Amara came home for family, leaving behind a fulfilling and meaningful career. When she saw her brother’s best friend again, the old feelings she had as a teen resurfaced with a vengeance and she was determined to make sure he noticed her, one way or another.

Travis has always noticed Amara, but the last thing he wants to do is destroy his friendship with her brother, because one NEVER messes with their best friend’s sister, never. Travis has faced his own trials in life and is now on track to fulfill his dreams. As the owner of a successful fitness club, and an MMA boxer, he is ready to achieve his dream, to win the title, but the more he sees of Amara, the less he can concentrate on his upcoming bout as his head and heart become entangled in turmoil.

In a tale sizzling tale of attraction, conflicts of interest, dreams and goals, can two people find the happiness they both deserve without major consequences or emotional blackmail?

Ember Leigh’s BREAKING THE RULES is a spicy ride down the rabbit hole of love, lust and attraction with characters that are definitely colorful, opinionated and strong. As in any “forbidden love” tale, there is the good, the bad and the ugly. Amara is a woman making her move, confidant to a point and determined. I’m pretty sure Travis stood no chance when Amara set her sights on him! I did, however find her to be sometimes a little too "something," text pics are fine, teasing, great, but hiding her “grown up” attraction to Travis from her big brother? Seriously? Nope, not a fan of that, not a fan of her brother’s double standards, either. Eddie, Eddie, Eddie…shame on you.

I did understand and appreciate Amara’s conflict over her career and Travis’, even though it came late in the game, after she had him hook, line and sinker. Has she gone too far?

A fast and entertaining read with all of the spice and daring of modern love, okay, most of the daring! One thing for sure, Ember Leigh knows how to create sizzling tension and conflict of the heart!

ARC received for review

Amara comes home to help with her sick mom (but there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of that going on) and re-enters Hawk's world. Hawk who is her brother's BFF didn't realized that little Amara has grown up and gotten so hot. Lots of chemistry and him trying to do the right thing before they both give in to the heat. Then of course brother finds out and is hurt, but all's well in the end. Let's talk about the ending....they get together, admit to being in love, and BAM the book is done. Nothing extra..blah. What's wrong with writing an epilogue?

Mon avis en Français

My English review

I’ve read two of the author’s novels, but in light romance genre, and when I saw this series, I was curious to see what it was like.

Travis is a famous MMA fighter and he just realized his dream by opening his gym. All was well in the best of worlds until Amara, his best friend’s sister, came to town. But Eddie is overprotective of his sister, and he’s made it clear to everyone that she’s off-limits. After resisting for a while as best they could, Travis and Amara can no longer stay away from each other. But what if Eddie finds out? And especially what to do when Travis feels he’s falling for her while she does everything she can to avoid the same feelings.

It was a nice novel, and I had a great time with the characters. The setting of MMA is interesting and different so I really enjoyed it. Yes, it was a nice novel and I’ll be curious to read the rest now to find out the story of the other protagonists.

Well... this one was kind of hard to figure out. I actually loved the character’s insta-love but then the whole book was all about that and only that.

Travis is an MMA fighter and he’s coming back into the fighting scene and is training for it. He’s best friends with Eddie, Amara’s brother.
Amara worked in DC in a domestic violence department but went back to LA to be with her mom that was sick.

So, as I said, their insta-attraction was good at first but then it started getting annoying and boring. That was all they “talked” about. How they wanted each other but couldn’t get past Eddie’s protectiveness. The whole book was about that, with only some background situations. I started dreading the story and skipped a lot of pages because I couldn’t find the will to read it.
But the final chapter was awesome, the final fight and their get together.
Anyway, I maybe will check the rest of the series someday.

Ember Leigh is an author that I have fallen in head first with. I am so addicted to her excellently written stories. I really connect with her writing voice. I know that when I pick up one of her books that the quality will be amazing.

This is another book by Leigh that I fell into immediately. The way that she draws the reader in with her character-driven stories is so masterful. She knows how to hook the reader and make them want more and more.

