Once again Whitley Cox connects two unlikely characters into a love story that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Krista and Brock may be instantly connected by one night of drunk passion but that does not stop the two very different people from making the most of their time together. Then throw in the danger that seems to follow Krista and makes the introvert Brock open not just his home but also his heart and you have an emotional read that had more twists and turns than a roller coaster. This is one ride that I did not want to get off of. With a storyline that had me from the opening pages and the heart warming characters you could not help but fall in love with them, this is a book you do not want to miss.

I hate misleading blurbs, and this one certainly didn’t mention that the FMC and MMC (STRANGERS) have a ONS resulting in a pregnancy. CHAPTER three, and she is pregnant! I do not read books with a pregnancy that propels the romance. Surprise preg at the end … okay. That’s not this book. The pregnancy is the plot device that moves the storyline, and that should be in the blurb!
Here’s a review of what I read up until the FMC had an aha moment that she’s pregnant before 10% mark in the f’ing book.
• Writing style immediately strikes me as sucks ass via a cracked straw, and this is so far from the quality of writing I’d expect from a seasoned author with several dozen books under her belt…
1. Too many words to say the same thing:
“Well, move it. We want to get a move on.”
“Is this everything for you?” the teenybopper with overdone eye makeup behind the checkout asked. “You managed to find everything you were looking for okay?”
2. Grammatically complicating and butchering sentences:
”He went to smack her butt, but at the last second, Staff Sergeant Wicks walked by, so he let his hand travel past her hip and land on the table.”
“More often than not, Krista found herself turning away from his stare, avoiding eye contact at any cost, because the longer she held his gaze, the more it felt as though Lucifer himself was staring back at her.”
3. Simple grammatical errors everywhere:
“Myles Slade was the kind of serial killer that {{{who}}} was handsome.”
4. Poor descriptions. Never seen a round face with sharp features, and I never knew men with steadfast rosy glows were masculine:
..”his features were masculine and sharp. Tall and blond with square shoulders and a round face.” ….. “It was easy to see why several the women at the precinct fawned over him. And his cheeks held that forever rosy glow, liked he’d just come in from the cold outdoors.”
• Zero logic here…
Never seen a cop stand outside their vehicle IN THE RAIN with a radar gun checking traffic speed:
“The windshield wipers were on full bore and the roads were slick from the sudden rainstorm.”… “Heavy rain and gray sky be damned, she was easy to spot.” YET… She stood on the side of the road with her hip cocked and the radar gun pointed directly at his truck.”
2. Voices aren’t distinguished:
“Good, good.” Wicks chuckled.
“Good, good.” (Brock)
3. Same conversation has two different answers:
“I pulled over a lot of people today. Issued a lot of citations. I can’t remember everyone’s name.” Yet, five pages later a different answer… “I didn’t issue any citations.”
• One night stranger sex between MCs in chapter two…
1. WTF gives oral to some random chick?
2. WTF goes bareback with some random ONS?
3. WTF thinks this is a sexy sex line:
“But no beer goggles. I’d fuck you sober, too.”
I quit reading @12% because pregnant ONS stranger romance is a no-go. Storyline aside, this is just sloppy writing. Goose egg on the stars.

Have you ever devoured a book and just wanted it to never end. Hard Hart is that book, you will fall in love with not only the characters but their story. This storyline will captivate you and will hold you locked to the words. This is a book that has it all from chemistry, passion, heat & steam, suspense, drama and lets not forget LOVE!!!!! Brock and Krista will make you laugh, cry, swoon and overall show you it is characters and stories like these that are the reason you love reading so much. Hard Hart deserves ten stars instead of the five I can give it. If you read only one Whitley Cox book in your lifetime this is the one, but be warned it probably won’t be your last. Bring on more of the Hart boys because I don’t want to say goodbye.

I absolutely loved this book. It had a lot of things going on but it sucked you in. I couldn't put book down once started.
I loved Brock and Krista together, they may of been banded together because of circumstances. But you could tell they had feelings together. Brock can be a difficult man but Krista helps.
I can't wait for more.

