Published history of general aviation is scarce. Most of what there is tends to be fragmented or focused on single manufacturers or single entrepreneurs. This one is about the best available and, while it covers post-WWII thoroughly, I feel it gives short shrift to the Golden Age of Aviation. He does refer to and briefly describe a number of important companies that are little known outside the hangars where work on old airplanes is done.
