Philippe Mercurio is a science fiction writer and author of the MALLORY SAJEAN series.
A huge fan of Jack Vance and of manga like "Battle Angel Alita," he has spent years creating his own science fiction universe with only one objective: to take the reader on a faraway journey full of adventure.

"Procyon Shattered" and "Sileise Raided" are his first stories in the MALLORY SAJEAN series. He is currently working on the next book, "Aldebaran Divided."

When Philippe Mercurio is not writing, he likes trying new things to eat or drink with his friends, even if it ends up badly. He also enjoys classic cars, because driving a 30 years old coupé is a bit like flying the Millennium Falcon: you never know if you'll get lightspeed.

I received this book for free through Voracious Readers Only.

Station in Peril is a science fiction novella inspired in part by the Paris attacks in November 2015.
Captain Mallory Sajean and her crew stop at a space station for a few days of relaxation, and instead are surprised by a hostage situation. The Maslik tribe, fanatics followers of the Sorfal - a dangerous criminal in custody of the police - demand that the Sorfal is released. The police, who are outnumbered, allow Mallory to step in and help. With the station systems failing, Mallory and the police will have to free the hostages before it's too late.

"Mallory drew the revolver Taskaï-Rij had given her. So that's it, she thought. Instead of indulging myself in a hot bath, I'm using a mad alien who can crush me with a single hand for target practice."

A well-written and fast-paced action story with high stakes.
I loved how both the good guys and the bad guys are aliens. In fact I think Mallory was the only human in the book. I love how she stands up for what is right, disregarding her own safety if needed for the greater good. She is a strong character.
I think Station in Peril does a good job of introducing Mallory and her motley crew. It makes me want to check out the rest of the series.

A Space Opera

Wow! Everything happened so fast -- a quick read. BUT it was exciting, intriguing, believeable, action packed and definitely violent! Good reading for young adults or mature readers.

An explosive adventure involving hostages, epic battles and near death experiences due to very large explosions. It start with a bang and does not stop til it reaches the end.

I am volunteering a review for the author.

Excellent French import, in good English.

Author freebie. A brief story set after the first book of the series. It sort of reminds me of Barbarella? A ship captain, her bodyguard and intelligent ship are having adventures.

Wow! What a rush! Sileise Raided hits the space station running from the get-go and does not stop until the very end. This quick read packed quite a punch for me and brings back the days of when I devoured SciFy. For me this was a great introduction to author Philippe Mercurio, and an even better one to what looks like is going to be an exciting series.

Mallory is a great character. Strong, smart, and at the wrong place at the wrong time. All she wanted was a few days relaxing, a hot bath and a hot meal. Instead she ends up a on a space station that has been taken over by fanatics that look like…tadpole? Wait! If that doesn’t make you giggle, they are followers of the Sorfal who resembles a giant slug. I probably should laugh but what can I say, I found it humorous. Her crew consists of Torg, a cybrid, and Jazz, a human brain encased in the ships management system. I adored Torg but it’s Jazz who had taken me for surprise. A human brain encased…Holy The Ship Who Sang, Batman!

Anyhow…Mallory and her crew find themselves helping out the outnumbered station police and what ensues is nothing but fast paced, and brilliant. Great characters, action packed, and a hint of humor, Sileise Raided made for quite a tasty read. Oh look, there’s a previous book I have missed out on. Time to rectify that. I’ll definitely be recommending this series.

I received a free review copy of this novella.

While a quick, engaging read and entertaining as a way to pass the time, this novella had some pretty noticeable issues that made it a bit harder to get though that it otherwise would have been. The decision to make this standalone has a pretty big impact on the pace of the opening sections as bursts of action are slowed down by cramming needed exposition into them. Further, peppered throughout are awkward or otherwise questionable sentences that felt very cumbersome to read. Finally, the insistence of the characters to be overly macho and play the role of an action hero without warranting it made them feel awkward and fictional more times than not. Often this took the shape of dialogue that feels wholly unnatural to anyone who isn't trying to appear as cool as the protagonist in an action book. It's worth the read of you already love the series or just need something quick and fun to tear your way though.

All she wanted was a break as she pulled into the space station. It will not be restful as there is battle going on and a hostage situation. She joins up with the police to try to get the situation under control. Now will they do it? Can they do it? Can they save the hostage? See if they can

I received this novella through Voracious Readers. As a novella it doesn't take long to read. Mallory Sajean is a totally over the top heroine who has a total kick ass attitude. If you like your space opera with lots of fighting, weird aliens and an improbable storyline, this one is for you.

This is a slightly longer than an hour audio that was narrated by AI. I believe I will reread this in ebook form. I do not want to take anything away from a story just because of AI. It was too distracting with the mistakes and odd pauses in phrasing.

This reads like it's for youth readers. Just an action escape adventure with poor dialogue.

Entertaining but the characters try so much to be badass that it becomes boring.
