Life is unpredictable. Vivian learned that the hard way and did the only thing she could: she ran. But life isn’t about to let her off easy.

Nash is everything a woman wants and nothing Vivian could have planned for. Gorgeous with his sexy blue-eyed stare, toned body, and wearing a cowboy hat, he’s the perfect package and Vivian’s ideal rebound. Too bad he wants nothing to do with her. That’s fine. Vivian wasn’t looking for love anyway, but her meddling new roommate has other ideas.

Two people from different worlds shouldn’t make sense, but desire is an animal that won’t be denied. With secrets lurking on both sides of the fence, however, it’s just a matter of time before someone gets hurt.

You can see this review along with an excerpt and giveaway here Nadine's Obsessed with Books

This book, for me, shows the sweeter side of J.C. Valentine's writing, if you are looking for an erotic read this isn't it....well maybe the next book in the duet but definitely not this first one. In this one we start off with two people that don't know anything about one another they just don't like what they see, but you know what they say about reading a book by its cover..... Yes this does change but it takes a while along with the helping hand of a sweet older woman, Greata, that really knows how to speak her mind.

Nash holds things close to the vest and doesn't like Vivian right from the start, whether its because she's a city girl that's driving through town in her car that is worth more than what most make in a year or something else, he just has no tolerance for her and he's not afraid to let her know it. Now, Vivian, if there is someone that can get under your skin in a good way it's her. Her husband cheated on her with another man and then served her divorce papers, as if that isn't bad enough he took everything from her and left her with her fancy car and the few things she could fit into a couple of suitcases. He closed her credit card accounts and left her without a place to live and he was the one that cheated! I felt so bad for her, and I really liked her too. But the one that really won my heart was Greata, this woman has been around the block a few times and she isn't afraid to bestow her wisdom on anyone, Nash included. Greata is a hoot!

Finding Home is the first part in the Roped by the Cowboy Duet and I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys cowboy romances as well as a sweet contemporary romance. Happy Reading!!!

When Vivian learns that her husband has other ideas about their happily ever after, and unexpectedly hands her divorce papers, she isn't quite sure what to do with herself. She thought her life was near perfect, one minute she was living the high society life, the next she was loading her meager belongings into her car and hitting the road in search of a new life. Which takes her to a little one horse town, full of eccentric folks, that welcome her with open arms... well all of them except one extremely stubborn and wickedly sexy cowboy!

The moment she meets Nash she decides he is a grumpy jerk that doesn't deserve her time. But the man under the cowboy hat may just surprise the heck out of her, her first impression of him is all wrong, there is a good man under there, she just has to be patient and he'll eventually let his true colors show. But just as they started to find their place in one another's lives, her past comes back to haunt her and puts a wrench her new life...and once again she is at a loss!

Finding Home is a heartwarming story of new beginnings, discovering true love, and learning there is life after heartbreak. Vivian and Nash are quite the pairing, neither are in the market for love, but their pesky elderly friend has other ideas for them, and she isn't about to let them, let their second chance at love slip away. Every chance she has she is putting them together and hoping the sparks swirling around them will ignite the something special brewing between them... and boy is it fun to watch them fight it every step of the way. These two brought life to the pages, their banter stirred up lots of laughs and plenty of heat, and their constant fight against their personal demons really tugged on the heartstrings. I really enjoyed this newest offering from Ms. Valentine, it was unlike anything I have read from her in the past, and I am dying to see how it will all fall into place in the next installment. I highly recommend you get your hands on this one, you really can't go wrong with this good-hearted cowboy on a quest to find love!

I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.

J.C. has done it again! I love a good cowboy story but this was so much more.

We get to meet Vivian and Nash in this story. They are two different people from two different worlds. Nash is a cowboy. A down to earth guy who lives a simple life. Nash is every woman's wet dream. Sexy, smart and wholesome. Vivian is a city girl who had it all but lost it in a split second. What happened to Vivian was just cold blooded and if that ever happened to me I would kick some serious a$$

Vivian meets Nash and she is in instant lust and wants him but Nash my man wants nothing to do with her. Nash wants nothing to do with a city girl. She doesn't know what a simple life means and Nash is not hearing it. Vivian is determined though to let Nash know that she may be from the city but she is worth giving a try.

Will Nash give her a chance or will he tell her to kick boots and get to stepping? I will tell you the ending had me like no way this is not how it ends but it has me needing book two like ASAP!

