Let me admit my bias right at the outset. During WWII when we lived with my grandmother in Coupar Angus, Scotland, we had a Polish Army unit based in the village and three Polish Army officers billeted in our house. Their behaviour was impeccable. Daily, I heard almost as much Polish as English and developed a great respect and affection for them. Later, from 1967 to 1974, I worked for long periods throughout Central and Eastern Europe and developed a great respect for the people and their cultu ...more

An absolute masterpiece on life and love!! I hope this book gets a lot of awards as it shows the many universal truths that will relate to everyone. I am so happy I read it. Every man should read it as it gave me a better understanding of a woman's mind. Sure the author is very unique and there are lots of different women out there but it was great to see how she may react to certain things. The author didn't have much luck with the men she met but I am not surprised to see her struggle in some ...more

“The Story of a Beautiful, Resilient Soul”

I recently purchased the book, “Polish Girl” by Monika Wisniewska. Diving head long into a rich memoir, I found myself transported not only to a lifestyle beyond my usual venue, but pleasantly into the story of a young woman searching not only for love but for her proper place in the world. After reading it, I stepped away and did some quiet reflection. Did I like this book? Honestly? No.

It takes a great deal of courage to reveal the depth

A very interesting story that I loved reading!

Readers are in for a wild ride of ups and downs as they follow the story of the author’s life as she moves from her native land of Poland to England, as she builds a life in her new country, and as she searches for love there. The story is compelling, and readers will find themselves drawn deeply into it. Just about everything good and bad that can happen to a person happens to the author in this book! Beyond the story, this book has many life lesso

Wow Wow Wow!!! What a magical book about life!!!

It is not what I had expected but boy I enjoyed every minute of it. It is a book about finding true love and it's not what you think. I am so glad the author described her life experiences with such raw and fresh honesty, making me think about my own life experiences. I wish I had such maturity to look back at the past and draw meaningful, deep conclusions. It's a must read for anyone. Monika is a fantastic writer and has the skill to transform the

I really enjoyed the author's story. It shows the reality of being an immigrant in a foreign country that many do not want to talk about. Being Polish myself, I had similar experiences. Also with regards to men and relationships. It's a must read for anyone who wants to learn the same lessons that the author did by following her journey to finding what true love really is. It's a very deep, honest account of one Polish girl in pursuit of a dream to be loved and happy. Go read! I couldn't put it ...more

Well what can I say, I absolutely loved the book. The most unpredictable storyline I have read, the author is so open and honest about her feelings. This is Bridget Jones on a spiritual journey to find love. Deep, powerful, emotional, touching. I couldn't stop reading it from page one till the last one. Beautifully written, reminds of Stephen King in style. Amazing book, I hope the author writes more and that it will be Part 2? I never expected the ending. Not the typical predictable Hollywood ...more

If I could I would give 10 stars!!!

Unbelievable true, honest story of the author's adventures in England. It shows the true challenges of a modern immigrant, rather than the false propaganda in the media. I enjoyed the author's reflections on relationships as I can relate to many of her experiences with men. The last part of the book is so enlightening and inspirational that I decided to follow the author's advice on mindfulness and feeling more happy and at peace in life. I recommended it to a

Stunning, touching, raw, a masterpiece on love and relationships. I haven't read a book where the author writes about love so beautifully and so from the heart, and heartreak. The author has a great talent in drawing the reader into her world, felt I was with her all along her life journey, laughing and crying with her. Just wonderful. And the ending was not what I had expected. I hope the author writes Part2? Or at least another book? I am her fan for life. Read it!

Fantastic story, the middle part reminds me of 50 shades but with a slightly more realistic ending (well like real life, not a fiction happy ending). Beautuful writing style, love, love love it! When I started reading it at 6pm, I didn't finish till 3am. This is better than a criminal, so emotional. I am buying a couple of books as a Christmas present for my friends. just read it and you will see what I mean. This is something else!

I admire the author for sharing her personal story. She is courageous, unstoppable, loving, caring, passionate and has a fighter spirit. She is also beautiful not only outside but in her heart and soul. I am soo happy I read this book. A friend recommended it to me and it came to me exactly when I needed some inspiration in my whole life. Love yourself. That's the key message. Thank you Monika for your book. I looved it!!

Wow what a wonderful book!!

I am in awe of this wonderful story written by the author. It was not what I had expected at all. I thought it would just be a nice story of one Polish girl moving to England in search of a better life but what I got was a masterpiece of emotions hidden within and an inspiring journey of a beautiful soul. I experienced all the possible emotions from sadness, anger, frustration to love, bliss, joy, excitement and.. I am not a very emotional person. This book left me i

Oh my God!!! What an incredible story from one amazing girl who was so brave to share the most intimate details from her life, including love life! I am blown away by the author's writing skills, I felt I was with her all the way on her incredible journey to self-discovery and finding unconditional love. Wow! One of the best written books I have ever read! The author can really describe the situations, action, drama, emotions in such an unbelievably real way that I felt like I was in the book with her. Her style reminds me of Stephen King and I recommend this book to anyone, especially many men can learn a lot of useful tips on how to understand and treat a woman. It gives a unique insight into a woman's mind which doesn't happen very often. Thank you Monika for writing your amazing story. I wis ...more

