First of all, I wanna say that Rick's child is his little sister and he is taking care of her because their father who is still alive can't. The kid is the only one who realizes what is truly going on in the lives of the main characters and offers some good feedback. I was not happy that she was exposed to some of Rick's "girlfriends" though. I don't think that's a nice image for someone who is not even a teenager yet. She is one of the best parts of the book though

My main issue with this book w

It's Christmas and I work retail so I can't summon the will to write a lengthy review. Bullet points will have to do!

The Good

- Sarcasm and wit.
- Neither of the characters being as 2D or stereotypical as the synopsis would make you imagine. No mean girl antics in adults here.
- The hero taking the time to reassure the heroine when she was anxious or behaving neurotically.
- The characters taking the piss out of each other's cheesy lines.
- The heroine describing her new, more adventurous sex life as

It happens to the best of us. No more hiding behind snarky comments, over-inflated egos and childhood fantasy. Eventually we have to grow up. McCarthy reminds us that life has a tendency to get in the way, but it also pushes us through the heartache. Stripped Down is brash humor with a ton of heart and a dash of wisdom. The mean girl finally gets a long overdue reality check. Sloane is used to putting her best foot forward, but this time she has to do the work. It takes a less than stellar homec ...more

I am excited to be reviewing a new romance by Erin McCarthy. She remains one of my favorite romance authors. I remember when she won Lori Foster's writing contest and got her book published. That is how long I've been a fan! I feel like Stripped Down is Erin going back to her roots in romantic comedy which I know I appreciate! I've missed her voice.

Sloane is turning thirty and she has just moved back to her hometown, Beaver Bend, Minnesota. (Not a huge fan of the name of the town but that's beca

Rick and Sloane have a history. Sloane was a former mean girl who shared an earth-shattering kiss with her younger brother’s best friend. Rick was that friend and he has changed in the years since that kiss. Sloane is not looking to start a relationship. Hurt by a bitter divorce, all she wants is to be left alone. But that doesn’t happen. After seeing Rick stripping for a charity auction, Sloane needs to see if Rick lives up to the promise in his boxers. Rick wants to know if kissing Sloane now ...more

“I think you should all strip …”

Anyone who has ever read my reviews knows that I I have a number of “go to” authors, but my first and foremost is always Erin McCarthy. I have yet to read a book by Erin and think to myself, well that was disappointing—never! I love a good series, and Erin has several. But, even a die-hard fan like myself has her favorites-“True Believers, and “Nashville Nights” were amazing; “Sexy in NYC” holds a special place because my favorite book of all by Erin is still “The

I loved this book!! It was so sweet!
Sloan was the popular perfect cheerleader and she seemed to have it all but one night in the bathroom at a party she had the best kiss of her life and when the lights came on she knew it wasn’t her boy friend but her little brother’s best friend Rick known as Little Dickey. After humiliating him to save herself she went off to college and become a trophy wife of an older doctor.
Life wasn’t what it seemed and she was getting divorced and moving back home. Lit

2.5 stars. I like Erin McCarthy's books as much as I dislike them. To me, Rick and Sloane's relationship was an ode to "douchebagism." I almost did not finish it. I have to say that the story was better for me with the arrival of River (Rick's young sister) and Winnie. (Sloane's boss) That being said, I'm not sure I'll continue this series.

"What a complete load of bullshit that for ten years she had condemned herself to riding a golf cart when she could have been in a sports car. Mind blown."

I had read book 2 and 3 for review some time ago, but was just too late to read the first book. So, of course I had to go to Amazon and get this book on my Kindle to read.

This time our couple is Rick and Sloane, both of them childhood friends. Both of them meant to be together and in this book they find that out. It takes them very long and i

This is a new to me author. I’ve never read anything by her before. So I was pretty excited to read this book. So, I was all in... up until I got to the first sex scene. Thats in the beginning of the books.

Now... up until this point I was feeling this book. But, one of my pet peeves in books is when the author can’t remember what the main characters is wearing. I mean... how can you forget? So, Rick is wearing his work overalls for the charity stripper show. He takes Sloane home. He’s still wea

Who among us does not know what it was like in High School if you were the one not quite in with the popular crowd but not quite an outcast either?

Well in this story we have a 28-year-old named Rick who was to say the least not one of the more sought after boys when he was a teen but who is now a man with more dates then not. The short guy from High School is now a ripped hunk at 6 ft maybe more as his growth spurt caused his body to finally meet it's full potential.

Stripped Down is a story of loyalty, friendship, absent mothers, and a second chance at love. The author takes the common theme of "in love with your friend's sibling" and adds a twist, as Rick is in love with with his best friend's older sister. It turns out a younger brother can be just as protected for his older sister, as for a younger sister. Rick (Little Dickie) never thought he would have a chance with his high school crush, Sloan--the older, sexy high school cheerleader. "Little Dickey" ...more

Stripped Down was a decent start to a new series by Erin McCarthy. This is a new-to-me author, so I'm not too familiar with her writing style or tone. What I read of Stripped Down was entertaining enough, but I didn't fall in love with Sloane and Rick. I liked the little brother's best friend aspect to their story and that she was a reformed bad girl back home after a nasty divorce, licking her wounds. But I felt like some of Rick's behavior was a bit immature and he came off as a jerk.