This author is becoming my go to author when I want a great read. Vivian need a new start and drives aimlessly towards the coast. Unexpected car troubles waylay her getting to the ocean and she ended up in a dinky little town where everybody helps everybody in knows their business. She meets Nash when fancy little car blows out a tire, things to go downhill from there. Gretta is the matriarch of the town and it’s a riot, some of the things that come out of her mouth are really hilarious. Complete opposites Nash and Vivian complement each other- he is a country boy and she is a city girl. When her ex-husband comes in to town stirring up trouble will she took tail and run or stand up to him? I can’t wait for the second installment in the duet!!!

What is there not to love when a classy city woman runs out of gas in a small town? Then to have a sexy cowboy ride up on his horse to assist the woman is a recipe for a hot sexy book that is a real page turner. I love Vivian and Nash's story, but you can't forget about Gretta as she is such a big part of the story. With all the chemistry and the different lives these two have lived, it is not all smooth sailing as their chemistry singes the pages on part one of their romance. I look forward to reading part two of this duet for Vivian and Nash to get their HEA. 4.5 Stars!

Such a wonderful story about Vivian who is running away from her upper class restricted life after finding her husband in bed with another man. Everything she owns is packed into her porche. Driving the long highway to an unknown location. Nash a widowed cowboy who is a little rough around the edges who head a soft spot for his elderly neighbour Gretta. A great second chance at love so it seemed, however before it has even begun Vivian is surprised when Andrew her exhusband appears claiming that the divorce wasn't finalised. A great story and I can't wait for this story to continue.

REVIEW: 3.75 stars--FINDING HOME is the first instalment in J.C. Valentine’s contemporary, adult ROPED BY A COWBOY romance duology focusing on ranch hand Nash MacArthur, and divorcee Vivian Parish.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Vivian and Nash) FINDING HOME follows newly divorced Vivian Parish as she sets out on her own in search of something new. Arriving in Hayfield, South Carolina Vivian will meet her future in the guise of ranch hand Nash MacArthur, a man who pushes all of our heroine’s buttons-both good and bad. What ensues is the slow building relationship between Vivian and Nash, and the potential fall-out as Vivian’s past comes looking for a second chance, a second chance that comes with a pronouncement.

Nash MacArthur has loved and lost, and isn’t ready to start over, again. Meeting Vivian Parish finds our hero struggling with memories of the past, a past he has yet to move beyond to the present. Vivian Parish had no idea where she was going when she left Chicago, and drove to South Carolina-a flat tire and an empty tank of gas meant Vivian would find herself as part of a match-making scheme when seventy-eight year old widow Ms. Gretta sets plans into motion to help Nash and Vivian fall in love.

The relationship between Vivian and Nash is one of immediate attraction but Vivian is quick to judge the actions of the man with whom she may fall in love. Nash doesn’t do relationships having lost someone years before but falling for Vivian Parish meant Nash placed his heart in a precarious position to be broken-once again. There are no $ex scenes.

The secondary and supporting characters include ranch owner Ms. Gretta; Vivian’s ex-husband Andrew DeBoises, as well as a number of ranch hands and nosy townsfolk who keep an ear to the ground about the newcomers to town.

FINDING HOME is a story of love, loss, family, friendships, small town living, and big city expectations. The premise is engaging and sweet; the characters are feisty and sassy; the romance has only begun. FINDING HOME does not end on a cliff-hanger but ‘more to come’.

Vivian has a perfect life, or so she thinks but all that changes when the rug from under her and she finds herself face to face with divorce. Life as she knew it was over almost instantly and she was facing a future that she would never have contemplated. She packs everything she can into her car and takes off, in search of not just a new normal but also to find herself in amongst that chaos.

She eventually ends up in probably the last place she would have ever thought possible, a little country town that despite her reticence seems more than happy to add her to their ranks...or at least most of them do!

It wouldn't be a great JC Valentine novel if it didn't have a barrel full of angst and in this story, the angst comes all wrapped up in a handsomely stubborn, yet devilishly sexy package that was all topped of with the ubiquitous cowboy hat!

Vivian and Nash appeared to be polar opposites but when the truth be told they were more alike than either of them would have like to admit. Vivian couldn't help but think that Nash was a grumpy a$$ but that didn't mean that she was getting the whole picture, because it didn't take long for it to become clear that there was a lot more to him that she gave him credit for.