Wow, what a book! It was an absolutely fantastic and enjoyable series starter! This story had me hooked from the beginning and kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. It is well written with a well-developed plot, moves along at a brisk pace and is quite the page turner. The violent suspense, action, witty banter, and talk of sexual abuse had my heart racing. The characters are amazing and perfect; the side characters also add to the high level of excitement. The intimacy between Brock and Krista is smoking hot and intense. This book is guaranteed to knock your socks off. It could not have been better in my opinion. I am looking forward to reading book 2.

Brock & Krista
Two tough people who aren't ready for a relationship. A few too many drinks and surprise they are going to have to manage something. She is a cop still in training and he works for a security company. The oldest of four brothers, he has been the man of the house since he was twelve and his father died. Control is essential for both of them. Life together is gonna be each trying to put their foot forward stepping in front. Who's gonna win?
Protecting her is even more important when he finds out she is being harassed by her trainer.
The story is fun, serious, emotional with characters that are related, friends, and often funny, but always loyal. Protecting Krista becomes more important when others need protection as well. A good story with characters that are likable but often need a nudge in the right directions. I am anxious for the next brother's story.

I am a big Whitley Cox fan. I don't care what she is writing about, all I know is that I want to read it.
She has an ability to write two completely different characters and mesh their lives together ending up with the perfect couple.
Brock and Krista should probably never have met, let alone become a couple. But even though what they have together is so very far from smooth sailing, I liked how they worked together to be with one another.
There is plenty going on in this story. I couldn't wait to read two certain people meet their fate.
Brilliantly written as always and I can't wait to read Whitley's next book.

Get ready for this new series from Whitley Cox! This book was definitely different than the typical books I’ve read from Whitley, and a lot saucier, but I loved it! Krista is a rookie cop who has just found her passion for the law and being a cop, but is paired with a mentor cop that is bad news and using his power and authority the wrong way. Brock grew up as a cop’s son, and after the death of his father he assumed that role towards his younger brothers. After serving and returning home, he opens a security firm with his brothers and keeps a low profile. When Krista and Brock meet at a bar after a rough day and end up having a one-night stand, they never think anything will come of it, until Krista finds out she’s pregnant. I was on the edge of my seat while reading, more for what was happening in Krista’s work life, and felt that the romance aspect of the book was secondary in this storyline. I also loved getting to know Brock’s brothers and his mother – it seems that they will be the comedy throughout this series. I did love that Whitley took a different approach with Krista’s occupation and showing that women are strong and not the stereotypical damsel in distress. With an explosive ending to this book, I am excited to see where this new series takes us while also seeing Krista and Brock’s relationship grow along with their child!

No matter what book Whitley Cox writes I love everyone of them. Once I read the first page I’m so engrossed in the story I can’t put it down till the end, and this book was no different. The Hart Brothers sexy, hot, mysterious and brooding the oldest Brock is so sexy but doesn’t interact well with people but when he meets the stunning red head cop Krista she settles something in him. A romantic funny intriguing story. A page turner.

This is a well-written book. I finally got the time to read more of Whitley's books other than her Single Dads and Moms series. Krista and Brock got together on a one-night stand. Because of their hot chemistry, they got a lot closer together. I enjoyed the strong connection between these two. Even though it was fairly an easy read, it was still an emotional roller coaster, filled with drama, tension, and suspense.
I can't wait for more of the series!

What I love about Whitley Cox books is that they are soft steamy and exciting all at the same time.
She finds that balance yet again with a dark silent brooding man and his not so secret love for a woman who was suppose to be a one off but came back to shake up the stability that he tried to maintain, even with his work life.
You have this strong loud and fiery red head who is use to being in complete control. That is why she is a RCMP constable. She struggled with finding acceptance with her family as well as with herself which creates a person self doubt that she kind of struggles with near the beginning and middle of the book.
As Brock comes out of his shell, Krista finds comfort in herself and relinquishing some of her day to day control to a man who only wants what is best for he.
The Steamy scenes in this book are steamy and appealing and I like how they are almost nervous when they try new things. Like she might be uncomfortable at first personally and that does reflect in how her characters are depicted in that scene and it works and I love it.
My only complaint was the action was over a bit sooner than I liked and would have liked it drawn out just a little more. But again that is just my personal Opinion.

