Where do I start? Let's see how about with:

The Good

I liked Cain and Felicity and would like to see more about them. I enjoyed Ben and Allie and even Sindy and am intrigued as to where all this is going. So much so, that I will continue with the series.

The Bad

This book is more like a really long introduction. Not much really happens. It basically is about the characters getting to know each other and about what the vampires can and can't do. There is only one kiss. Plus the book just ends with a

“Fatal Infatuation” is about Felicity who has just moved to a new city, a new college, and a new job. She’s trying to figure out who she wants to be, and faces the same questions as everyone does. After her first few days on the new job, she’s walking home together with one of her new colleagues, and they’re attacked. Superhumanly strong, the girl who jumps Felicity changes in front of the heroine’s terrified eyes. The attacker is not a person anymore; it’s a being with fangs and red eyes.

What can I say? Well I was so disappointed after trying to read this first book in the Almost Human 1st Trilogy. I got all hyped up because I was told it was compared to Stephanie Meyers book Twilight but with sex in it. WRONG! There is no sexual action in this first book, matter of fact the only sexual act was kissing and necking along with holding hands and feelings of desire. Was it like Twilight? Absolutely! Actually I would say this was a cross between Twilight and some parts reminded me of ...more

Felicity has just made the big move to college, but she didn't know how wildly her life would change. After all, vampires are just myths.

I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
I was offered a choice of this first episode, or the entire Almost Human First Trilogy (#1-3). As I was a little pressed for reading time, I opted for Fatal Infatuation only.

This was a nice little vampire story. Not much happens in this segment, but it was still a pleasant read. The book is more of a

Original review

This book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Melanie Nowak!

Felicity is going to college to feel independent and like an adult and that plan goes well until she discovers that there are vampires all around her college! Cain is an elder vampire who tries to educate other vampires to live peacefully next to humans. They both get to know each other and everything doesn’t go according to plan…

I’m afraid this book review is a DNF – did not finish

Not because it was grossly offensive, not because it was completely awful, not because it enraged me or offended me or left me outraged. No, it’s a DNF because I was bored, because I saw little that engaged me or drew me in and I was just bored by the time I made it half way through the book.

It felt very paint-by-numbers to me. We have our protagonist, Felicity, going to college in a new town. Which turns out to have vampires in it (a fact she

I don't generally read vampire books; they have never appealed to me. I did read the "Twilight" saga, but at the time it was for a personal project of mine and not out of sheer desire. "Fatal Infatuation" was recommended to me, and I must say, I'm reconsidering the vampire genre. This story follows Felicity, newly graduated from high school and experiencing her first year of college. Turns out, the little college town she now lives in is infested with vampires. But that's not always a bad ...more

Let's begin with a good look at the characters in this book. Our leading lady is Felicity and she has just started college. Young and naive, she doesn't know much about the real world out there and has never even done the deed with a guy. She works at a bookshop that has an attached cafe. Ben is a guy she works with at the cafe and she is interested in at the beginning. That is, until reality comes crashing down in a rather harsh way when she's attacked by some vampires along with Ben on her ...more

Fatal Infatuation is the first book in the first trilogy of the Almost Human series by Melanie Nowak. I have the next two books in the trilogy that I will be reviewing for you later. I wanted to treat each book in the trilogy separate and I couldn't wait to tell you that I really enjoyed this book. The book takes place on a small college campus in New York. Felicity is the main characters. She's from a small town and hopes to reinvent herself and try new things in this next stage of her life. ...more

I read this book the first time almost six months ago. At the time I thought it was a good book but maybe not to my taste. The writing style was good, the characters well flushed out, the plot interesting. Why not to my taste? I'm ashamed to admit it, but maybe not spicy enough. I put the second book on my to be read list for the future, since I did enjoy the book. A few weeks ago, I bought the second book so thought I better read this one again since it had been so long. What can I say, the ...more

This is the first book in the Almost Human trilogy. The story revolves around Felicity (the heroine) and Cain (the hero). It is a very unique story. First of all, each chapter rotates from Felicity’s to Cain’s point of view, but written (thankfully) in third person. There has been an “epidemic” of first person vampire romances going on lately that has gotten very old very quickly. This story starts off pretty slow, but that’s a good thing! You get to know the main and secondary characters very ...more

As Felicity starts college she is not only dealing with a new town, new job, and new frieds, but also the fact that this town has vampires. She is immediately drawn to Cain, who much to Felicity's dismay, happens to be a vampire. With her new friends, Ben and Alyson, she must navigate college life while trying to stay safe at the same time.