Could they give each other the time to get to know what really makes them tick or will life get in the way?

Well, let's just say that when life does catch up with Vivian it does its darndest to make sure that she is totally sideswiped, can she find her feet again? and will Nash be the guy to stand by her as she does?

I liked both Nash and Vivian, there was an honesty to the pair of them, neither of them was on the market for a partner but that doesn't mean that they didn't need one. I loved the way they both fought the inevitable.

With this being part one of the duet, I can only say that I cannot wait until I get the rest of the story because this was pure JC Valentine magic.

Upper Class city woman Vivian just filed divorce from her husband after finding out he cheated on her. She gasses up her porsche and decides to just go to where ever the road leads. She is almost outta gas and then she has a blowout on a country road in some hick town. Prince Cowboy shows up on horseback and fixes her tire and helps her find her way. She ends up at Gretta's place . Gretta is a fiesty older widow who is lonely she offers Vivian a place for the night . What she ends up getting is a true family a home. She went from lost and alone to fitting right in. Nash the Cowboy works for Miss Gretta and is always running into Vivian the feeling are there, but these have had a heartbreak in the past and are slow to move on. Gretta ain't having it she knows they belong together and is heck bent on making it so. When Vivian and Nash spent time together, Vivian's ex comes to take her back home. She realizes that she doesn't want to go, but needs too so she can fix her unfinished business. Nash is angry at her and she is back to feeling lost all over again.
This does end in a cliffy I knew it did, but it ended in a good spot, and I am ready to see if Nash and Vivian can overcome and forgive. Gretta made this story, that woman needs her own book. Being from the south myself I felt right at home. Yes Sweet Ice TEa is the only tea your need. I was so happy to get a copy of this book to share my ideas and thoughts about the story.

Vivian Parish just found out her husband, well now her ex-husband, cheated on her with with a guy! Embarrassed and not knowing what to do, Vivian took off hoping to find a new direction in her life. Growing up wealthy, Vivian has not experienced much in life. While on her way to the ocean, Vivian's car gets a flat tire in a small, no-name town. Imagine her surprise when a good looking cowboy rescues her! Too be he ends up being a jerk!

Nash MacArthur knows this little cutie is just passing through. She's too fancy to stay in a little town like his. After fixing her flat, he tells her where the gas station is. Of course, Vivian runs out of gas. From here a whole series of fun events start happening and the next thing you know, Vivian ends up staying at Ms. Gretta's place.

As Vivian spends more time here, things begin to change between her and Nash. She finds out he has things from his past that he is also running from. As Vivian and Nash are beginning to explore things, something from her past comes crashing back. Now it seems Vivian has some soul searching to do. Finally making a decision, Vivian decides to take control of her life. Of course we need to wait until the next book to see what will happen!

I really enjoyed these characters. They both had flaws, but deep down they both just yearned for someone to love them. As for Ms Gretta's, she is a hoot! Love this old broad!

JC Valentine is one of my favorite authors and I've read almost everything she's written. One thing I love about her is she's not afraid to try something different. Finding Home is unlike any of her other works and I have to honestly say, I think this is one of the best written stories she's released. The writing just seemed so natural and the flow of the story makes me think this is a genre where JC truly belongs!

Vivian and Nash were two individuals looking for an escape. Though they were complete opposites, there was no denying the attraction between them. JC was spot on with her character developments--city girl meets super hot cowboy--and she nailed everything about living in the country. I felt I was right there living with Gretta and having breakfast right alongside the guys, Nash and Vivian. The story felt genuine and it was fun where it needed to be yet serious in other situations.

I am super excited that there will be more books in this series because JC is on to something with this cowboy romance!! An amazing story that worked its way into my heart and wouldn't let go!

I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.

In this book we meet Vivian and Nash. Vivian just wants to see the ocean but what she will settle for is civilization. One look however at the sexy cowboy has her practically jumping for joy. To bad that is the same moment one of her tires decides to blow. Vivian knows she should look but not touch if her divorce has taught her anything however there is just something about that cowboy. The more things that happen to her the the more she wonders if this is really where she was supposed to land all along. Can she find what she is looking for or will she just have found a wonderful stop on her journey?

