In an easy-to-read story with a focus on rhyming word families, Ray and his alien pals Zip, Zat, and Zing are on a fantastic speed chase to the finish line. Original.
As the space races race, readers can enjoy this fun and engaging book. It is filled with rhyming words and includes phonics activities for the readers. Children will definitely have fun with this book and can also learn from it while doing so. I enjoyed reading this as an adult, so I can just imagine how a kid could feel while reading. I plan on having this book available for my future students as well as my children.
I absolutely appreciate that this book has, “A Note to Parents,” at the very beginning of the book. This note includes how parents can help and support their young readers in developing their reading skills. It also lets the parents know how the book itself will help their children with their reading fluency. My favorite part about this note is the reminder to, “have fun with the books and instill the joy of reading in your child.” Parents play a huge part in their child’s reading development and this book gives parents great advice on how to help.
The illustrations are fun and colorful. Even though this settling is in outer space there are no scary aliens, the aliens are friendly, giving the reader a positive reading experience. The illustrations range from being zoomed out to being close up. Some pictures even seem to be coming out of the book, bringing the reader in and making them feel more a part of the story.
