Much against Celia’s own wishes, she’d agreed to appear at her soon-to-be ex-husband’s side in the promotion of his memoir – about the football hero that he’d once been – but Celia hadn’t realized how hard it would be. The book was filled with lies – she knew that – but he still had his adoring fans. Her marriage of twenty-five years was over; the deal she’d agreed to would finally put an end to the sham.

Special thanks to Maggie Christensen for an ARC of her newest novel, A MODEL WIFE, which enabled me to read it and write this unbiased review.
This well written modern novel is about families, same-sex-marriage, domestic abuse, sexual harassment allegations, love,
and second chances. There are diverse characters and relatable storylines.

This is a beautiful story and was such a fabulous read, there are a lot of emotions and MS Christensen has taken on a lot of topics that have been in the news lately and highlighted them so well. I first met Celia the heroine in this story in Isobel’s Promise (which is an awesome story) and I was really hoping she got her own story, she really deserved a HEA and she got one.

This book ticks all the boxes! strong female characters throughout, domestic violence, same sex relationships, falls from grace, sexual misconduct covering many modern day issues that we can relate to in 2018!
Maggie continues the story of Celia who we have met before in a minor capacity in her previous novels - now she gets her own story. Once she was the “trophy wife” of a popular rugby player until she couldn’t take the abusive relationship they had, and fled the marriage with nothing. Now mov ...more

I was really looking forward to reading this one – with both the previous books I’ve read by the author I’ve been so very impressed by her storytelling and her ability to create characters who were so real and with whom I could identify. If you’ve read Isobel’s Promise too – although you really don’t have to, this book is 100% a stand-alone – you’ll already know Celia: she was a secondary character in that book, with an engaging back story, and I really liked the way this book brings her into th

A Model Wife by Maggie Christensen is a contemporary romance story about Celia, a character from a previous book, Isobel's Choice. Although there are connecting characters, the book is easily a stand-alone read. The author seems to have taken her story right from the front page headlines as she deftly deals with the real-life issues of sexual harassment accusations and same-sex marriage. Former model, Celia, works hard at her life as business owner, mother, and grandmother and yet the specter o

Wow!!! Another wonderful story from this Queensland author.
I love the way she takes a character from the previous story, and then tells her story!
I felt like I had met up with an old friend again.
The main character Celia, has left her abusive, bullying husband, but he still manages to make her life unbearable at times.
Luckily she meets a wonderful man called Johnno and she is very attracted to him .... BUT ... can her husband destroy this new part of her life? Will she ever be able to sever the ...more

The thing I love best about Maggie's books is the hope and joy that they bring. It never matters if you are 20 or 50 100 lbs or 200 lbs her characters and stories always make it seem possible to find love at any point in our lives. After being in an abusive marriage Celia finally breaks free. She strengthens her relationship with her girls and starts to create a life of her own. Still tied to her soon to be ex, she struggles to keep her end of the bargain through sexual harassment claims and his

I read an e copy of A Model Wife , thanks Maggie for the ARC to read and review.
A very well written story , which flowed well and had me hooked from the start. The author has penned a modern fiction title covering the topics of sexual harassment / abuse and same sex relationships.
After 25 years of marriage Celia had left her husband , but had agreed to attend a book launch of Bill's memoir from his years in the football circle .
But the media sense there are hidden issues with the couple and it i ...more

👍👍 Great combination of drama, romance and passion with a mature couple as the main focus. This is the first novel I've read by this author but it definitely will not be the last! Great writing that kept the story moving at a good pace and plenty of insight into both Celia and Johnno, the empty nester heroine and bachelor hero, through the use of alternating perspe ...more

Real Life
Although I own several of Maggie Christensen’s books this is the first one I have read. I will now need to remedy that since I enjoyed this book so much. The storyline and the characters drew me in and kept me invested in their lives until the very end. My new favorite book couples are older middle aged ones like Celia and Johnno.
So many topics were covered including domestic abuse. I was rooting for Celia and her girls to be rid of her abusive soon to be ex. Let’s just say what happen ...more

This book is about second chances, a new life after a mid-life divorce. Celia’s husband Bill, is a bully and womanizer and she decides to divorce him. Part of the divorce agreement is that she helps him to promote his book. She meets and falls in love with Johnno, a property developer. Bill’s cruelty extends to his daughters and when he is accused of sexual harassment, it throws the whole family into turmoil and the spotlight. Celia is a strong mature woman with trust issues, after all she knew

A Model Wife felt like I was reading the never-ending story. It just did not grab my attention, nor did I ever feel any connection at all with the characters. This book has a good storyline; characters were okay...but definitely could have used a bit more development. For me, it was a tedious read. You might totally love it so please add it to your TBR list. I’d definitely read something else by this author. (I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and it just wasn’t for me.)

After a career in education, Maggie Christensen began writing contemporary women’s fiction portraying mature women facing life-changing situations. Her travels inspire her writing, be it her frequent visits to family in Oregon, USA or her home on Queensland’s beautiful Sunshine Coast. Maggie writes of mature heroines coming to terms with changes in their lives and the heroes worthy of them.