OMG !! GIVE ME A MAN LIKE BROCK HART !!! HE IS THE PERFECT ALPHA AND HE HAS HIS SIGHT ON PROTECTING KRISTA, A ROOKIE COP WHO IS OUT TO PROVE TO THE WORLD THAT SHE CAN HANDLE THE JOB. BUT AS ALWAYS SOME ONE IS OUT TO MAKE SURE SHE FAILS, AND THAT WOULD BE A LECHEROUS COP WHO IS SUPPOSED TO BE HER MENTOR .... MYLES SLADE IS AFTER SOMETHING ELSE ..... I was given an advanced readers copy of this book and have decided to leave a voluntary honest review. I really enjoyed getting to know The sexy Hart Brothers. They are all four unique and sexy in there own ways. I adore them. And can't wait for each of there story's. Brock was not just demanding and sexy, he was basically a brute but with very good intentions. Mind you may not have acted right all the time or said the right things. But he's a mans man and takes care of what he needs to. Krista I instantly liked her, she was filled fire and some ice lol. But she was no way a prude and I loved that about her even more. She gave up control when she had to. But also held strong when she also needed to. Can't wait for. The resg. Of Hart boys!!

This is the 1st in a new series and what an emotionally charged story Brock and Krista’s journey is. Krista is a rookie cop who is determined to prove herself, and from the moment bodyguard and retired special operative Brock meets her when she pulls him over, the attraction has been intense. After one drunken night together introvert Brock’s quiet life is changed forever, and when Krista is in danger, he is determined to protect her, but she is as determined that she can protect herself. These two equally stubborn characters challenge each other, and the chemistry between them is explosive and undeniable. This is a beautifully written tale which is filled with emotions, twists, drama, suspense, passion, love, and is a steamy and all-consuming page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Whitley Cox has proved that no matter what she writes she delivers the goods. The first book in her new series is different from her single winning dads in settle series, it is edgy gritter still with great one-liners but if possible even hotter add in a really great storyline and we have a must-read book and series by Ms. Cox
If you like your men the strong and silent type and you women strong and sassy then you will love brock and Krista.

Ms. Cox has outdone herself this time. Her books have always been great, don't get me wrong. But this one has a bit of everything. A one night stand that leads to an unexpected surprise, kink in the bedroom, a strong heroine that knows what she wants and won't settle for second choice, a hard man to get to know hidden behind armor so thick it doesn't seem like anyone will penetrate it, intrigue in the office, a shoot out, failed brakes on an icy road, and three more Hart brothers to drool over.
I loved Krista from her first chapter. She thinks she's a screw up but her determination to suceed at being a police officer is admirable. She stays strong on the job because she can't fail. Her mentor, Myles, is making her life a living hell since his flirting and inuedos go beyond what they should in a professional environment. Her ability to escape Myles is amazing. She knows she can't be anywhere alone with him.
Brock is stopped for a routine traffic stop by Krista. He is attracted to her but knows the timing isn't right. Until she walks into the bar and starts to get plastered. His place is within stumbling distance and they do, stumble that is. Brock is a difficult man to get to know. He is a big man and uses that to scare people away. Krista sees through that and sees a big teddy bear instead. And shes right. He is a caring man who feels he has to be the one to solve the family problems. His own problems are his. He is the oldest of four boys and took responsibility for them when his father passed. Brock was only 12. He doesn't know how to be around Krista since she is a woman who doesn't need to depend on another. She only wants support and love. The two of them have a long road to find each other but when they do...fireworks!

I knew I was going to love Hard Hart by Whitley Cox when on the first page she managed to work in a double entendres from a 90 year old landlord jumping a dead car. It just gets better from there.
Krista is a strong and beautiful woman, who like so many of us, that’s at times self depreciating and venerable. I do want to say that Cox writes the best holiday gatherings, HANDS DOWN. All I’m going to say is sweaters - you have to read the book to find out more.
But it’s not just about Brock and Krista working through figuring out how to live with each and their unexpected miracle. Cox takes on some very serious themes. She adds some danger and tension to keep you on the edge of your seat and up past your bed time to find out what happens next.

