Writing had never been a real money maker for me, more of an escape and a dream of one day having million people love my work and seeing stories on the big screen starring Hollywoods best, yet life gets in the way. Matthew Duncan

Matthew Duncan has written a brilliant and entertaining science fiction novel that really helps the reader feel involved in the story since he wrote it from a first-person perspective. Matthew wrote Lt Reilly 2321 in 2018. The main character, Jack Reilly, is a

The story started quite well and there were a few interesting incidents, but the whole main plot wasnt convincing. There were several occasions when I couldnt help thinking a situation was just too contrived and bordered on being unbelievable. As for the relationship stuff the author really shouldn't have bothered, at times it was just cringe worthy. ...more

Good Read

Jack, a career space fleet lieutenant, was seriously injured at the end of the war, and was given a medical discharge just short of his pension. He is working a job as an engineer on a rundown ship. He is fired for refusing to install a dangerous part on the engines. A beautiful crew mate follows him ashore to convince him to return since he is the only one who can keep the old ship running. They are abandoned as the ship leaves without them. In a bizarre turn of events, they are blamed

Mostly OK

This is an oddly constructed tale, with frequent grammatical and punctuation errors, and some of the least scientific sci-fi Ive read recently. It could be better with a good editor. The story comes to a stopping point, but not really to an end. There are issues unresolved, threads left unterminated, and while the main characters are OK at the end, the reader is left with questions.

Good read!

You can read the trailer. Good characters. The story line was good and flowed well. Kind of a who done it mystery in space. I thank the author and will be waiting for the next book in this series.

Lt. Reilly is good!

I liked the twist and turns. It was also nice to read a non shot-um up book. The various twists and turns kept me reading, wondering what was coming up.

Great Old School Sci-fi

This book sets up the universe and characters quickly and has a lot of action. Reilly is very real and relatable. What makes him the hero is being smarter than everyone around him.

Lt. Reilly was meant to be a stand-alone spin-off of the New Terra Sagas books but became so popular that I decided to turn it into a series of its own. Originally published in 2018, it was republished in 2020 with KDP to expand the market from the US to the International. The third book in the series should be out before the end of 2020.

Adventure, romance, suspense and flying by the seat of your pants

I typically dont read this genre, but took a chance on this book. I loved it and read it in three sittings, the final 100 pages in one go, I was so engrossed. This was a spirited story, fast paced, enjoyable characters, tricky situations, and white-knuckle gripping moments. It felt contemporary, even though placed in a futuristic setting

I highly recommend this book and anything this author writes. Worthy of my valuable and limited

This was a fun adventure. This man was part of the military, but now retired, or discharged, he has to find work on various spaceships. Well, he picked an idiotic captain. It was more of the captain's mother picked him, probably to keep her son safe, but when that didn't work out, Jack took off with a beautiful woman from the ship, as they flee for their lives from people hunting them. The problem? They have no idea why. This is a fun military Sci-Fi adventure. Filled with romance, humor, and ...more

Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book and I am leaving this review voluntarily. The opinions are my own.

This book is full of action and thrills. I enjoyed the characters. Lt. Reilly had some MacGyver type solutions to their problems and that was very entertaining. I will definitely read the second book.

Matthew O. Duncan is part of the resurgence of Old School Sci-fi. His books are a mix of Military Sci-fi, Fantasy, Romance, and Mystery weaved together with non-stop action. Matt started his writing career as a playwright were, he won a number of awards and had his plays produced on local stages. Yet, he put his pen down in the late 90s as his writing wasnt bringing a sustainable income and he ...more