Absolute must read for anyone who wants to travel around Europe with one Polish girl who is looking for loove. Great story, amazing descriptions of historical places and twists and turns that I didn't expect. I can see why some haters would criticize it... jealousy because the author has been so honest with her reflections on life that some people would never get to such point. The author who is Monika from Poland writes an excellent, interesting and true story on her experience of emigrating to work and live in England back in 2004. In her book she tells of finding romance with her boyfriend, experiencing racism in her job and workplace as she got her first job at the airport cleaning tables, even though she was qualified with an English teaching degree from university, at some point finding herself homeless and eventually returning to Poland. Did she decide to come b ...more

This is one of the best memoirs I have ever read. It is real, gritty, sad and yet full of hope for the human spirit. Monika is to be admired for telling such a personal story of her entire life. Her dream to live happily ever after in England lives so strong inside her heart that she was ready to dedicate her young life to it. Her ability to tell her story honestly is admirable. A book which should be read by anyone contemplating a life full of hopes.

Beautiful story told by a very honest to the core woman in search of love, peace and happiness. I am so glad I read it. I found many similarities to my own life, searching for love in another person when I was missing the most important thing- loving myself. I have since started to pay atention to how I feel and already see small but significant changes in my life. I feel more at peace and I feel that forgiving many people who hurt me in the past was the key to shifting my life in a new directio ...more

This is a truly incredible story. I applaud the author for the courage to speak so openly about her love life. It's one of the best books I have ever read on relationships, even though it touches so many other important aspects and her life as an immigrant in the face of Brexit. I am English and until now, I haven't really thought how tough it may be for someone coming to this country to try to make a living. It's a real eye-opener. The story concludes in how the author finally found what she wa ...more

What an Amazing book !! It's one of the best books I have read and found it to be one of those books you just don’t want to leave down. It's a book to tug at your emotions, to offer comfort to anyone who has suffered loss and it will make you reflect on your own life. I love the raw honesty, the exposure of the harsh reality of life and an insight of the terrible effect that the Brexit vote has on our friends from the rest of Europe.

Great story about life and searching for love. I am a man and found it very insightful. I felt like I was let into the secret mind of a woman. The best book on relationships and love I have ever read. It was so emotional, I had to stop halfway through as it resonated with my own life in an incredible way. It also made me look into yoga and meditation, just like the author recommended as it seems to have amazing healing powers to find balance and peace. Go read it.

This book has left me thinking about life, love and relationships for days! What a touching, moving storyteller the author is. So raw, so pure, so honest, so no-bullshit story that made we gasp from different emotions. She is not afraid to start from nothing in a foreign country, on her own, moving bravely through countless challenges. She is so inspiring that she made me feel ashamed of everything I have been taking for granted in the UK. It's an

Wonderful story! Very touching and emotional, beautifully written, gave me a 3d effect when I was reading some of the scenes. Vienna was just a masterpiece! Vivid, multidimentional, the description of dancing Walz was breathtaking. The author has got a great talent to captivate the reader's attention and emotion. I am glad she found the love and peace, she deserves it. We all do! Thank you.

THe best book I have read this year. Well done to the author for her bravery and courage to speak abut such difficult subjects from her life like love, relationships, betrayals, falsness, hatred and materialism. Marriage can have nothing to do with love sometimes, with materialism and money too, even if you are a man. I loved the author's raw honesty in describing som ...more

Polish Girl, by Monika Wisniewska, was not the type of a book that I had expected it to be, nor was it a book I typically read. That being said, this was an excellent personal memoir put together by a thoughtful author. Immigration is a hot-button topic in both the UK and US. The book was presented as one immigrant’s dream to realize the Great English Dream and I came across this author through social media. The author maintains a consistent and effective presence and Instagram and Facebook. Alt ...more

“Unconscious of my destructive patterns, desperate to be loved, no matter what, and not standing up for myself when he had hurt me the first and second time, I had finally got a painful wake-up call. Shame it had taken me so long to realise I deserved more in life and I deserved to find true love, rather than keeping an unfulfilled and immature relationship, just because I was afraid to be alone. I had finally said ‘It’s over’ for which I had paid a high price with his vengeance, but I was proud to have faced my fears and moved on with life, no matter how painful it would be, fully respecting myself and trusting that one day I would find the right man to feel complete. Finding my other half and be happy. Yes, I was afraid that it could never happen, but I was now ready to face my fears of abandonment and go forward, single and alone, but independent and in charge of my destiny. – from ‘Polish Girl In Pursuit of the English Dream” 0 likes
“I found LOVE.
But not just any kind of love. During one of my daily meditations, when tears were flowing down my cheeks as if I had been watching a horror movie, with all my pain, suffering and demons, playing main characters in the story of my life, I had felt an inexplicable warmth in my heart. I felt something that I had never felt before. An unconditional love… for myself. I felt that I was more than just a human being. I felt I was part of the surrounding universe. I was a spirit. And in that moment, I felt as if nothing else had existed or mattered. No worries. No problems. There was no past. There was no future. There was only ME and there was no… suffering any more. No more pain, no more heartbreak. I didn’t need anyone else to love me because I BECAME love. I became who I had always been so desperately searching for, whole as a person. I realised that only when we are whole as a spirit, filled with unconditional love for ourselves, that can we truly find and share an immense love with another human being, the one that is right for us and who is also whole as a person. – from ‘Polish Girl In Pursuit of the English Dream by Monika Wiśniewska”
