*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.

This is the most magically adorable cozy mystery that I have read in awhile. We meet Carissa a half fae half human who runs an apothecary with her faithful assistant. This is where it gets fun though as Carissa mostly stays in the Other realm while the assistant stays in the human world. The dual layers make for an intriguing twist and when you add in lots of different types of characters from deep in th

If you enjoy magical creatures, solving a mystery, and being transported between two worlds, this might just be the book for you.

Many times when I start a book I haven't read the synopsis or it has been some time.  Many times I think that is better because it opens up many new worlds, characters, and situations that aren't biased ahead of time.  I say this since books that are somewhat fantasy in nature aren't what I read but I do enjoy expanding my horizons and since this is a cozy it was bound

I really enjoy this series. Its got a nice large world so I can see the series going on for awhile without getting boring. I strongly reccomend reading the prequel Chaos in the Countyside. It really sets everything up and explains Chaos's role as well as introduces the reader to Miss Morgan. Im not sure why Chaos in the Countryside is considered a prequel, it makes far more sense as a 1st book in a series. Reading Chaos in the Countryside first is not absolutely necessary but you miss a lot of d ...more

Nice fantasy mystery with a twist.

Charming little town that house a mixed of human and otherworld but their peace was disturbed with a sudden death of their most grumpy brownie. Loving this series. On to the next book. I hope there is more to come.

HERBS AND HOMICIDE by Astoria Wright
The First Faerie Apothecary Cozy Mystery

No one is more stunned than Carissa Shae when curmudgeonly Miss Morgan drops dead in the Seelie Tree Apothecary Shop. There's more to her death than meets the eye and Cari soon finds herself in the middle of the investigation. With a surly Sidhe guard investigating the crime, and various folk acting oddly, fae and human alike, Cari sets out to not only prove her innocence, but find the true murderer, and protect Moss Hil

A fascinating ongoing story of good vs evil with both magical and human realism, this is also a love story taking various forms. This is a life and death struggle for all as well as a murder mystery. The author does a good job of world building and imaginative character development. The relationships between characters kept me intrigued.
It begins with half fae, half human Carissa and her human assistant, Maren, and the people they know and deal with in common. Carissa had been on a date with Joh

As with any new series, it took me a little while to get my head around all the characters and terms from both worlds in this book. Once I got my head around everything, I really enjoyed the story. The characters were interesting and I enjoyed how the author left the mystery concluded at the end of the book, but clear Carissa and her friends were destined to have more adventures.

Almost emotionalless

Cari seemed almost distracted the whole time. Maybe it's her Elven half but she doesn't seem to understand emotions. At one point I almost felt she was only hunting down the mystery because she was actually involved.

A lot is going on. Nice cast of characters. Liked the fact that humans and the other world could interact.

I received this book for free from the Great Escapes Book Tours in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. Can they find the killer before it’s too late?
Herbs and Homicide by Astoria Wright is another cozy mystery that I couldn’t put down. The mystery in this one was pretty well thought out, and I loved how she was able to incorporate some of the Unseelie into this book along with why they are coming here.
