The Summer Retreat by Sheila Roberts

Contemporary small town, clean romance. Multiple points of view.
Lots of characters give the story charm.
Third book in the Moonlight Harbor series. Can be read as a standalone. I hadn’t read the previous books and had no trouble follow the characters.

Man hungry. The heroine had no other life goals than finding and marrying the right man. The explanation behind it was that she never knew her father. Nothing made her happy and she whined about being alone at va

The Summer Retreat is the perfect book to cozy up with on the beach!

This was my first read by Sheila Roberts and can definitely see why she has so many fans!

The Summer Retreat focuses on Celeste who has a pattern of falling for too many wrong men. Emerson her current boyfriend is a cop and he just doesn't wan't to commit to her fully. Sadly, Celeste finds Emerson cheating on her with another woman and she's had it!

Celeste finds herself back in the Driftwood Inn with her sister Jenna. Celeste

Sheila Roberts has written a delightful story. The Summer Retreat will likely be a popular choice for summer reading. This is the perfect type of escape story for the beach. Basically, Celeste is escaping her cheating ex by going to visit her sister at Moonlight Harbor. Celeste will help her sister run The Driftwood Inn for the summer. The town has a benevolent atmospheric presence that will be familiar to anyone who has lived in a small town. The characters of the town, etc. are kindly, graciou ...more

Head to Moonlight Harbor for more of Sheila Roberts’ typical small-town charm in The Summer Retreat. It’s the third book in the series, revisiting familiar characters and adding some new drama into the mix, too.

Celeste Jones heads to the beach, determined to get over her recent heartbreak. However, as her sister Jenna’s experience will attest, romance in Moonlight Harbor is no easy feat to maneuver. It’s entertaining to see the story unfold, full of heartwarming and humorous moments, as Celes

Are you looking for a fantastic romance novel to take to the beach this Summer? Well, look no further because this is it! What a lovely and exciting book this was and a perfect and refreshing change from my usual, favourite genre.

“The Summer Retreat” is the third book in the ‘Moonlight Harbor’ series by best-seller author Sheila Roberts, the first book being ‘Welcome to Moonlight Harbor’, followed by ’Winter at the Beach’.

Although I’ve seen many of the author’s books around in my local library,

This was a cute read in some parts, though it was the best buffer between my thrillers. Celeste was cheated on my her cop boyfriend, so she goes away for the summer to her sister's inn at the town on Moonlight Harbor, helping her out as a maid. There she meets 3 eligible men, and decides which one was more suitable and dates him.

My first read by Sheila Roberts, I liked the book in parts. There are many characters, each are charming. Small towns have their own busybodies and gossips. And it was

I've never read a Sheila Roberts book before, so I was curious to try this one out. It IS #3 in a series, but I never felt lost (although I did feel curious about some of the events mentioned, especially the Christmas disaster, so I'll probably read the earlier books to check it out).

This book focuses on Celeste, who was cheated on by her boyfriend, and comes to the beach to help her sister Jenna with the Driftwood Inn and to recover. Celeste still wants to find "the one" and so is attracted to

The Summer Retreat by Shelia Roberts is the 3rd book in the Moonlight Harbor series, and my first book by this author. Celeste Jones has her summer all planned out with her boyfriend, hoping to become his fiance, until she catches him with another women. So she is off to the beach for the summer, working for her sister at the Driftwood Inn. I really enjoyed this cute fun romance, especially as I watch it snow outside my window. I recommend this sweet romance, and am looking forward to reading mo ...more

After finding her boyfriend cheating on her Celeste decides she needs some time away, to reflect on her past decisions
What better place then the Driftwood Inn a place where life is simple and there is always a good time.
This is the third book in the series, but the first I read and I wasn’t lost at all.
Loved this town and the people and I look forward to revisiting time and time again.

As a younger reader, I had a really hard time with women’s fiction. I felt too young to relate to any of the characters and like I could never fully understand or realize their struggles. But I also felt like I was too old for the YA genre—at least at that time.

Now that I am almost forty, I feel like I can finally appreciate women’s fiction in its entirety so lately I’ve been really open to this genre and enjoying it so much!

Sheila Roberts is a fairly well known author to me. I haven’t read any

The Summer Retreat welcomed us back to Moonlight Harbor which was as stunning as ever and still filled with caring (but nosy) locals–and in this lighthearted novel, two charming sisters both looking to heal and find contentment in their lives.

‘Moonlight Harbor was the perfect place to mend a broken heart.’

I can always depend on Sheila Roberts for a rock solid story with dynamic characters, interesting backgrounds, and a pleasing plot. The Summer Retreat

If you're looking for a meaty novel with complex characters and deep emotion, this book may not be your cup of tea. If, on the other hand, you're in the mood for an easy, breezy summer story with a town full of quirky characters, some laughs, a sisterly dynamic, a cranky mystery writer, and an adorable rescue dog, The Summer Retreat should be a fun addition to your summer reading list.