This is an amazing story. This author has another fabulous hit on her hands. The characters will grab you from the first word and won't let go when the story end. This book does have it's ups and downs that I really want to tell you about. However I don't want to ruin it for any other readers. I will say this book will have you hooked from the first word to the very end. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.

I have read almost all of J.C. Valentine's books and I have to say that so far this one is in my top 5 reads.

Vivian knows that she needs to get away from the life that she has always known. When she decides to just get in the car and drive with no real destination in mind besides the ocean. When she ends in a town that is so small that everyone knows everyone and what is happening, she is not sure she will stay. However, the people of the town really start to grow on her what will she do?

Nash is a cowboy and nothing like Vivian has every seen in her life. He is also a jerk and does anything in his power to make Vivian know that she doesn't belong. That is until things between them start to change. What will happen when things are good between them? Will they get to build a relationship or will the past come to bit Vivian in the behind?

This book does end in a cliffhanger and I really can't wait to read what happens next between Vivian and Nash.

I received an advanced/review copy of this book. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content and honesty of my review.

I loved this book. At first, I wasn't a fan of Vivian; she was, frankly, somewhat of a spoiled princess at the beginning, but as her character developed, I grew to love her. She went from being snooty and unapproachable to being sweet, caring, and friendly. I just loved getting to know her.

Nash is a bit of a jerk and he has a huge chip on his shoulder, but you understand his reasons later on. He's sexy, sarcastic, and hardheaded, but I love him. Beneath his rough exterior is a sweet and caring man who would do anything for anybody, and I can't wait to get to know him more in the next book.

When the unexpected happens Vivian gets in her only possession she owned .. her Porsche .. and drove and drove and drove, she wanted to see the water but when the gas gauge reads empty and then a flat tire she i has to make a detour and it was the BEST detour she could have made.

When she has to make an unexpected stop in Hayfield she thinks maybe just maybe she could make herself a new home here. The people in this small town are all so friendly and welcoming that maybe she will stay.

When a certain Cowboy reeks havoc on her heart she isn’t sure she can stay just because Gretta .. the grandma she never had .. asks her too.

She needs to fix the problem in Chicago first before she can fix her heart. But will it be too late when she finally signs on the dotted line and trays to make it back to Hayfield.

The BIG cliffhanger is if she will find what she is looking for or will it me too late .. NASH ....

Vivian thought she had found her prince, but he turned into a frog and all she has to show for it is an expensive car and some clothes. When her car breaks down, she finds herself stranded in a small town which is beginning to feel a lot like her new beginning except for one grumpy cowboy.

Nash is a man with a painful past. He isn’t about to let a city girl who isn’t staying around anywhere near him or his heart. Spending time together they both realize that there is a lot more to each other than they first thought but when Vivan’s past isn’t as far behind her as they thought will it destroy the fragile feelings they have for each other?

Vivian and Nash couldn’t be more different but the one thing they do share is a painful past. Humorous banter, heat and great secondary characters, especially Gretta, all combine and leave you wanting to know what happens in the second part of the duet.

Finding Home follows the story of Vivian and Nash. They happen upon one another when Vivian blows a tire while driving through the country on her way to nowhere in particular, just trying to escape the life she left behind. She then finds her way to a small town being welcomed with kindness she's not familiar with being from the city. It's in this small southern town that she starts to find herself and where she has many more encounters with the charming Nash. The two have great chemistry that develops with time. Then before long her old life drags her back to the city. In the end though she winds up back in the small town that feels like home to her, drawn back by hopes of a second chance with Nash. This was a very sweet and cute story. It also has a great bit of humor. I really enjoyed reading Vivian and Nash's journey and I look forward to reading the end of their story.

Who does not love a cowboy. Nash was freaking yummy. I fell in love with him.

I loved how fate just guiding Vivian to this town. Reading the book you might think fate had nothing to do with it but I do. This was the town Vivian needed to start her fresh start. It had what she truly needed and who she truly needed.

I love small towns and how well they pull together and are there for each other. Though there were some down sides to which Vivian will soon find out.

Gretta was so funny and I love how she was like the mother of the town. The one thing about Gretta is she knew what was going on and loved to gossip. I love how the town loved her so much they done their best to take care of her.

Seems like Vivian and Nash have a hard time getting together. Between Nash’s issues and Vivian’s past you wonder it will ever happen.

This was a great story and glad I got a chance to read it.

