Westham, Massachusetts, is a delightful tourist town on Cape Cod, and home to bike shop owner Macenzie "Mac" Almeida. After book club one foggy evening, Mac stumbles across a dead body very near her home. Unfortunately evidence found at the scene makes her brother a prime suspect. The pressure is on Mac to clear her brother's name without interfering in the official investigation.

I enjoyed this first book in the Cozy Capers Book Group Mystery. The Cape Cod setting was lovely, and the wonderful

Macenzie "Mac" Almeida has returned to Westham, Massachusetts, after several years away, and she is settling back into the town where she grew up. She's enjoying time with her family, her bike shop is thriving, and she enjoys her weekly meetings with the Cozy Capers, a book club that reads exclusively cozy mysteries. Returning from their meeting one night, Mac stumbles over the dead body of Jake Lacey. Jake didn't have the best reputation in town, and Mac had her own disagreement with the man ov ...more

Great beginning to a new cozy series set in Cape Cod. I love Seaside settings! My favorite part of the book is the Cozy Capers book group and how they read only cozies, and I was familiar with all the authors and titles mentioned having read most of them, too!

In this story, protagonist, Mac Almeida’s brother becomes a suspect in a slaying, and Mac’s innocence is also questioned. Maddie Day intro’s a strong group of characters, both as suspects and those who will be regulars in future stories. As

Murder on Cape Cod was released exclusively at Barnes&Noble a few months ago. It is not currently available on amazon but will be released there on December 31st. I happened upon this book at the bookstore in my area and had no idea it wouldn't be released through amazon until the end of the year! Not that I care all too much because I really enjoyed this one.

I've been wanting to read this since it came out, but I guess waiting three months is a lot less than other books on my TBR have waited. I really loved that the main sleuth Mac and her bestie Gin were cozy mystery fans who loved the books as much as I do. When they found themselves in the middle of a real life mystery, they found themselves referring to their books they'd read for what to do next.

I think at one point I realized who the killer was, but it was fun reading how it played out. The s

MURDER ON CAPE COD by Maddie Day is the first book in the new series – a Cozy Capers Book Group Mystery. Maddie Day has expertly crafted the start of a series that will have you turning pages, feeling like you’re a member of the Cozy Capers book club trying to solve the whodunit and why, while enduring you to the little tourist town of Westham, Massachusetts and its residents.

Enjoyed getting to know Mackenzie “Mac” Almeida by learning about her bicycle shop in the heart of town, its employees an

This a great start to a new series by Maddie Day/Edith Maxwell. She has quickly become one of my go-to authors. I love the setting on Cape Cod—reading the book made me want to visit. The main character, Mac, is a small business owner with a fun group of friends and family. I highly recommend this book, and I’m looking forward to Book 2!

Set on Cape Cod, with many local towns and landmarks, this book captures the essence of the small towns that are still on the outer cape. Mac owns the local bike shop and her boyfriend owns the local bakery. Strangers come to town and a murder ensues. There are several characters introduced including a single dad, family from Cape Verde and others for whom there's a lot of opportunity for development. While the book does not claim to be realistic with respect to places, I found the special incon ...more

What an exciting and delightful first in series by Maddie Day! I enjoyed every minute of meeting MacKenzie "Mac" Almeida, owner of a bike shop that does rentals, repairs, and sales of accessories and clothing for the modern bicyclist. Mac has returned to Cape Cod after several years away - working in Boston, then in the Peace Corp, and another year touring, mostly south of the equator. Her brother, Derrick, and his four year old daughter Coquille "Cokey" returned shortly thereafter. Derrick work ...more

Murder on Cape Cod is a great start to a new series for author Maddie Day and I am looking forward to more books. Ms. Day has wonderfully descriptive writing style that allows her to create a world and craft characters that are so clear to the reader. The characters in this series are well defined for a first book in a new series. The protagonist, Mac, is a mature, no-nonsense business woman who has returned home to open her own bicycle shop. I love that she lives in a tiny house and has a parro ...more

Cute book! An added plus is no profanity and graphic bedroom scenes starting on page 3. This author obviously has a vocabulary and imagination that extends beyond those boundaries. Very refreshing. Will look forward to the next book in the series.

Murder on Cape Cod by Maddie Day is an interesting cozy murder mystery. I love book book clubs and this one had a liking for murder mysteries. What the leading protagonist does not expect is for a murder to happen in her safe small-town area. Yet it does. In fact, she accidentally runs over the dead handyman in the fog. It appears he was stabbed with her brother's knife. All Mac can think about is how Jake died and why. And more importantly who would murder him...

There are so many series that I already read and ones that I want to start reading, I'm delighted when a new series starts and I can get in on the ground floor. Maddie Day, also known as Edith Maxwell, is a prolific writer who already has multiple series she authors. So, of course, the logical move is for Maddie to start yet another wonderful series. As I have a yearning to visit Cape Cod, I was quite pleased when I heard her new series, the Cozy Capers Book Group Mysteries, would be set there, ...more

Murder on Cape Cod by Maddie Day was an entertaining afternoon read. I enjoyed this first book in a new cozy series. Ms. Day's descriptive writing introduced the characters and the small community in great detail. All of the characters are likable and I found myself wanting to visit Cape Cod for myself. A smoothly paced plot with a perplexing murder and very few suspects. I look forward to the next book in this series.

MURDER ON CAPE COD is the first book in the brand new Cozy Capers Book Group Mystery series by Maddie Day. This delightful book introduces us to protagonist MacKenzie “Mac” Almeida, owner of Mac’s Bikes, which caters to tourists visiting the quaint town. I admire Mac for being super handy and she not only runs her business but also does the bike repairs herself. I also enjoy the way the author portrays women succeeding in traditionally male-dominated roles in this new book. Ms. Day has created a ...more

I totally knew who did it ...... no only kidding !!! I had NO idea. And that is what makes a GREAT cozy mystery and Maddie Day knows how to capture the reader from the first word on the first page until the very last word and the reader has closed the book for the last time. And she doesn't waste any time.....

In Murder on Cape Cod, the first book in her new series A Cozy Capers Book Group Mystery, you have the murder taking place immediately. By the time you have read 5 pages, you are already in

I really like cozy mysteries if I am reading to relax and Maddie Day has written a really good one. The setting is fun and don't we all want to live (or at least summer) on Cape Cod? Mac is a fun character and has a great little bike rental and repair store. I loved all the characters and they are quite diverse, especially for Cape Cod. I loved her family - supportive and a good add to the book. I could so see a group of mystery lovers, a mystery book club, no less, deciding to take on some sleu ...more

As a big fan of Maddie Day's Country Store mystery series, I was really looking forward to the debut of her new Cozy Capers series. Set in a fictional town on the very real Cape Cod region of Massachusetts, the book features Mackenzie Almeida, a bike shop owner and member of a book club group that is devoted to the cozy mystery genre.

The catalyst for this first book in the series comes from a dead body that Mac discovers while walking home from a meeting of said book club. Having recently had a

I was so excited to receive the ARC for this book. From the first page, you were immersed in the characters lives. As you tried to figure out who murdered Jake Lacey and why, you learned the personal histories and relationships between the characters. For me, that is one of the best things. The characters had their good and bad points, flaws and strengths. I also enjoy a book when I can learn something new. The unique cultural background of these characters did just that. It is the first volume ...more
