Well, this is an extraordinarily annoying read. I've studied musical theater for well over 40 years, and have written numerous produced musicals. The author of this book is a dyed-in-the-wool fan of Sondheim, and basically credits him with creating the world ion 6 days, improving upon the previous model. He can essentially do little wrong, and created the modern musical single-handedly. Her understanding of the history of the musical - what came before Sondheim - is just about small to none. This book is really wonderful for anyone wanting to study very deeply into the works of Sondheim. For me, in my class preparation for "Into the Woods", it was invaluable.
