug me. If the story hadn't been so well written and Jace and his team so likeable I might have rated it 3 stars just bc of her constant self doubt and mistrust.
I think this book is well written and it takes on a tough subject in human trafficking. If only all traffickers could be taken down like this book shows. I liked the characters but it kept bugging me that Jace wasn't all professional despite his feelings for her. Since they based their attraction to each other on flirting in high school and one almost kiss I feel like the attraction during the story was pretty much hormonal and not based on anything beyond physical attraction. And while that can grow as they go through time, they were both thinking about kissing each other before they spent any time together. I didn't enjoy that aspect of the story.
The intrigue was good and interesting. We got enough of the picture to understand how horrible trafficking is but the story didn't get bogged down in the ugliness. I was spurred on to finish this book, not because of the romance but because of the intrigue. I wanted to see how the sting would play out and it was very satisfying.
Sex: tongue action kisses Language: no Violence: yes
The Fearless Warrior - Average Amy is anything but average. She engages her audience with humor and wit. She's a hit in the Denver market and being noticed in other areas as well. Unfortunately, the dark underworld of human trafficking has also taken notice. Jace is determined to bring down the trafficking ring but now that his high school crush is their target, his determination is laced with desperation. Emotions run high as feelings that were never explored in their youth rush to the surface. The suspense is present throughout the book. A great finish for the latest group of warriors.
This story starts out with a team of former special ops men who after their active duty to on to help bring in bad guys. This one was about kidnapping and selling of female for prostitution. But when one of the team realises that he knows the next victim things take a turn. This female happens to be the one he let go. He backed off from her before any feelings for hurt. He joined the Navy and became a SEAL. Now he is back in town to protect her. Will he be able too or will she end up disappearing?
I have mixed feelings about this book. I love the love story. I love the fight against human trafficking. In the face of this devastatingly evil growing thing, I love the happy ending. I love the yummy sexiness and swoon-worthy male. What I did have a hard time with was how fast and easy it was. It didn't seem real. However, having said this I understand the light nature with such horrible evil of the content. All in all a good story.
This one was a little steamier than I usually read. Quite a bit of innuendo. Kissing with tongue. Important topic of human trafficking. It had a different feel than the other books in the series written by different authors. I didn't like it as well as the other books in the series. Lots of confusing of characters names. The action/suspense part of the story was very well written. Had depth and flowed well. I won't read this one again.
Great story, great series on life, love and intrigue. The telling of a trafficking ring at any time is a subject that we all should pay attention to. This is happening all over the world and needs to be stopped, the sooner the better. This was a free read and this is my review and mine alone. Norma Gorrill
This was my favorite of the series so far. I really liked the pacing and the fact that Amy and Jace have known each other for a while. Contains: talk of human trafficking, mentions of God and prayer (not preachy), kisses, mild violence
Jace and Amy have known each other since high school. But now they are meeting because of the horrific subject of human trafficking. They will work to stop some of it and fall in love too.
An exciting and moving story that is filled with intrigue, mystery, danger and fear. A really touching love story that makes me smile and be grateful for this this amazing author.
Awesome story, loved the characters and the topic of human trafficking was very well explained and solved in this case. Appreciate the story line and a good over evil triumph
This book was a very enjoyable story with charismatic characters. There was romance along with mystery and a threat of danger and of course, a happy ever after.
A bit of a second chance romance. I really enjoyed the human trafficking theme in this book. The characters were great - I always loved seeing the other SEALs.
