She’s an emerging artist. He’s a traveling photographer. When new feelings develop, can true love draw them together?

Lizzie “Mouse” Martin is tired of living in the margins. A troubled childhood and years caring for her ailing mother put her art dreams on hold. When Lizzie loses the family farm, she summons her courage, packs her suitcase, and begins a new life in Edinburgh, Scotland. Her brother’s best friend is hiring… and he still holds the keys to her heart.

Harry Stewart always thought of Lizzie as a little sister. But between overseas photography excursions, Harry glimpses her transformation from timid farm girl to up-and-coming artist. And he can’t help but wonder if their friendship could turn into something much, much more…

When tragedy strikes and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity emerges, Lizzie must make an impossible choice: stay with the man she’s loved all her life or go for the dreams she never thought were possible.

Penny Appleton is the pen name of a mother and daughter team from the south-west of England.

We both enjoy traveling and many of the stories contain aspects of our adventures.

We both like reading. Some of our favorite romance authors include Danielle Steele and Nora Roberts, plus we love The Thorn Birds by Colleen McCulloch, as well as Jane Austen and Stephenie Meyer.

Our favorite movies include Legends of the Fall, A Room with a View, and The Notebook.

We both enjoy walking in nature, and a gin & tonic while watching the sun go down.

One of us is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author in another genre.

We are good friends … although sometimes we want to strangle each other! Family relationships are at the heart of our books.

Love, Home at last by Penny Appleton was a DNF for me this year.

The book wasn't too bad at the beginning. It was kind of your stereotypical romance - a crush, a conflict leading the lead into a new situation, and her changing the trajectory of her life to potentially get together with the crush, and of course... a love triangle.

But then they brought in a dog. And they killed the dog. Brutally. That did it for me. At that point it became an instant nope. Leave the dog alone and don't kill it. Seriously, that one hurt.

I was already struggling through the writing style (it just wasn't for me, nothing against Penny as she's a great writer - it just didn't work well with me at all. I couldn't connect with anyone in the book), so that was the great "the end" moment for me.

One out of five stars.

I found "Love, Home At Last" to be a very enjoyable read. Started it and just kept reading. Read half before bed and finished this morning. The book evoked so many different feelings from joy to tears, just the way a light reading novel should. I will not tell the story here as I hate when people do that and spoil the book. I will say that I intend to look for the other two in this series by Penny Appleton as I really enjoyed the ups and downs. I also enjoyed that it was not a vulgarly sexual book and liked hearing about the different parts of the world concerned. Thanks to Good Reads program for allowing me to read this book and be the first to review it here. Thanks!!!

Another fine novel

I finally have my nose and eyes dried! All the great moments and the sad times. The book kept me from putting it down with all that was going on, is I am ready for another of Me App!Erin's great books. I hope that all will enjoy them as much I do.

Great story

This was the best of the 3. There is not a lot of filler and that is missed a little. But such a delightful romance.
