This is a fun read if you’re into books and book collecting. There is some good advice on collecting in general. Basically, like Marie Kondo says, only keep the ones that really speak to you. A lot of it covers the practical matters of buying books and managing a collection, most of which have long become outdated due to the internet. But it’s still interesting as a view into how the book world worked back then. There’s also a danger in reading this. It gives you a rationale to buy a lot more books!

A fair amount of the information imparted by this vintage book has been superceeded with email, Paypal and the internet but the rest of it is pithy, good advise for someone who collects or is begining to collect books. There are excellent tips on book storage and care as well as how to keep a catalogue, how to decide what to collect and how to avoid 'auction fever'.