Fatal Infatuation is the first volume in Almost Human - the First Trilogy. I have to say I really enjoyed it and can't wait to continue with the next volume.
Not terrible. A Facebook friend recommended this book, and I get the feeling she had met the author. Or, she's trying to drum up support for an independent writer. I think I understand (from the afterword) that Mrs. Nowak was able to self-publish on kindle. I salute her effort.

Having said that, the book is a little on the Twilight-y side. It's not bad, and certainly Felicity has a great deal more gumption than Bella Swan. Of course, so do most doormats, but I don't wish to be unkind. I believe

I really wanted to love this, I honestly did. There were parts of this that really were very well written and engaging. But overall, the plot felt a bit stretched; just a bit like there were too many words telling the story.

The saving grace? The characters. Each of them was well constructed and felt real.

Sadly though, not a hit for me.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

For all you vampire lovers this is a book for you!
It has all the great elements of a great story, complete with romance, suspense and drama. It seemed to have the right touch of everything for me.
I liked the flow of the author's writing as well. Every page seemed connected and often that is not the case. This book is nicely done.
I am surely to recommend this one to all paranormal junkies, don't be put off by the cover. I wasn't fond of it either, but the cover doesn't make the story.
This was a book club book, chosen by a member who loves vampires.

The good: the author has a unique take on vampires and how they are created and live, which is fun in its own way.

The bad: *sigh* I acknowledge that there are people out there who love this kind of stuff (the member of my book club, for example). It is not my bag. A retread of Twilight, but set in a college.

That's all I have to say.

Really enjoyed this book right from the first page. I love Melanie's writing style as I really felt as if I knew the characters quite well very early on in the book. I had to force myself to put it down and am glad that I purchased all 3 books at once so that I could start reading the second one straight away. Am really looking forward to seeing how things eventuate :)

This New Adult romance of a vampire and human love affair definitely keeps you on the edge of your seat! I really enjoyed the author's writing style, and while this particular edition has all three parts in one book, I read it in three parts as individual novellas. I think this made it even more exciting, as it stopped each part right when you want to keep going. One particular thing I enjoyed was that you had a cast of secondary characters that were really important to the story, so while the ...more

This first set revolves about college freshman Felicity who begins to go to college in a small town that is plagued by vampires. She works at a local bookstore and meets Cain, a vampire who wishes to protect her and also teach fellow vampires on how to adapt and live among humans without killing them.

There areTwilightvibes through the first book, but it gains it's own footing after the first few chapters. I was wondering why Felicity's parents were old fashioned due to the fact she didn't have a

I am so happy and excited that I was able to review Fatal Infatuation. The story follows Felicity, who has just started her first term at college away from home and her best friend. She has decided that she will try to re-invent herself as she no longer wants to be known as timid and shy. She meets a few friends in her new job at the cafe and bookstore - Ben, Allie and Cain. Cain has a story of his own. He is a vampire and he is very lonely. He finds it

I just love the Vampires

First, I love Nowak's work, and I read the story of Fatal Infatuation through her release of the novellas, Captivating Vampires, Tempting Transgressions, Venomous Revelations. I've looked at the three different reviews for each novella, and am including portions of those thoughts in this review, and some of my new thoughts on the story. Every time I read a story about vampires and the brush with the paranormal, I find something different. I love that. Each author who

Sometimes, the only difference between two individuals is a pulse.

“Fatal Infatuation” is about a sheltered, young, college girl and a centuries old vampire that have to battle hurdles from their peers because of their blossoming friendship. There were two main characters and three supporting characters. The character’s actions and their dialogue were written in a way that made them lifelike. My favorite character was Ben, a supporting character, because even though he was outwardly crass, he