After her serious boyfriend dumps her for the woman he's been having an affair with for the last several months Celeste Jones decides to lick her wounds in Moonlight Harbor at her sister Jenna's B&B, the Driftwood Inn. As she earns her way as a maid Celeste is sucked into the small town activities like line dancing, parades and Sunday church. Her sister is determined to set her up with a nice guy, but Jenna has her own romantic entanglements.

I had three issues with this novel. Fir

The Summer Retreat by Sheila Roberts, book three in A Moonlight Harbor series, is Celeste Jones’, story. Celeste’s summer plans were destroyed when she discovers her boyfriend cheating on her. Instead she heads to the Moonlight Harbor, and the beach, to help her sister, Jenna, with the Driftwood Inn. Almost from day one, Jenna is pushing Celeste to start dating again. There are lots of things to really love about this book. Let’s start with Celeste. Celeste is a great character, for both her strengths and her flaws. She’s so real and any woman can relate to her. Who hasn’t made mistakes picking their partner for life? Learning not to let those mistakes define you is a lesson we all must learn and is at the heart of this book, with a humorous canine friend thrown in.

Speaking of canine friends, it is no secret that I am a dog lover and a big fan of any book tha

This is a great book to take with you to the beach or to let you think you are there.

It's great to be back at the Driftwood Inn with Jenna, Sabrina and Aunt Edie. There are still all the wonderful people of the town. Some are helpful and some not so much. Jenna's sister Celeste has come to town to get over a cheating boyfriend and look for a new relationship she hopes. Her sister wants to help her find the man. Can they find the right man? What a fun read full of emotion, humor and banter that I could not put down. Celeste has arrived for the summer in Moonlight Harbor to help her sister, Jenna out at the resort and mend a broken heart. Jenna wants her sister to start dating again right away. Pastor Paul is the most logical choice but he doesn't make Celeste's heart pitter patter. Then there is Henry, staying at the resort working on his first novel, but he is only there for short time and his life is kind of a mystery. So who wil ...more

I thought this book was fantastic! Celeste is a teacher who is just trying to live a happy life with the perfect man. Unfortunately right before summer, she walks in on her "perfect" boyfriend, Emerson, with another woman. She decides it's time to get away and make a change. She decides to spend her summer with her sister, Jenna, in Moonlight Harbor. She plans to stay away from men, but plans change.

I read and enjoyed the first book in Moonlight Harbor series, somehow missed the second, and still didn’t feel lost reading the third and newest book The Summer Retreat. So if you haven’t read this series you should know each book can stand alone.

Celeste Jones is fresh out of what she thought would be a permanent relationship with the perfect man. She’s lost confidence in her ability to pick the right one

Celeste has been burned by love one too many times. She retreats to Moonlight Harbor for the summer to get away after a break up and help her sister at her hotel. Celeste has decided to play it safe with the town pastor. The Perfect Man. But is he perfect for her. Thoughts of the guest in room 12 keep turning up.

This was a good romance read. I liked the characters, including a parrot named Jolly Roger. I read this book in one sitting. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

Absolutely enjoyed this story! Been a fan of the series having read the first two books in which we enjoyed the POV of Jenna, Celeste’s older sister. This story has us in the same setting only seeing life thru the eyes of Celeste after she dumps a cheating beau and decides to spend the summer with her sister in Moonlight Harbor.

Cozy, fast paced and quite enjoyable read. Perfectly timed with summer round the bend. Standalone story, you don’t have to have been in the loop with the first two, howe

This was a cute, yet comfortably predictable read. A good pick if you’re looking for a calm, cozy beach read. It’s such a quaint series to fall into. In this book, Celeste, who is hoping for a proposal from her boyfriend ends up with exactly the opposite-a broken heart. She heads to Moonlight Harbor, where her sister Jenna is at her cozy Inn, the Driftwood Inn. Celeste is eager to be near her sister and hopes to mend her broken heart. The Driftwood in provides her with a great distraction from ...more

I enjoyed myself while reading this. while it wasn't too serious of a book, it did have enough substance as far as plot to keep me entertained. It was a quick and very easy read. perfect a read at the beach or something easy to get you out of a slump.

I found this book was special due to the sisters bonding together & helping each other at the beach. I really like Celeste & Jenna due to how close they are & how Jenna is trying to help her sister find the right man to fall in true love with. I love that it's at a beach because I love summer & camping & that's how I met my true love.

I loved loved this book. Back to Moonlight Harbor Sheila takes us. I was happy that we got to know more about Jenna's sister Celeste. I was routing for her to have a happy relationship after she dumped Emerson. In fact I kind of remember him from the last book a bit and he would not do things with her then. There was two guys interested in Celeste, Paul and Henry. I was routing for one more so than the other and in the end I got what I hoped for. I love Sheila's writing style as I always feel go ...more

This was a very funny, loving, entertaining book! You could not help rooting for Celeste all the way to the end. It made me wish there was a Moonlight Harbor to move to and be a part of that community. I will definitely go back to read the previous two books in this series.
