The Summer Retreat by Sheila Roberts

Contemporary small town, clean romance. Multiple points of view.
Lots of characters give the story charm.
Third book in the Moonlight Harbor series. Can be read as a standalone. I hadn’t read the previous books and had no trouble follow the characters.

Man hungry. The heroine had no other life goals than finding and marrying the right man. The explanation behind it was that she never knew her father. Nothing made her happy and she whined about being alone at va

The Summer Retreat is the perfect book to cozy up with on the beach!

This was my first read by Sheila Roberts and can definitely see why she has so many fans!

The Summer Retreat focuses on Celeste who has a pattern of falling for too many wrong men. Emerson her current boyfriend is a cop and he just doesn't wan't to commit to her fully. Sadly, Celeste finds Emerson cheating on her with another woman and she's had it!

Celeste finds herself back in the Driftwood Inn with her sister Jenna. Celeste

Sheila Roberts has written a delightful story. The Summer Retreat will likely be a popular choice for summer reading. This is the perfect type of escape story for the beach. Basically, Celeste is escaping her cheating ex by going to visit her sister at Moonlight Harbor. Celeste will help her sister run The Driftwood Inn for the summer. The town has a benevolent atmospheric presence that will be familiar to anyone who has lived in a small town. The characters of the town, etc. are kindly, graciou ...more

Are you looking for a fantastic romance novel to take to the beach this Summer? Well, look no further because this is it! What a lovely and exciting book this was and a perfect and refreshing change from my usual, favourite genre.

“The Summer Retreat” is the third book in the ‘Moonlight Harbor’ series by best-seller author Sheila Roberts, the first book being ‘Welcome to Moonlight Harbor’, followed by ’Winter at the Beach’.

Although I’ve seen many of the author’s books around in my local library,

After finding her boyfriend cheating on her Celeste decides she needs some time away, to reflect on her past decisions
What better place then the Driftwood Inn a place where life is simple and there is always a good time.
This is the third book in the series, but the first I read and I wasn’t lost at all.
Loved this town and the people and I look forward to revisiting time and time again.

As a younger reader, I had a really hard time with women’s fiction. I felt too young to relate to any of the characters and like I could never fully understand or realize their struggles. But I also felt like I was too old for the YA genre—at least at that time.

Now that I am almost forty, I feel like I can finally appreciate women’s fiction in its entirety so lately I’ve been really open to this genre and enjoying it so much!

Sheila Roberts is a fairly well known author to me. I haven’t read any

The Summer Retreat by Sheila Roberts, book three in A Moonlight Harbor series, is Celeste Jones’, story. Celeste’s summer plans were destroyed when she discovers her boyfriend cheating on her. Instead she heads to the Moonlight Harbor, and the beach, to help her sister, Jenna, with the Driftwood Inn. Almost from day one, Jenna is pushing Celeste to start dating again. First up is Pastor Paul who falls head over heels for Celeste. It’s possible that he is just too perfect. So what if there is no ...more

Sheila Roberts has done it again!

This is a great book to take with you to the beach or to let you think you are there.

It's great to be back at the Driftwood Inn with Jenna, Sabrina and Aunt Edie. There are still all the wonderful people of the town. Some are helpful and some not so much. Jenna's sister Celeste has come to town to get over a cheating boyfriend and look for a new relationship she hopes. Her sister wants to help her find the man. Can they find the right man? Celeste finds many obst

What a fun read full of emotion, humor and banter that I could not put down. Celeste has arrived for the summer in Moonlight Harbor to help her sister, Jenna out at the resort and mend a broken heart. Jenna wants her sister to start dating again right away. Pastor Paul is the most logical choice but he doesn't make Celeste's heart pitter patter. Then there is Henry, staying at the resort working on his first novel, but he is only there for short time and his life is kind of a mystery. So who wil ...more

Celeste has been burned by love one too many times. She retreats to Moonlight Harbor for the summer to get away after a break up and help her sister at her hotel. Celeste has decided to play it safe with the town pastor. The Perfect Man. But is he perfect for her. Thoughts of the guest in room 12 keep turning up.

This was a good romance read. I liked the characters, including a parrot named Jolly Roger. I read this book in one sitting. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

I read and enjoyed the first book in Moonlight Harbor series, somehow missed the second, and still didn’t feel lost reading the third and newest book The Summer Retreat. So if you haven’t read this series you should know each book can stand alone.

Celeste Jones is fresh out of what she thought would be a permanent relationship with the perfect man. She’s lost confidence in her ability to pick the right one

I found this book was special due to the sisters bonding together & helping each other at the beach. I really like Celeste & Jenna due to how close they are & how Jenna is trying to help her sister find the right man to fall in true love with. I love that it's at a beach because I love summer & camping & that's how I met my true love.

This was a very funny, loving, entertaining book! You could not help rooting for Celeste all the way to the end. It made me wish there was a Moonlight Harbor to move to and be a part of that community. I will definitely go back to read the previous two books in this series.