Leigh is so great at writing characters. I love the way that I always feel so connected to the characters that she writes. Travis and Amara were a delight. The reader dives into their lives and their minds and really gets to know them. I also really loved the secondary characters in this story. Leigh always has a way of bringing the side characters to life in the story as well as the lead characters.

The chemistry between Travis and Amara was instant. From the moment that they reconnected they were attracted to each other. I loved how the author showed that it wasn't just face value. They get to know one another and see the best parts of each other.

Overall, this was another book by this author that took over my world. I loved the characters, the plot, and all the feels that this story evoked. Leigh has become a fast favorite of mine and I am excited for more books from her.

Travis seemed to fit the bill perfectly. God-status hot and already within reach. All she had to do was strike up a conversation and send a half-nude selfie, and it would be One-Night Stand Central.

Ahhhh, I loveeee it~

Breaking the Rules is hot, but I felt like it was lacking something.

These were dangerous flames they were playing with. And already he was getting scorched. He’d never kissed a woman like that before. Those kisses would haunt him for the rest of his life.

Amara's move home is anything but fun. With her mom recovering, her only goal is to find a job in her field and support her family. But once she lays eyes on Travis Holt, she realizes her time in LA might be a lot more tolerable if she could use him to take her mind off things.

She wrapped her arms around his waist, burying her face in his hoodie. “You are a superstar.”

When I started reading I couldn't put it down. It was a sweet, sexy, suspenseful romance. The forbidden romance was intense, I loved it. I recommend it!

Rcvd an ARC at no cost to author. (Netgalley) I am going to be a see-saw with this review and let me tell you why.. I loved Travis and I actually wished he had another love interest than Amara, why do you ask? Well let me tell you. I liked that she felt strongly about her cause (battered women shelter) loved the cause and would totally help, my issue was that she had no balance and she was judgy (yup made up a word) I mean we all have opinions but we need to respect the feelings and opinions of others.. Now don't get me wrong I did enjoy and would even tell you to read buuuuuut she bugged the hell out of me and for that I did not rate higher....Enjoy!

Sweet Baby Jesus I love a story about best friends brother's or sister's. A no go because they are off limits and unattainable. This had all the angst and push and pull I needed.

Amara moves back home to take care of her mother who is recovering from Cancer. When she moves back she sets her goals to get a job in her field and take care of her mother. All is going great until she sees her brother Eddie's best friend Travis. Holy hell do sparks fly from both of them but they know that they are off limits to one another. Except this time Amara is grown up and no longer that teenage girl with a crush so she let's Travis know she wants him and no matter what others say they deserve to give it a go.

Travis has come up in life. He owns his own fitness center and is a MMA Boxer getting ready to have the biggest match of his career. A chance at the title belt and he will let nothing come in between his goal and dream of getting the title belt. Then in walks Amara his best friend's sister and he is done for. He wants her and always has and will take her this time. No matter what Eddie has to say because they are adults now not teenagers.

When Eddie finds out all hell breaks lose and things start to get hectic. This is where the story really picked up and had me reading like a crazy loon because I needed to know what happened between Amara and Travis and Lord was I not disappointed and never will you be. This is a must read story for all. It had me biting my nails on pins and needles waiting to see what happens next.

3.5-4 Stars Spoilers Ahead

OK, so first off I loved the author's writing and loved this story line. Travis for me was a 5 Star plus here but Amara....hmmmm she was my issue. Now she wasn't all bad BUT I wasn't loving the way the author portrayed her character ESP towards the end....Amara up on her "high horse" hmmmmm her judgement and opinion of Travis was selfish. I get Amara had her goals and beliefs but the fact that she "pushed" it all on him was so not fair. All in all I truly did love them as a couple but between Amara's attitude at times and the ending.....was why I deducted stars. The ending for me was a good HFN and I had wanted more personally. I get the series will continue so I am hoping to see the future of this adorable couple!