Constable Krista Matthews isn't looking for love, she is trying to make something of her life. As a rookie cop, she has seen domestic violence and tragic car wrecks not to mention dealing with a sleazy mentor who keeps trying to get in her pants. Pulling over a big handsome grouch for speeding isn't a hardship. Brock Hart is always pissed and closed off. That is how he goes through his days, it never lets up until he is pulled over by a red-headed sprite constable for speeding. When they run into each other at a bar, their mutual attraction flares into a hot one night stand. But will Brock be able to open up to this stubborn woman who got under his skin when she shows up pregnant with his baby?
This is only my second read by Whitley Cox but it will not be my last. This lady can write some compelling stories. I couldn't put Hard Hart down, I read it in one day. Do have an open mind when you pick up one of her books because not much is off limits! Brock and Krista are awesome characters and Brock's family is a hoot! I have read all of Whitley Cox's published books and every one of them is a fantastic read including this one about Brock, the oldest of the four Hart brothers and the first to get his story out. He was only 12 when his ex-Navy policeman father was killed in his patrol car by a drunk driver. Brock immediately took on the role of man-of-the-house as his mother, Joy, finished her Master's degree working nights and got her PhD to become a Family (sex) Therapist. Now all four bachelor brothers have been in Special Ops in the Canadian Navy and work for the same security firm. But this is the rainy day that Brock is pulled over by rookie Constable Krista Williams, who eventually lets him go without a citation for speeding or having a headlight burned out since he shows her the lamp he's just bought. Later that evening when she comes in the bar he is partners in and begins tequila shots, he buys her supper, picks up her tab, and they go to his home which is 'in stumbling distance.' The result is a funny, argumentative relationship being as Krista is a stubborn, independent woman that doesn't need an alpha male bossing her around. But how is Brock going to protect her from dangers in her department if she won't move in with him and do as he says? Lots of suspense as danger to Krista grows and their relationship has its ups and downs, including surpising his mother Christmas Eve. Could not quit reading until I reached the happy ending and volunteered this review of the ARC.

J'ai lu ce roman dans le cadre d'un blog tour car le tome 2 va sortir en mars et j'ai adoré. J'avais repéré deux des frères du héros dans le dernier tome des "Single dads of Seattle", on les croisait et ils m'avaient beaucoup plu. Je suis donc ravie d'avoir sauter sur l'occasion pour découvrir Brock Hart, l'aîné d'une fratrie de 4 frères ! C'est un homme alpha dans toute sa splendeur qui a vécu toute sa vie en ayant des responsabilités (j'y reviendrai) et qui depuis, est un homme renfermé (et c'est un euphémisme) mais sa vie va basculer lorsqu'il va rencontrer une jeune policière en formation, Krista, qui va l'attirer de suite mais c'est lorsqu'ils vont se retrouver dans un bar, par hasard, que tout va changer pour eux deux. En effet, la jeune femme se retrouve enceinte et elle va le prévenir. Ce qu'elle ne s'attendait pas, c'est que Brock soit aussi autoritaire, dominateur et dirigiste : dès qu'il apprend qu'elle est enceinte de lui, il veut l'épouser et qu'elle s'installe chez lui Evidemment, elle refuse! Ils n'ont passé qu'une nuit ensemble et si cette liaison qui n'était pas censée se reproduire a amené cette grossesse, ce n'est pas pour autant que tout doit changer entre eux. Mais Brock n'est pas n'importe qui : c'est un homme qui a pris soin des autres toute sa vie et il ne veut pas être un père occasionnel : il va donc lui prouver qu'elle peut s'appuyer sur lui et comme la jeune femme a des soucis dans son travail (son supérieur veut absolument coucher avec elle et elle ne veut pas), elle va finir par se laisser convaincre... Mais Brock n'est pas un homme facile à vivre : il ne se confie pas et ce pourrait être vite un problème entre eux.
Est-ce que Krista finira par abattre les murs épais qui sont autour du père de son enfant? Pourra-t-elle échapper aux menaces que lui fait subir son supérieur et ainsi préserver sa carrière? Brock, quant à lui, pourra-t-il avoir la famille qu'il désire tant et persuader Krista qu'ils peuvent vivre une vie de famille? Emotionally charged, strong characters and a storyline that has something for all is what Ms. Cox has delivered with this latest release. Krista is a rookie constable who is working hard to prove that she has what it takes. It is not easy as her training officer is a corrupt and immoral individual who is constantly trying to get into her pants. It gives the reader pause to figure out how the heck this person attained his position. After a particularly tumultuous day, Krista winds up at a bar looking to drown her sorrows and runs into Brock. He is a tight lipped, closed off man who keeps everything close to the vest and does not offer anything. Brock is also the man that Krista happened to pull over earlier in the day. Imagine her surprise when she sees Brock at the bar, but that is irrelevant when pheromones are imploding and the drinks are flowing freely. The two wind up together and have a one-night stand. Their affair brings about some major changes for them both. How will they deal with this new unexpected challenge? Will Brock be able to open up to Krista or will it be too little too late? I have read many books by this author and she is an absorbing writer who knows how to weave action, drama, and leaving the reader with thoughts of what the heck is going on next. The accompanying cast of characters just adds more depth to the already rich storyline. I cannot wait to see where this series goes and fortunately there are some of Brock’s brothers that need their own stories….

