Much warmth in this brief memoir -- Merce Cunningham was not just a teacher to Marianne but a dear friend. Frequent asides, photographs and postcards made me feel less like I was reading a book and more like Preger-Simon was telling me her story over lunch. Those seeking a more academic assessment of Merce's life and work may want to look elsewhere; this is a deeply personal recollection and, in my opinion, a delight to read.
