3 Halloween Hearts!

I wanted a little spooky spirit to get me going for the fall, and this shorty was just the ticket!

Assuming this is typical Tara Lain, this was a little over the top, a lot enthusiastic, with fast simple easy progression to the good stuff. *wink*

Single dad and slightly older professor Josh, spies his new neighbor Trex, moving in across the street with his younger half brother. When Josh discovers Trex is a grad student/TA at the college he works at and not completely off limits

At around only 35 pages, this short Halloween read didn't have a lot of time for setup and HEA's, but I enjoyed it for what it was.

was a professor and father to a 10 year old son, Ernie, with a crush on his new, eye candy neighbor.

And unbeknownst to Josh, the hot neighbor, Trex, also had a mutual crush on him right back.

So after Trex and his stepbrother Bogo's haunted house for the kids, Trex invited Josh over for a bit of an "adult" after-party.

The story had the bare-bones *beginning* of a

Trex or Treat covers about a twenty-four hour period, is pretty smexy, and is told entirely from history professor Josh Harris's POV.

I wouldn't have complained if there had been some more character development, but I enjoyed this for what it was: a super short, sexy, bite size confection.

Wow... that was just incredible. The author did such an amazing job with so little that it feels like this story must have been longer, in order to have fit everything she did in it. The two MCs are just awesome as well as the secondary characters. She also somehow managed to write a HFN ending in such a way that it totally felt more like HEA. I loved every minute of reading this story and would definitely love to read more about these two if the author obliged. My cowboy hat (read the story) is ...more

Trex or Treat was a cute, sweet, sexy story by Tara Lain. It has great story building for such a short story, and I found myself smiling through the book as I was reading it. I really enjoyed the main characters and their families. I liked that both main characters are single fathers in a way. With Josh being a single father to his son, Ernie, and Bradley “Trex” Trexler being a father figure to his younger stepbrother, Beauregard

"Trex or Treat" by Tara Lain is a cute and sizzling short story perfect for Halloween. Josh Harris is a lonely professor who is a single father and gets a new neighbor, Bradley “Trex” Trexler, who sets up an amazing haunted house that appeals to both father and son, but for very different reasons.

This is a quick and sexy adult m/m story that gives the ambience of the holiday while introducing a couple of men and their personable young charges. The connection between the males on both an interpe

Halloween is often thought of as a night for children, but when Josh Harris and his son, of 'Trex or Treat' by Tara Lain, are invited to a Halloween party by Trex, the new neighbor across the street, Josh doesn't realize what a “treat” he's in for.

Josh's son, Ernie, is excited to go to what promises to be the best Halloween party of his life. Already, Ernie has made friends with Bogo, his across the street neighbor, and they hit it off immediately. It would seem that Josh and Trex have a lot in

Unexpected Halloween heat in this short story, enough heat to warm my tiny home.  This is a really hot, super fun story with an entirely satisfying conclusion.  It is the best kind of fiction, reading purely for feel-good enjoyment.

Trex is a hottie and he is new in town.  He and his young step-brother Bogo are taking up residence just in time to decorate for their Halloween party, even before they officially move in. The neighborhood is buzzing.

The view from college professor Josh's house across

This book is a fun and fast romp! Josh is happy being a dad and a professor. He isn't looking for a relationship. And then Trex moves in across the street! I am really not a fan of insta-love stories and this isn't one of those. This is about two men who have lots of family responsibilities making time to explore their attraction to one another. This is only a snapshot of the relationship potential but it ends on a promising note. If you are looking for angst, tons of detail or character growth, ...more

This is a short, cute Halloween story and it's really entertaining.
Tara Lain is great giving us interesting characters that you can get involved with really quickly, obviously a bonus in a short story. Ernie is the most adorable and energised boy and Josh reads as a great parent in need of some companionship. The attraction between Josh and Trex shines through and it's an enjoyable read.
I highly recommend this quick, Halloween romance. Always a winner with a Tara Lain story.

4 Stars!!!

This short story was cute and sweet with some sexy times thrown in for good measure and a HFN that will leave you satisfied. Trex and Josh were adorable and had great chemistry and it was lovely to see Josh being all shy and fumbling through things, while Trex was all swagger and sexy confidence. My only complaint is that it was too short. :( But other than that, it was perfect for the season!

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

Trex or Treat is a steamy little treat that’s perfect for a quick read on Halloween. At first glance, this is an odd mixture of plot threads combining a case of hero worship, with two lonely dads needing to scratch an itch, and not-quite-so-hidden identities during a Halloween costume party, but Tara Lain makes it work. For me, I enjoyed it as a meet-cute meets one-night stand that has the potential to become so much more.

Rating: 4 stars out of 5

This was such a sweet story, but being a short there is just so far that the story can go and I don’t want to spoil it either. Josh and Trex have great chemistry and I love that both of them don’t just want a one off. They connect on a deeper level and even better have much more in common than Josh could ever hope for. Seeing the story through Josh’s eyes didn’t really give us much of a chance to get to know Trex

Tara Lain never met a beautiful boy she didn’t love – at least on paper. A writer of erotic romance, mostly ménage and male/male, Tara loves all her characters, but especially her handsome heroes. A lifelong writer of serious non-fiction, Tara had the first novel she ever wrote accepted for publication in 2011. She’s now on book 45 and counting. After an exotic life of travel all over the world an ...more