MMA-secret love- chemistry.
Best friend’s sisters are against the rules. Even if they are off the charts HOT! it does’nt matter if you can talk to her and tell her all your hidden secrets. Travis did not want to cross that line with Amara. Eddie would lose his mind. He is over the top protective of Amara. Amara has been away for many years. She is used to be independent and on her own. When she see Travis, she is instantly attracted. They try to hide their romance but of course it comes out. but they do get their happy ending

When Amara gives up a meaningful career in DC, she returns to LA to be with her family, to help her brother Milo as they support their mother who had been diagnosed with breast cancer.

When she sees her brother’s best friend Travis, the old feeling she had as a teen resurfaced with a vengeance, and she was determined to make sure he noticed her, one way or another.

Travis has always noticed Amara, but the last thing he wants to do is destroy his friendship with her brother, because one never messes with their best friends’ sister, never. Travis has faced his own trials in life and is now on the track to fulfill his dreams.

As an owner of a successful fitness club, and an MMA boxer, he is ready to achieve his dream, to win the title, but the more he sees Amara, the less he can concentrate on his upcoming bout as his head and heart become entangled in turmoil.

Such a beautiful romance, very warming and thought provoking. Beautifully written and intricately woven storyline. What Amara wanted, she knew she could not have, in her heart and mind, she knew, was forbidden, but it did not stop her, but the heart wanted, what the heart wanted, and what she wanted was Travis, he knew it too, and in the end, they couldn’t deny the inevitable.

Denying their attraction to one another was hard, but when they came together it was electrifying. The way they loved each other, there relationship forbidden, there love provocative, the romance heart-warming and beautiful, there love so passionate, they desire each other above all else, defying those who would get in there way.

The truths, the lies, that lead to the past colliding with the present, the emotional turmoil that Amara and Travis experienced was raw as it was powerful, it was fast paced, exhilarating, the twists and turns, how they tested each other’s resolves before finally giving into their desires.

Their story was raw and sensual, as it was powerful and confronting. It was fast paced and thrilling, it made my heart race and soar to unfathomable heights. The author knows how to write, to ensnare her readers to ensure they will come back for more, me I am coming back for more.

And those s€x scenes in and out of the bedroom were down right sensually erotic, the filthy dirty talk and language an absolute turn on, daring, explosive, physical, provocative, possessive, controlling, oh so steamy, deliciously wicked, dirty, hot, beautiful, naughty, powerful, passionate, wet, dominating, and wild, and that happily ever after is everything a reader could want and more.

I received a copy of this book directly from the author/publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Listen, Breaking The Rules by Ember Leigh wasn't as bad as you might assume by seeing this one-star rating, but I just could not get into it.

The narrative actually flowed fairly well. The grammar and punctuation were correct, and I didn't run into any major typos. All good things.

However, despite these strong points, I still had trouble. I didn't feel anything for the characters. They weren't particularly interesting and I didn't really like them to be honest. Their attraction felt superficial because any sexual tension the author threaded through the story was overshadowed by the constant mention of it. It seemed like every few seconds the couple was thinking about boning each other, and it drained the impact. Sadly, there didn't seem to be any plot outside of the romance and it just wasn't enough to carry the book for me.

I grew bored. For some readers, this won't be an issue… but it was for me, and I chose not to carry on.

This was the first book from NetGalley.com I was granted. I wish I could rave about it but it was actually a struggle to get through. The third person POV left me disconnected from the characters. Though the body of the story was well written, the dialogue was a miss. Everyone was mid to late 20's but sounded as if they were teenagers. I also felt the males to be too sensitive. And unfortunately there wasn't much of a climax in the story line.

Amara moves back home to help her mom recover from a cancer diagnosis and is looking for a job to help support her family. Travis is her brother best friend and her old crush, but when they see each other again sparks fly. Will Travis go against his friend’s rules and start a relationship with Amara? Will other barriers get in the way of their new relationship? I admit Amara was a bit annoying, however overall, I enjoyed this entertaining read.

Amara moved to LA to take care of her mother. Travis feels like he has no business looking at his best friends little sister. I really liked Travis but I was not a fan of Amara. She seemed judgmental of Travis and it seemed like she was using him for what she could get out of him and for sex.

