I love Herrndorf, and I was so happy when I heard that NYRB Classics has finally published a translation of Sand: Now you can read at least two of his works in English, the other one being Tschick (with the idiotic English title Why We Took the Car). "Stimmen" (Voices) is the third book by Herrndorf published posthumously (the author committed suicide after the symptoms of his glioblastoma had worsened), and while he intended his diary Arbeit und Struktur and the fragmentary novel Bilder deiner großen Liebe to be put out as ...more

...more

Beautifully written, very sad, every short story feels like someone forget to close the window during the whole winter (November to April).