Stripped Down is a siblings best friend story, but rather than taking the common older brother's best friend route, Erin took the best friend's older sister route and it was a refreshing change. I loved watching Sloane and Rick work their way through a relationship that has lasted a life time and changed over the course of time. These two have the best circuit friends that mean well and want them to be happy which made the story that much better.

Stripped Down is packed with humor, passion, hurd

This is a fun, flirty and sexy best friend’s older sister romance. The story is well written with well-defined and engaging characters, including one Brainiac nine year old who’s going on fifty! Rick has crushed on his best friend’s sister since the tenth grade. Sloane was the popular cheerleader in high school and so not in his league – especially as he was slightly chubby and shorter than her at the time. When Sloane returns to town to get her life back on track how will she react when she enc ...more

Hot story with a memorable cast!

Sloane remembers her younger brother's best friend as "Little Dickie" and that he'd always had a crush on her. Now that she's back in her hometown after a disastrous divorce, she's having a hard time reconciling the deliciously sexy grown-up Rick with the young boy she remembers. Rick, on the other hand, has no trouble welcoming Sloane back, on her birthday to boot, and making sure she knows what she missed out on.

Add in a sexy yet crumpled motorcycle, a group of

I have 2 bones to pick: 1) when a DOCTOR divorces you, you either take him for a TON of money, or you make him a sweet deal that includes the dog. duh. 2) I am sick to death of authors who think that "girl" names are not OK. apparently, we females just aren't interesting enough. So, we have to either have a name that sounds like somebody's surname, or we have to have a Man's name! Personally, I am proud to be a woman with a woman's name: Lynne. and there are lots of fine girl names. Having a Gir ...more

This book was a little rough for me. For the first several chapters, I absolutely loathed both main characters. Rick the perpetual playboy who was once an ugly duckling was so narcissistic that I think I almost rolled my eyes out of my head. And Sloane who I thought was a very refreshing character just wasn't developed well. No one cares how she was at 18 and the fact that she didn't give her younger brothers friends the time of day. Seriously, who cares! I wanted to know more about who she was ...more

If you love brothers best friend reads then you will love this one. When Sloane returns home she is in for one heck of a surprise when she sees her brothers best friend Rick all grown up. I love Sloane and Rick. They are hot together. Nothing like past attractions coming roaring back after years of growing up. Rick is sweet, hot and is raising his younger sister. Sloane is trying to make it on her own after a divorce. I love how once everything is stripped down you get a love story that is sweet ...more

When the first line is that everyone should strip, you know it’s going to be a great book!
What a fun story that started with a benefit strip show in a bar and ends up being a great love story! Mean girl grows up and the guy she embarrassed really grew up in all the right places! And now he is determined to have her whether it ruins his friendship with her brother or not! Sexy, hot, and oh so swoon worthy! I was sucked in to this story, and the drama of the characters that went with it. This book was amazing. The chemistry between Rick and Sloane was off the charts, even when they tried to play it off as a fling. I loved seeing Rick get the woman of his dreams, and what he would do to make her happy. Sloane has been through hell, but it doesn’t seem to knock her down too much, and she is the type of heroine I can definitely see myself being besties with. The seco ...more

So sweet!

I found this book to be so entertainingly sweet! The title name and series name, I absolutely love. I love the childhood friendship this story gives us. This storyboard that people do grow up after high school and can change for the better. I loved the friendship dynamic for the group of friends, they had me laughing and looking forward to more in the future books. The sexy parts were just that sexy but at times playful. I think the rescue mission was my favorite part, that and the litt

I voluntarily read an advanced review copy of this book

Overall this book was really good. I laughed and enjoyed all of the happy funny parts and teared up a bit at the sad heartbreaking parts. Rick has always had a thing for his best friends older sister. Sloan has always seen Rick as her little brothers weird friend until one night something unexpected happens and opens Sloane's eyes to see that Rick can be so much more.

Years have gone by and Rick and Sloane have come full course. Can Rick and

Rick and Sloane have a past, but not a very fond one.

Sloane is the older sister of one of Rick's best friends, Sullivan. She has always seen Rick as a cute kid, nice guy, and her brother's friend, nothing more. However Rick has always had a crush on Sloane and maybe he always will.

Sloane and Rick meet up again after Sloane's divorce and the sparks fly. Are they just sparks and an instant attraction or are these sparks that will turn into flames and stay lit?

A very hot read, Sloane and Rick heat

Erin McCarthy does it again. Stripped Down hits all the right notes.

Sloane has moved back to town, after a not-so-nice divorce, in need of a new start. There she finds Rick, who is definitely not at all how she remembers her younger brother's annoying friend. Their lust for each other may be what starts them down their path, but once they realize who they were in high school no longer exists you get to see their relationship grow and build. I enjoyed getting to know Rick and Sloane and look for