Breaking The Rules is a phenominal story that intergrates love and pain to describe relationships today. Many stories don't have the struggles that too many people face day to day.

Amara Valenzuela is on her way back into her hometown leaving behind a life she so desperatly she wanted to return to just as soon as her mother's cancer is cured. Her brother, Eddie, is already caring for his mother while working a fulltime job. She knows that he needs help and that their absent father (abandoned them long ago) certainly wouldn't be there. Eddie has recently started back at Holt Body Fitness Gym to shape his bulging belly into tight abs, where his best friend Travis Holt is owner/operator. He invites Amara to join him for a session. She was not prepared for Travis.

Travis Holt is a 5 time UFC middleweight champ and has been on the injured list for 3 years due to a torn ACL injury. He kept his mind sharp and his body active during recovery and opened a no judgement gym for everyone to enjoy. He does not tolerate any "dosers" someone using steroids causing problems. It causes over reactions and a thirst for trouble. Trouble makers are removed and banned for causing trouble. Travis bans one such person who was beig disrespectful to Amara even with a warning. His best friend Eddie has brought in his Very adult and Very hot sister for a workout. She is bewitching him and other men in the gym, Eddie warns everyone she is off limits. A doser takes it too far and Eddie defends his sisters honor, Travis jumps in and handles the doser right out of the gym. He knewe then that Amara was going to be his undoing.

When Travis is tring to keep his mind clear for a fight against Victor Leon aka Lion Victor for his middleweight belt, he finds himself being pulled in by Amara's beauty. How can he hurt his best friend and keep a secret this massive from him? Should he just forget about the goddess that is distracting him?

Now, in my opinion, the best part of the story is the reality about domestic abuse. Amara has dedicated her life to helping the Justice Center legal aid to immigrant women facing domestic abuse issues. How can she support the man of her dreams who is against everything she is fighting against? She talks him into offering free self defense classes to women as opposed to charging for the class and no one signing up. She knows that there is more than he can do with his fame than just bust and man's face open. Could we choose between money in our pocket or giving it all to a needy cause? The dilema is in every page between right and wrong.
This book gives the reader a spicy romance that is hot enough to melt an ice berg! It is full of steamy sex and realalistic positions. It leaves you wanting far more of their story! It is easy to read and follow along with the characters and their inner thoughts. Definatly a book to read over and over!

I was given this book to review from the author/publisher through Reading Alley and in exchange I give my unbiased opinion.

‘Hot Body Fitness was the sacred place for all people to improve their self-esteem’

Ohio author Ember Leigh has published twelve novels to date, books in romance series – THE BREAKING SERIES, BAYSHORE SERIES, EROTIC DESTINATIONS SERIES as well as standalone novels. She lives near Lake Erie.

While her status as a steamy romance writer is established, in this book Ember adds a fine sense of family conflicts, touch-me-not attractions, and some insights into the interiors of fitness gyms. It works well and opens her story with gusto – ‘ “You done kicking my a** for the day?” Eddie’s playful question was one that Travis Holt had received thousands of times over the past few years. His sweaty breathless friend squinted up at him from the bench press, waiting to be dismissed from their near-daily workout. “That’s up to you,” Travis ribbed, shoving his friend’s shoulders. “You know I’m training now. So we can take it up to the pro notch if you want.” Training, for the first time in three years. The past few weeks had felt like both a welcome return to home and a terrible punishment. Training for headlining fights – this was what he’s always done. It was what he was used to. But now that he owned a gym and had officially crossed over into entrepreneur territory? Most days he doubted he still had the mojo.’

Ember provides a tight synopsis of her plot – ‘Travis Holt never expected the one person who could throw him off his game to roll back into town. As the successful owner of Holt Body Fitness, he was sure he would win his upcoming MMA fight…until his best friend’s little sister showed up. For Travis, there's only ever been one rule: stay away from his best friend's sister. But Amara Valenzuela has transformed from meek and sweet to a woman that Travis can’t keep his eyes—or hands—off of. Before long, however, Travis learns that being with Amara isn’t just breaking the rules. She’s a dangerous distraction. In a room full of hot, hard, sweaty bodies, these two have more than fitness on their minds. Will the undefeated MMA fighter be strong enough to resist the charms of his best friend's sexy and sweet little sister…or will trying to win her heart be the showdown of his life?’