Beautiful, thoughtful, compelling. Vivian to me has always been lost. She got married out of convenience, something that just happened but without love. Then her husband cheats on her and she just drives. She lands in small town America where life moves at a very different pace from the big city. What she doesn’t expect is to find acceptance, love, friendship, without any strings. This was so unexpected for me as I went on this journey with Vivian. She meets amazing people, Gretta and Nash, that force her to really look at who she is and what she wants. There is hope for love with Nash until her husband arrives. But there is hope, this journey isn’t finished. Very excited to experience part 2. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.

This is a different read from JC Valentine. This book is sweet and so different from her other books. The characters are just as well developed and the plot is as good as all her books. We find a woman, Vivian, whose life has been ripped away from her. A city girl who finds her way to a small town in the country. Nash is a cowboy and a simple man. He doesn't like Vivian and her city ways. This was a fun read and I can't wait to read more in this series!

My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read.

Finding Home (Roped by the Cowboy, 1) by J.C. Valentine

How do you love someone you don't understand? Two deeply broken people are about to find out. Nash and Vivian are flawed. Their journey is not always pretty. More often than not, it's down right frustrating, but Valentine makes it hard to walk away from a possible train wreck. Finding Home is a heartbreak waiting to happen. Will these lost souls survive the dark side of heartache or will their chance for a happy ending, go up in smoke? Finding Home brings the humanity to heartache.

City Girl and Sexy Cowboy

Gahhh! Gotta get the next book! Vivian, a bit of a ditz, newly divorced. Takes off from Chicago in her Porsche, drives till she runs out of gas. Nash, sexy cowboy, rides into her life. They antagonize each other. Greta, an elderly woman, takes her in. The ex husband, or is he, comes to Podunk SC, to get her back. The story that ensues is riveting. I have to move onto the next book! The story of Vivian's journey to find a home is poignant and heart wrenching. From a New Fan... Pam James

I ❤ Gretta!!! She absolutely MADE this story for me. Perfect small town staple.

This was something new from JC Valentine and I really liked it. Vivian and Nate's City Girl & Country Boy, opposites attract chemistry was radiating off my kindle. I enjoyed how welcoming this town was to Vivian and how it was instrumental it was in her growth. I wanted to seriously hurt Andrew numerous times throughout this book and hated how it changed Vivian's relationship with Nate, when it was just getting better.

Can't wait for Staying Home...

Vivian is desperate for a fresh start after finding her husband in bed with another man. She's packed everything she owns into her Porche and is now on a road trip to nowhere. Until she gets an unexpected flat that has her crossing paths with a man and his horse.

This is a sweet and sassy story filled with feisty banter, new friendships, and the desire to trust again. I look forward to reading the next book in this series.

I'm loving the start of this duet so much. I felt connected to Vivian. Lost and alone in the world, wanting to be independent but needing a connection. I'm looking forward to more of everyone. Nash and his quiet strength. Gretta is amazing, the wisdom of her years, her quirks that made me smile. Loved it and can't wait for the next step in Vivian's life.

I love the pace of Finding Home. There’s no rush to get to the end. It reminded me of sitting on a rocking chair on the front porch with a glass of sweet tea on a cool night. We learn about Vivian and so much about Nash. Vivian and Nash are more than opposites and they worked perfectly. Their stories will steal your heart and the references to cowboy living was right on. This love after heartbreak story is beautiful and I can’t wait for more.

I've read a lot of J.C. Valentine's books and this one was so different than her normal. I absolutely adored it. It's a quick read, I finished in a day. I love how strong and witty Vivian is, she doesn't put up with anyone's crap. Nash is a hard one, after losing his wife it's understanding. And Greta, I absolutely love her, she's meddling, gossiping and truly cares for everyone in the small town. Can't wait to see if Nash and Vivian get a happy ending in the next book.

Vivian needed a change of scenery to get away from her ex husband. Nash needed to let of the pain he’s carried for too long. Their meeting was less than ideal but slowly they began to have respect for each other. Thanks to a meddling mother figure the pair start to spend more time together and the chemistry between them is hard to deny. Just when they were about to get close an unexpected problem occurs that may end their relationship before it ever truly begins.

I love how JC Valentine can write a combination of books and still intrigue me with each one. Finding Home definitely showcases how flexible her book style can be and the different genres she writes. This book was as amazingly written and I absolutely loved it. I love Nash and Vivian and their different personalities. I can't wait to see what's next.