I loved loved this book. Back to Moonlight Harbor Sheila takes us. I was happy that we got to know more about Jenna's sister Celeste. I was routing for her to have a happy relationship after she dumped Emerson. In fact I kind of remember him from the last book a bit and he would not do things with her then. There was two guys interested in Celeste, Paul and Henry. I was routing for one more so than the other and in the end I got what I hoped for. I love Sheila's writing style as I always feel go ...more

Celeste is getting over a breakup by spending her summer with her sister at Moonlight Harbor.

This is a small town story, filled with loads of unique characters. I wasn't totally on board with Celeste's "love loser" thing. She's an older heroine, which I really like. You don't see the ladies in their 30s much in an honest to God romance, but her almost "boy crazy" need to have a man and be married, irked me a little, ok, it irked me a lot. Her behavior at times didn't really match at 36 year old

I enjoyed reading Summer Retreat, the third book in the Moonlight Harbor series, by Sheila Roberts. Several of the current residents and past visitors to the Driftwood Inn make appearances throughout the story. Will Jenna make up her mind between Brody and Seth? Will Aunt Edie ever get rid of the freeloading Sam? And if you're confused about who all the characters are, there's a synopsis about all of them in the back of the book.

This is mainly Celeste's tory. She is dating Emerson, a cop. She ho

Many thanks to #NetGalley and Harlequin/Mira for allowing me to read an advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The Summer Retreat by Sheila Roberts is the third book in a series set at Moonlight Harbor. I have not read any of the other books in the series but didn’t find that much of a drawback. The book truly fits the definition of a beach read given the locale is near a beach and various things happen on the beach. I found it a quick easy read and a nice change from
DNF at 28%.

After her serious boyfriend dumps her for the woman he's been having an affair with for the last several months Celeste Jones decides to lick her wounds in Moonlight Harbor at her sister Jenna's B&B, the Driftwood Inn. As she earns her way as a maid Celeste is sucked into the small town activities like line dancing, parades and Sunday church. Her sister is determined to set her up with a nice guy, but Jenna has her own romantic entanglements.

I had three issues with this novel. Fir

It was fun to take a trip back to Moonlight Harbor and visit friends at the Driftwood Inn. If you haven’t visited yet you will enjoy getting to know everyone.
Celeste visits sister Jenna for the summer after her boyfriend dumps her. Although she finds herself doing housekeeping services for her sister at the Driftwood, it’s still nice to getaway from her teaching duties.
Jenna is still stringing along two love interests. She can’t make up her mind. Funny thing is Celeste is finding herself also a

Celeste thought she found true love until she gets dumped for another woman her “almost” fiancé has had on the side . She packs her bags and heads home to be with her sister Jenna in Moonlight Harbor. Surely things will be easier at home with family. But will it? Celeste soon finds a safe choice for true love, a pastor has to be safe right? But is he the right choice? Is Celeste choosing the right man this time? Can Jenna help? And who is Henry ? And why every time she is near him, her heart flu ...more

The Summer Retreat (A Moonlight Harbor Book) by Sheila Roberts

This is the third book of a series, starting with Welcome to Moonlight Harbor. The beach setting, and the characters (Jenna, Sabrina, Aunt Edie, Pete, Seth, Brody, Celeste and so many more) are fascinating and of course the Driftwood Inn, which actually ties the whole story together.

This book continues the story from book 1 and 2 but goes deeper into the characters and the happenings in their lives. This book is written so well that

This is the first book by Sheila Roberts that I have read, but it definitely won’t be the last. Ms. Roberts has written a clean second chance romance. It was refreshing to read a romance book that had great characters and a romantic story line that wasn’t riddled with steamy sex scenes...proving that a good writer doesn’t have to rely on sex scenes to write a wonderful book.

I enjoyed reading about Celeste, who moved to the small town of Moonlight Harbor to help her sister, Jenna, run the Driftwo

Man troubles!!
Celeste is back in Moonlight Harbor to help her sister (Jenna) and to recover her heart. Ah! Since there are still men on the planet, she comes face to face with "dating mode" again. Life is complicated.
Perhaps Celeste should stick with a reliable, sensible man. What if that man had gossipy women around him a lot? Can Celeste be strong enough to withstand some MORE trials?
Jenna is certainly juggling many plates, with so much on them, herself. She's very concerned for her sister,

A perfect book to read at the beach!

Celeste is a teacher, so when her summer holidays start she decides to go to visit her sister for the summer and help her at her motel at the beach .,.. what better way to get over a broken heart. What Celeste doesn't expect to find is the love ... with a minister and hate ... with a writer.

I absolutely love this new book by Sheila Roberts in the Moonlight Harbor series! Could be the best installment, book number 3, in this fun, uplifting, humorous series. After a disastrous relationship, Celeste (Jenna's sister) arrives to recover and to help at the Driftwood Inn. There are many twists and turns in the story, and it's a satisfying and quick read to ...more