Solid writing from an author deserving of attention, this series begs exploring further…

Mein Fazit:
Von mir gibt es gern eine Leseempfehlung!

"𝒀𝒆𝒂𝒉, 𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒓 𝒄𝒂𝒏'𝒕 𝒃𝒆 𝒂𝒏 𝒆𝒙𝒄𝒖𝒔𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒃𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔."

It took me a while to get into the story. Even then, I kept putting it down.

The writing was strong. I liked Travis. He knew what he stood for. He knew what he wanted. He was also willing to better not only himself but his business also.

𝑺𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒉𝒊𝒎 𝒎𝒂𝒅𝒆 𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒍 𝒂 𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒕𝒍𝒆 𝒕𝒐𝒐 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒂𝒃𝒍𝒆. 𝑳𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒔𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒔𝒏𝒖𝒈𝒈𝒍𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒚 𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓.

I am on the fence with Amara. She is a strong character. She also knows what she wants and goes for it. Even when she knows she shouldn't. Towards the end, though..... She knew what Travis did for a living, yet she was okay with judging him and comparing him to her father and random guys she had never met. Also had an issue with her getting upset when she's told no. That causes her to think their relationship isn't right for her. She is a wee bit self-centered and judgemental. Not a god look for an MFC.

"𝑰𝒕 𝒎𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒃𝒆 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒂𝒃𝒖𝒔𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒚𝒐𝒖, 𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕'𝒔 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒂𝒔𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒆𝒍𝒔𝒆. 𝒀𝒐𝒖'𝒓𝒆 𝒘𝒆𝒍𝒍-𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒅. 𝑵𝒐𝒕 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒊𝒔."

"𝑰 𝒄𝒂𝒏'𝒕 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒐𝒍 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒍𝒅. 𝑰 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒐𝒏𝒍𝒚 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒐𝒍 𝒎𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝑰 𝒑𝒖𝒕 𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆."

"𝑾𝒆𝒍𝒍, 𝒊𝒕'𝒔 𝒕𝒐𝒐 𝒗𝒊𝒐𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒕."
"𝑨𝒏𝒅 𝑰 𝒄𝒂𝒏'𝒕 𝒃𝒆 𝒂𝒔𝒔𝒐𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒊𝒕."

Loved Amara's mom and brother.

I'm pretty sure Travis was an only child. The story did dive too much on him. You get to meet his mom once in the story. 🤷‍♀️

The storyline pretty much runs around them lusting after each other and hooking up. In the end, he finally has his match.

The ending felt rushed. I wish they would have talked and got everything solved. But alas, it was bunched into the ending of his fight. It was rushed.

I would say it's really more of a 3.5. I enjoyed this book a lot more than I thought I would. I read a lot of reviews on it, which kinda pushed me off of it. I went ahead and read it, cause the next book intrigued me. And, I have to read every book in a series. Anyway...This is a bit of a slow burn. It does take a long time for the couple to finally get it together. Which, usually, is a quick way to make me hate a book. Not so in this one. There was enough other emotions to keep me entertained. Imaginations of the upcoming possibilities, the excitement that this could be the time, and the angst and disappointment when it didn't happen. I feel the characters were well developed. They could be more, but I did honestly care about them. Especially Travis. He was just so open and ready to accept his feelings. I liked the internal debate with Amara. I liked the give and take. I liked how you got to see her internal dialogue to figure out her head and resistance to relationships. And, her working it out and overcoming it. The only really down side for me, was there was a lot of immaturity in the actions of the characters. They are suppose to be in their mid to late 20's. There was a lot of high fives, don't get me wrong, I love a good high five. But, every time you enter and leave a room? Just seemed a little to much to me. Plus the wrestling and horseplay. Maybe that's just the way these guys are. It just took me out of the story a little. Also, Travis would seem so invested and willing to pursue a relationship, then he would make junior high-ish moves. But, overall, I really enjoyed my first book by Ember Leigh.

