This was such a strange story and I'm still kind of conflicted with how I feel about it??

Princess Cirona of the merfolk goes exploring with her sisters one day, only to see a dragon attack and then watch a young man sink under the waves. When she attempts to help him, she's taken prisoner by dark magic. When she wakes, she finds herself trapped in a cage, next to a dragon! Can her day get any worse??

This had an interesting premise and for some reason I went into it thinking it was erotica. I don't know why, but this was not erotica in case you were wondering. This was a pretty short audio, but the main characters spent way too long debating if they'd help each other escape. It got very tedious. I was ready to jump off the boat/plane thing they were in.

Cirona was an okay character. I wasn't really connected to either her or Argun, the dragon. After they finally escape--like halfway through the damn book-- these two decided to go after their captor. The second half was much more interesting; however, I couldn't bring myself to care much. I was mostly counting down the minutes until this was over.

There wasn't anything particularly bad about this book. I wasn't invested and by 50% was extremely bored so this is a no from me.

I signed up for this book because the synopsis was intriguing, but I have to admit I didn't think it would work... a mermaid and a dragon! Didn't see it happening. However, oh, however, this worked beautifully! This book was such a sweet story of romance and hope. The narrator was spot on, and she added an element personality to each character. I found myself tearing up at times. The cliffhanger left me with questions that I can't wait to get answered!

This was an interesting read. I am trying to think if I have ever read a romance between a dragon and a mermaid and I don’t think I’ve ever read one. So that was exciting. But this book did take awhile to get into. Almost half the book was Argun( the dragon) and Cirona trying to escape a prison of some kind. And a lot of that was them trying to figure out if they should help each other or not. So that was tedious. But the second half of the book was great! So I do recommend this one but you do have to push past some boring parts. And I will say that their dialogue during the boring parts was pretty funny.

The narration was okay... it wasn’t my favorite but it wasn’t terrible either. The only real issue I had was that there wasn’t a difference between characters which makes it hard to follow sometimes.

I initially found Cirona and Argun difficult to get along with but they grew on me as the story progressed. The enemies-to-lovers trope was done well, and the ending was gloriously bittersweet. The overall storyline was fascinating, and I'm definitely interested to see where the story goes from here.

It is an interesting start to the series. It definitely wasn't what I expected. I enjoyed the adventure but the ending just wasn't satisfying for me. I was expecting more of a fight for love but maybe in a future book, I hope. I am interested to see where things go from here.

Mermaid's Destiny is a sweet, clean, little fantasy adventure, but despite being categorised as Epic Fantasy on Audible, it felt much more like a Children's book. Until a gently passionate clinch in Chapter 25, I would have said it was solidly middle-grade, but the romance may bump it up to young YA. (Though it is not a 'kissing book', to paraphrase The Princess Bride, I think that it would have been in the 11-13 Years shelf of my local library.)

I found the story rather slow to get going, with dragon and mermaid taking forever to figure out where they were, how to escape, and whether or not to work together. Once they did, the action picked up, and they had to combine their strengths and overcome their people's indoctrinated prejudices to save Cirona's soul, and Argun's heart.

The language is very simple, there is no swearing, the lines between good and evil are distinct and unyielding, and the soulmates' faith in each other turns to a true love that conquers all. There are moral messages throughout, teaching the benefits of teamwork and friendship, embracing the differences between communities, and the perils of avarice and the pursuit of power.

Whilst there is some resolution, it's unfortunate that the story ended on quite such a cliffhanger. Crest seems to enjoy starting new series more than completing them, which makes the ending even more frustrating.

The narrator, Beverley Murray, had a nice, clear voice and read in a bright, lively, manner. Her performance reminded me of being read fairytales at bedtime as a child.

I'd recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a fantasy adventure they can listen to on road trips with older children, or those looking for a book to suit kids who are at that 'in between' age; too old for middle-grade books but not quite ready for the adult themes in YA.

