Sourdough: A Beginner's Guide For Vegans

Rate this book

Everyone says that sourdough is too hard to figure out. No way, not with this quick, easy-to-read book. Iris Blume turns complex cooking techniques into simple steps with her new series: Vegan In The Wilderness Mini-Series. You don’t even have to be vegan to learn how to make healthy, home-cooked essentials.

Say goodbye to pre-packaged bread with unpronounceable ingredients. You can make your favorite foods. By following simple directions and deconstructing two basic recipes, you can create your own sourdough recipes featuring the ingredients that your family loves. You don’t have to be a celebrity chef in a fancy kitchen.

Once you complete the two recipes in Sourdough, A Beginner’s Guide for Vegans, you can use the skills to either create your own recipes or use other complicated recipes with confidence.

What others are saying:
“Short and sweet, easy to follow instructions.”

“No hard-to-find ingredients, No odd tools.”

“Excellent flavor!”

“Long Overdue.”

Sourdough, A Beginner’s Guide is for the absolute beginner. The bread recipe is basic and uses only sourdough, flour, water, salt, and a pinch of sugar. That is it! Then take the recipe to new heights with variations that your family will love.

Complex recipes overlook essential directions when using sourdough. This short guide bridges the gap. Keep it handy or take the basic recipes and variations to a new level. Two great recipes for pancakes and bread plus ideas for variations make this a guide that earns its place in the kitchen.

Great book for beginners

I have been interested making sourdough bread, but had no idea where to start. It all seemed so technical. So I was thrilled when I won a Kindle copy of this book on Goodreads Giveaways. Blume has presented everything in such a organized and easy to understand way. The recipes' ingredients are easily available at my local grocery. I recommend Blumes' book to anyone wanting to learn about sourdough.

I want to thank Iris Blume, author and Goodreads First Reads Giveaway for the eBook Kindle copy of Sourdough: A Beginner's Guide for Vegans ~ Vegan in the Wilderness Mini-Series that I won in the Giveaway.

Making Sourdough bread starts with starter and it isn't hard to make from scratch but takes time and patience. The book has short chapters that explains steps, give hints and options for both sourdough pancakes and bread.

We have starter in the refrigerator and have made one batch of pancakes from it. They were great. Bread will be next and feel it will be just as good as the pancakes.

I think this book confused me. For some reason I thought it will include recipes not only for using sourdough. This cookbook offers some vegan recipes, like bread or pancakes. There are some small photos included of the dishes. Overall I think it’s just a small cooking book. Not really for me.

Great book for anyone who is wanting to learn about sourdough and starters. Don’t get caught up on the title if you aren’t vegan. It’s still very informative on the sour dough process.
