I am not a "self help" book girly. I read this just for book club bingo row. Not for me.

This is a short, easy read but it has a lot of practical information. I like that this book has exercises to do to help show you how and where you can incorporate more healthy habits. I've already incorporated several small steps that are helping me improve my life. Even though I checked this book out at the library, I'm adding it to my "Want to purchase" list because I feel I could benefit from rereading it and I would like to have my entire family read it (especially my children) who have been wallowing in bad habits during the COVID Quarantine. (Warning: if having children read this: there is a brief mention of "making love" with your significant other as a way to gain intimacy. It is tastefully done and not explicit.) This book is written in such a way that makes it easy to put these habits into practice.

4th habit book I have read this quarter. What kept me engaged was the authors opening in the introduction about Taking Action vs Being an Information Junkie, felt like a bitch slap awakening on my procrastinating tendencies.

Really liked the opening of starting with the exercise of reflection and the simplicity of the chapters and the examples at the end of the chapters on habits one can implement for morning, work, etc.

If your not familiar with habit hacks he covers at least two in this book (of which other authors make entire books out of)

Really enjoyed the chapter about systems vs goals. Resonates with my takeaway from reading 'Atomic Habits.'

I was feeling stuck now i see I'm on the right track. Pizza isn't the only way to mend a hurt soul and the sound of tape wouldn't fix what had been broken. It sure kept me hopeful in a day accepting my childhood hero fell, didn't mean i would let myself do the same to myself. I needed to do more. Thank you for writing this book.

This book was pretty stupid but I’m a sucker for a good self help book:) I liked how it broke down individual healthy habits, but a lot of it was just common sense. Honestly surprised I finished this book-it was very boring.

This is the kind of book I pick up again and again. I just finished my third time reading it, and it's great inspiration to me as I always want to improve how I spend my time on this planet. Recommended:)

After traveling for more than a month, I'm often hard-pressed to return to a state of normalcy. This tiny book helped me get back on the path of daily rituals and goal setting. Handel provides a no-nonsense guide and summary of information you can find elsewhere, like Gawande's "A Checklist Manifesto," Baumeister and Tierney's "Willpower: Rediscovering the Greatest Human Strength," and Duhigg's "The Power of Habit."

The most helpful discussions centered on the vital difference between systems (focus on process) versus goals (focus on outcome), the power of mental rehearsal techniques, the need and role of leisure in our daily life, and rituals versus routines. Also, Handel's pithy advice that we should stop behaving like information junkies and prioritize learning what we will put into action ... Hit hard and true.

Great, simple and powerful ideas. I have been following Steven Handel articles in the Emotion Machine blog/website for the last 10 years or so, and they have helped me grow and open my mind to larger and more profound realities and explanations.