This book is in that awkward stage where I'm not sure if I like it or not. The premise was interesting, the royalty of two rival species wake up captive in a strange place where they reluctantly have to work together to escape. However, I think that the story fell apart after they escaped.

There was so much potential to be a really good slow burn enemies-to-lovers. It was still good, just not really good. The romance seemed to skip a step between "slowly warming up to the other person" and "wanting to kiss the other person." I wasn't too invested in Argun and Cirona's relationship because it seemed so idealized. I wanted a tragic, gritty romance that persisted in the face of dark magic, not a fluffy love that reminded me of Barbie in a Fairy Secret.

I did like the magic elements of the book. I didn't realize it's been so long that I've read a book where the mermaid has water powers. Cirona is so badass and could definitely take Argun on 1v1. I also liked the dragon aspects of it too. The Nemeo plot was good because it was the main conflict, but I didn't like the Balor one since it seemed to come out of nowhere. It also wasn't resolved, but not in a way that makes you want to read the sequel.

But overall, pretty okay.

I read Mermaid's Destiny as part of YA Fantasy Romance Series Bundle by Mira Crest is a great package deal. This offering is a group of four different books are all the first book in their respective series. The books included are as follows: 1) Soul Mates: This is a reverse harem fantasy where four guardians end up as forever mates. 2) Mermaid’s Destiny: This is the Meragon series’ first book where a imprisoned mermaid and dragon must work together to save each other. 3) Fae’s Queen: This book is a modern retelling of a fairy tale that includes wishing and moving between this world and another alternate world. 4) Rebirth: A human girl learns that she is in danger from paranormal creatures that she didn’t even know were real. Each book in this set is an entertaining read. I can’t pick just one as my favorite because I loved all of them for different reasons. Reading this set is an excellent way to find a new favorite series. Mermaid’s Destiny is an amazingly fun tale.

Welcome to a world where mermaids and dragons still exist and dark magic has been banned.

A mermaid named "Cirona" and a dragon named "Argun" are captured by a mysterious enemy and held in an airship.

Kept in cages guarded by dark magic they struggle to find a way to escape, vanquish their enemy and return home.

This is a story that love beats all odds and will find a way to grow.

Cirona and Argun move from hate and distrust to a tentative partnership and then to more.

A 5 star rating from me for the sheer genius of pairing a mermaid a water element with a dragon a fire element.

For those who hate cliff hangers wait for the sequel before you read this book.

A Beautiful fantasy.
Cirona and Argun have been captured by an evil wizard he plans to take the mermaid and dragon magic for his own dark magic. They were able to escape but the dragon has suffered an injury so now he is only in human form with no magic. Cirona changed to human form also in hope to blend in and to continue on their escape. Cirona and Argun do have a hard time trusting each other and work together but there is attraction. This is a unique and very intense piece and there is a cliffhanger. I read and listen at the same time it was outstanding and looking forward to the next installment. Beverley Murray was splendid as the narrator. High praise for this work I highly recommend this book.

Meragon Book One.

Cirona and her mermaid sisters are out one day and they notice a strange sight above. Cirona is sidetracked by the human man falling, though, and is captured. When she awakens in a cell with a dragon just outside the bars, she immediately fears the worst. However, after Argun begins speaking with her, she realizes he is in an adjacent cell. The mermaids and dragons have a long rivalry, but Cirona is determined to get the dragon to work with her to free them. However, once they are free, they realize that their freedom isn't the only victory they need to accomplish.

If you're looking for a multi-race fantasy series with an enemy-of-my-enemy theme, this is the book for you!

When I first started reading this story I thought this isn't for me! But, I kept reading and I found the story to be great and endearing. A tale as old as time, two beings who are separate but find a way to work together against an evil that threatens both their worlds! Argun, the mighty Dragon shifter Prince and Cirona the beautiful Mermaid Princess, a battle of wills and trust that doesn't come easy, work together and form a bond that no evil can strike down! A love story that will leave you wanting more. Love truly does conquer all in this story!

