Elizabeth Bennet’s first day at Darcy Holdings was turning out to be everything she'd imagined—that is until she met her new boss William Darcy. True, he’s hotter than Hades but he's also rude, abrupt, and stares at her as though she’s committed some grievous sin. If only she could avoid him, but her friends’ not so brilliant ideas keep throwing them together.

This is a very cute, relatively angst-free, modern Pride and Prejudice variation. William Darcy is the head of a major corporation called Darcy Holdings, and Elizabeth is a new lawyer working at his firm. He's having a rotten morning dealing with Wickham and gives him the ax just before Charles Bingley (Darcy's right hand man) approaches him to bring Elizabeth into his office for an introduction. Darcy's foul mood leads him to insult her sight unseen, not realizing she c

TYPE OF AUSTENESQUE NOVEL: Modern-day Adaptation of Pride and Prejudice

SETTING: New York City, Modern-day

SYNOPSIS: On Elizabeth’s first day at Darcy Holdings she overhears her new boss, a distracted and beleaguered William Darcy, disparage her by inferring she only got the job through her connection to Charles Bingley. And after hearing that wholly untrue utterance, Elizabeth has formed an immovable dislike of her bos

I read this as a WIP but didn't at that time, of course, post a review...the dates of the first read through are a guess.

I loved the Mr. Darcy in this variation even though we had to have his infamous insult in the very beginning. Talk about sticking his foot in his mouth. If he had just paused for even a second he could have taken in that Miss Elizabeth Bennet was there with his best friend and employee, Charles Bingley when Charles said he wanted to introduce her. She had been hired as part of

“It is not how much we give but how much love we put into giving.” –Mother Theresa

Rating: mature audience: mild sexual scene with consenting adults, nothing graphic.

This was a delightful modern variation or re-imagining of Austen’s P&P story. There was so much going on with this story. We had the basic points of conflict from canon that translated beautifully to this modern setting. The initial insult that sets the story in motion was well done and the reader knew it was on between the two

I absolutely loved this modern variation of Pride and Prejudice!
Fast paced, romantic, intriguing characters, captivating and hilarious, well written banter. A must read.

Mr Bingley had coerced Mr Darcy into hiring his sister-in-law Elizabeth as an attorney. Darcy thought that finding Mr Hurts replacement could have waited and was very vocal in expressing it.
Unfortunately, Elizabeth overheard him and her dislike was instant.
Darcy, on the other hand, took a week or two to realise his

A warm and fuzzy all over read.

This is a heartwarming story about the lengths we are prepared to go to for those we love.
Elizabeth Bennet starts her new job as part of the legal team at Darcy Holdings, but to Darcy’s chagrin and Elizabeth’s horror, on her first day, Darcy loses his temper and fires an employee George Wickham. Elizabeth decides right then that Darcy is a cold and unfeeling boss. She is not sure how she going to even stay at the company. Darcy is not going to back down and doesn’

Very cute

Very cute! I enjoyed the modern approach to Elizabeth and Darcy and the rapid pace it proceeded through the book. Also, keeping characters so that we could keep track and know who was who. I like the older versions of Variations, but sometimes they do go on, and you give up being interested and start to skip chapters. Not so in this story and it was very intertaining.

A Light Fun Read

This was a lovely light Christmas novel. Set in modern times, it strikes the right note between romance and angst. I thoroughly enjoyed it. This will be on my annual Christmas reads.

I love stories where Darcy quickly gets over himself and moves on to trying to win over Elizabeth. This book fits squarely in that vein. Very sweet premise, with Darcy doing everything he can to show her that he's not who she thinks he is. It's also loaded with many sweet moments between Elizabeth and Darcy. A joy to read all the way through.
Cute story, but nothing more than that. This Lizzy sure knows how to hold a grudge and Darcy waits entirely too long to apologize. That's probably because in P&P he doesn't apologize at all, but if you start changing the story, especially from Regency to modern, some things need to be altered to be believable. But if you're in the mood for some D&E fluff with minimal angst, lots of presents and a cute destructive cat, this novel will fit the bill.

'Unwrapping Mr. Darcy' is a fun holiday read! In this modern 'Pride and Prejudice', Darcy is Elizabeth’s boss and Secret Santa. Instead of just one present, Darcy decides to give Lizzy 25 presents! One a day until Christmas. Will that win her over or drive her further away?

On her first day at work for Darcy Holdings, Lizzy overhears Darcy saying to Bingley, “I can’t be expected to take the time to welcome a new company attorney - especially one who required her sister’s boyfriend to get her the
