Brigadier Ffellows #2

Curious Quests of Brigadier Ffellowes

Rate this book
The remarkable Brigadier Ffellowes, whose exploits are legend, has returned, and along with him comes a sense of wonder that is increasingly difficult to find in contemporary fantasy.

Ffellowes of course is the retired British general who is a link between our bustling twentieth century and a world that is full of the bizarre and fantastic.

The Curious Quests of Brigadier Ffellowes is a collection of six episodes gathered here for the first time, in hardcover form. Among them are tales of Arthurian legend, Roman remains, and Atlantean survivals.

"Ghost of a Crown"
"And the Voice of the Turtle..."
"A Father’s Tale"
"Commander in the Mist"
"Thinking of the Unthinkable"
"The Brigadier in Check — and Mate"

After reading the first book about the adventures of Brigadier Ffellows, I was excited to read the second...but since it's rare and was hard to find- years passed in between.
I had to pay a lot for it, but I LOVED the first book, so...I did.
The second book is definitely in line with the first, but I wouldn't say the tales are quite as good. Still good, but not quite as good.
Do I regret getting the book? No, I don't- or I'd always have wondered.
If you are a fan of rollicking adventure tales and lost world/monsters/fantasies set in the real world and elsewhere, definitely lay hold of at least one of these books. And don't miss out on Leslie Charteris' Saint series...it's light on fantasy but tough to find a more unique hero/antihero out there.

Excellent group of pulp style adventure stories. Clever references to myth, legends, and other stories.