This is actually a great story, but for me it could use a bit of s trimming.
The characters main trait is that they are both stubborn, and the moral message it that one should try to trust a bit more to work together and solve problems but sometimes it's a bit too much. After all most of the first part of the book is them locked in their cages.
The narrator is perfect with her accent. She really conveys the high breed of the couple, even when they get really annoying. :)
It's still a great story with an interesting world building. I'm looking forward to see what's next in the serie, even if the book ends with a happy ending for now.

A fantastic read

A fantastic read.
I was hooked from the first page. A mermaid is captured, not just any mermaid a princess.
She wakens in a cage with bars that are filled with dark magic. She soon finds she is not alone, in the cage opposite her is a dragon, one look at him and she fears for her life.
Unfortunately, she needs him to help her escape. His arrogance is infuriating. But his strength is necessary. The Dragon sees her as week until she shows him how strong she really is.
Soon they rely on each other as they try to overcome the dark warlock.
I absolutely loved this book, it’s one of those that see true love overcomes all. I cannot wait for book two.

A mermaid princess finds herself captured together with a dragon and both have to lay aside their preconceptions and distrust to work together to free themselves.
I really enjoyed reading the book, loved the characterizations and descriptions from complete distrust to utter trust. The change of heart is described so clearly and believable, that it makes a really good book and despite the unrealistic topic a kind of realistic story.

The narration by Beverley Murray was a first for me, the performance was well done, her voice was very clear, and she did a great job with the voices.

This is only the second book I've read/listened to by Mira crest and I very much enjoy the creativity she has for paranormal stories. Two royal shifters - a mermaid and a dragon - trapped together, they must learn to trust each other if they ever plan to make it out of their prison. The majority of this story was very well written, but the ending does fall a bit flat.

I loved the fairytale nature of this story. The world building was well done in the matter of cultures and how things were built. I'm not sure I liked how the magic worked toward the end. Also, the way the characters grew felt rushed in some places and slow in others.
If there's a second book, I'll read it because the tale itself is interesting. I want to know what happens next, even though there was enough closure at the end of the book. Overall, it's a fanciful tale full of hope, wonder, and some beautiful word pictures. I'd recommend it to people who enjoy fairytales and fantasy.

Beverley Murray does a great job bringing these characters to life. So much so that I got sucked into the story and forgot about the narration.

This book intrigued me from the start, I wasn't at all sure where it was going or what was going to happen though I did guess the twist before it happened. But I loved watching it unfurl. I loved the way the relationship built across the book and how it wasn't all plain sailing. I was really quite sad at how it ended and hope this is resolved further on in the series.

Opposites attract

These two started out enemies and didn't trust each other because of the fact that one was a mermaid and the other a dragon but they came to a shaky truce in order to escape. Truce turned to friendship, friendship turned into love.
Love the dynamics between the two and the magic that is unleashed within the story. Can't wait to see how they move forward from here.

Ain't No Mountain High Enough.....

The caring beings deep in the ocean would never trust the arrogant dragon. Or so it was....

They say that there is one step from hate to love, this story shows how true this can be...A love so deep was forged in captivity that no ocean or mountain could contain it. So it is with Princess Cirona and the dragon Prince Argun.

Wonderful and a little sad.

It is easy to say that dragons are not meant to be together. After all mermaids breathe water and dragons dont. That being said, I enjoyed the personal struggles. I was saddened by the ending but I did enjoy the book. Well done.

Epic fantasy

This story is an epic adventure and tells the story of a dragon and mermaid joining together to defeat an evil warlock, who had imprisoned them. This story was fabulous but I just hated the ending- hence the four star rating. I wanted them to be together forever 😢

Mermaid’s Destiny

Magical creatures at its finest. These two are definitely on opposite ends of the scale and yet they are able to find equal ground to fight black magic. I enjoyed this book and the narration was done really well to help bring this book to life.