I've been a fan of Whitley Cox from the very first book I read by her, so she's on my go to author list & I'm always super excited when I get to read another new book. I realize that Hard Hart came out a cool minute in the past but it's new to me. Krista is a rookie cop, and we all know that the blue can be a good old boys club, but she's determined to shatter glass ceilings, however, the man who is supposed to mentor her is truly a scumbag so things get dicey because of his actions. She & Brock hookup one night after seeing each at the bar, as the sparks are flying. He's been intrigued by her since she pulled him over so you know, fate is starting to work in mysterious ways. Little do they know that that night is about to change their lives, so let the new journey begin. There's so much going on in this story that I found myself on the edge of my seat cover to cover so brace yourselves for a wild ride coming up. These two are both in a dangerous career so it's only a matter of time which finds Krista staying with Brock so he can help keep her safe. I LOVED this story HARD but I know I'm biased so I'm going to tell y'all to hit those one click buttons to decide for yourselves! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

I love Whitley Fox's books and this one is another fantastic read and a great start to a series that will follow some sexy brothers. This book is about Brock. He is an ex special forces guys and has the distant, closed up personality too. He has no intention of finding a girl to stick around in his life, but after a one night stand, he gets more than he possibly planned.
Krista is a tough girl who is new to the local police force. She is trying to prove to her peers and family that she can do anything she wants and that she is not a screw up. A one night stand adds a little blimp in her current life goals and the person to blame is her one night stand partner. Krista not only has a new little situation growing inside her, but she also has a difficult situation developing at work.
Will these two decide to work together? Will they be friends or lovers or more? Will Brock open up and work with Krista? Brock is pure aloha, but Krista also likes to be in control. Enjoy getting acquainted with this couple and then get ready for another sexy brother in the next book. HE A and lots of sexy scenes!

By tacit agreement, neither of them delve too deep into emotional waters as they share a drunken, extremely hot night together. Chance puts them together again some months later and now even the mono-syllabic Brock cannot ignore the danger lurking around the gorgeous cop. They grow closer to each other as they navigate a new relationship and try to catch a bad guy everyone is afraid to stand up to.

An amazing start of a new series. Brock taking care if his 4 brothers since he was twelve when his father died has created an amazing surly angry nurturing teddy bear character. Krista trying to prove herself in a mans world of a rookie police officer and trying to fight off a slimy handsy partner. When Krista pulls Brook over threatening a ticket fireworks fly in alot of ways. When later he sees her in his bar he is co owner with, shooting tequila shots back sparks the chemisty and soothes earlier anger. They end up doing dinner and stumbling back for a passionate kinky amazing night. Can the two opposites connect on a different level with her just wanting to be loved and can take care of herself. Brook not being able to give her relationship but want to take care off. Throw in drama, suspense and danger rumbling thru the police station and great insights to the brothers and you get one entertaining enjoyable must read standalone and desire to follow series and the rest of the brothers stories.

Brock is ex-Special Forces who n ow works for a security company with his brothers and is a part owner of a bar. The last thing he needs is to get pulled over for a traffic violation by Krista no matter how sexy she is.
After a challenging day at work she decides to stop in and have a drink when she comes across Brock. A few too many drinks later she ends up at his place and neither of their lives will ever be the same.
I really enjoyed the characters as Krista’s strength and determination shines through while Brock may appear to be a grumpy bear there is so much more to him than that. This was a great start to the series and I look forward to rest of the Hart brother’s stories. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