Amara Valenzuela just moved back to LA from DC. She moved back to help take care of her mom and her cancer treatments. Amara is 26, she is working for non-profit companies, battered women's shelters, etc.

Amara's brother, Eddie has been training at an MMA gym, owned by a friend of his, Travis, who is the gym owner, and also an MMA fighter himself. Eddie has always told Amara that his friends are off limits. Eddie tells Travis the same then after Amara moved back to LA.

Travis & Amara have known each other most of their lives. But, when Amara is back around Travis all she can do is flirt and drool. They are both taken with each other. Both, need / want each other.

Finally they give in and have a KISS, and it's smoldering. Yeah!

But, they agree that they shouldn't do that again, as they don't want to hurt Eddie's feelings. I think they should have been upfront and told Eddie from the start. That way they wouldn't have wasted time and gone around the bushes so much.

I didn't like how Amara cuts ties with Travis. She suddenly realizes that's he's a MMA fighter after an interview? And what he does is harming another person? That didn't make a lot of sense to me. But, after he fights, she's all for him to win.

There was a lot of back and forth with Amara and Travis. I think they could have had a relationship, if they were just open with each other and with Eddie. They were too worried about hurting his feelings.

I did receive a free ARC copy of this book. I am freely leaving an honest review.

Breaking The Rules is the first book I have had the pleasure of reading from author Ember Leigh, but it certainly will not be my last. This novel is an MMA romance, and is one fantastic read.

Amara is a sassy, but somewhat shy woman who works with abused women. She dislikes violence in any form, but can’t help but feel the pull of attraction toward Travis. Travis is an MMA fighter, and gym owner. He is confident, fit, and strong, and he is also very sweet. He keeps trying to fight his attraction towards his best friends sister. With obstacles in their way, could this couple make things work? Or are they doomed from the start?

I really enjoyed this story, I thought it was very well written and had a nice flow in the storyline. I could also see that Ember had researched the MMA industry in depth, which I liked to see. Ember also included celebrities that train MMA themselves. I could feel the chemistry between Travis and Amara from the first moment they met each other in the story, you could cut that sexual tension with a knife! From electrifying kisses to steamy love scenes, you could feel the characters chemistry through the whole book. This story was also a little emotional, and gave me the feels in parts. This book was such an enjoyable read and I would recommend it to all you romance lovers out there.

A combination of wows and awes is what I'm thinking as I read this book. What a great book!

This is a great story about family, friends, and love. Amara learns in more ways than one that all you ever need is back home.

Amara moves back home to LA because her momma is sick and needs help while she's in treatment. She gets to be with her brother, Eddie, again and gets to make new friends and start a new job. One thing she doesn't expect is Travis...

Travis is a former UFC fighter that was injured a few years back with a torn ACL. That didn't stop him from staying fit and keeping going, he opened his own gym and has quite the clientele. Eddie is Travis's best bud, his brother. They train with each other as Travis was offered another fight and Eddie got out of a relationship and was lost a while but they help each other in more ways than one. Eddie's sister Amara needed to start working out and went with Eddie once to Travis's gym and who knew something would start stirring inside Travis then...

Rules are broken in order for Travis and Amara to be together, but differences are still lingering, will they last or will they break???

I saw an ad for this book on Facebook...intrigued by the snippet I decided to read it...best decision I made the other day. This book wasn’t about insta love or drama or even angst. If I’m being honest this book had no angst and very little drama in it, these two once they decided to move forward with their relationship they did but it was riddled with the unknown which cause fear in both sides.

Travis was the first to breakthrough and see he loved Amara. Amara took a little longer because she was I feel stuck within a box where fighting in any form was bad. Once she finally let go of her one sided thoughts on fighting she finally saw the immense great that could be done against violence even while still “fighting”.

Eddie irritated me a little with how he treated Amara like she was a child. Making her and Travis feel bad for having feelings for one another, but he finally came around. I would love to see him get a story even if it’s a short novella.

I’m looking forward to reading the rest of this series and seeing what other character there are to come.
