Honor Babinot is one of the best defense attorneys in Idaho, with a long list of high-profile wins on her resumé already. But her elite law firm is an old-boys’ club, and to the partners she’s just a ‘little lady,’ despite her success. After another major win in the courtroom, she makes a bold move to leave the swanky office behind and step out on her own.

Someday, she’ll reach the success she’s worked so hard for, and on her own terms.

Logan Cahill is the eldest son of a powerful rancher and heir to the Cahill family legacy. He’s also a notorious ladies’ man, who’s avoided commitment to anything but his family. Now that he’s past forty, and his younger siblings have the next generation of Cahills handled, Logan is well set in his ways and perfectly content to be married to the Twisted C Ranch.

Someday, he’ll be head of the family he loves, and he wants nothing to draw him from it.

Since Honor saved Logan’s younger brother from conviction for a murder he didn’t commit, she’s taken up acreage in his head. Honor certainly remembers Logan. A chance encounter brings them back together, and sudden trouble draws them close. They can’t deny or resist the fire that ignites between them.

Honor is married to her career. Logan is married to the Twisted C. Neither wants to need the other. Neither has room in their plans for love.

But love has plans of its own.

I was born and raised in the Midwest, but I was transplanted into the dusty soil of Northern California and have apparently taken root there. An inveterate geek and gamer, I am a fan of many things considered pop culture and maybe even lowbrow.

As a reader, my favorite genres are science fiction and fantasy, but as a writer, I've found my home in romance--or perhaps it's better to say simply "love stories." I have a yen to try other genres, too, at some point, but for now my muse wants to tell stories about lovers and families.

I write for the joy of it, and I write stories that I want to read. If others like them, too, that's just the cherry on top. I’m not interested in rules and formulae. I follow my muse and my characters and let them take me where they want to go, wherever that might be. I like big emotions, dark and light.

I like complicated characters with flaws and weaknesses as well as strengths, and I like each character’s strengths and weaknesses to be different from those of other characters. I’m much more concerned that my characters be interesting and diverse than that they be widely considered to be likable. I try to create people, not types.

Likewise, I want my stories each to be distinct from the others. Once I’ve told a story, I don’t want to tell it again. So even within a series, one of my books might be very different from the next. Some might be very dark, others equally mild.

That isn’t to say there aren’t trends and recurrences in my work. I’m drawn to certain themes and settings, and my muse has her favorite toys and tools. But I guard against those tendencies becoming a formula.

Kickass writing.
Adult, mature characters despite their flaws. Real people.
Strong, independent heroine with a vagina of steel.
Hot, confident hero.
Slow burn.

And just as I suspected, Ms. Fanetti couldn't help herself. She pulls the wool over your eyes by claiming this series is different, less violent, persuading you to let your guard down, and then strikes when you least expect it. Twice. But we did crawl to the HEA.

The first half definitely merits 5 stars, the second half is also good but somehow more calming, with less turmoil.

Yeah, this book is light years ahead of book 1.

What a treat.

WOW! SOMEDAY started out with a bang!  Honor is a defense attorney and she has a case that has horrifying details.  I forgot I was reading a fiction story because I was so absorbed into the court case.  That case sets the tone for Someday.

Honor is working in a firm where she's not respected as an equal.  Honor knows her worth and gives the firm an ultimatum - make her a partner or she walks.  She does what she has felt deeply in her soul she should have done awhile ago by walking out and going at it on her own.  This is a moment when the reader wants to stand up and clap for Honor.

Setting up her own practice has its challenges that Honor navigates while persevering in her career and life. The reader is able to feel her struggle and also celebrate in the small victories.

Unfortunately, there are some troubles that follow Honor into her new job and life.  Just when I'd think everything was going to be smooth sailing, I'd be in shock by what I was reading.   I have to admit I loved how much this book kept me on my toes.

Oh yea, I haven't forgotten about the male love interest, Logan.  One of my favorite description of a male character was in this book.

"Logan Cahill stood on the sidewalk, right outside their locked door. The sunset lit him up like a sacred idol, painting his edges with gold shimmer. With his hair and beard, he looked like a cowboy Jesus."

Logan never saw himself settling down. He wasn't a one-woman man.  He was content with his ranch life and visiting his "lady friends" when he went to the big city.  It's not just Honor who grows and changes as the story goes along BUT Logan who has to come to terms with being in a relationship.  Logan will grapple with figuring out what he wants for his future.

Someday is the second book in The Sawtooth Mountains Story series. It can be read as a standalone. Lovers of small-town romances will enjoy this one.  The feel of family and community is strong within these pages.  I was so immersed in their story that I was constantly glued to my kindle.

***3.5-4 stars***
Someday started out guns blazing. Honor was introduced in the previous book 1 along with Logan and his Cahill family.
Honor is such a kickass heroine. A dedicated and skilled defense lawyer. She helped out Logan’s younger brother Heath and ever since his trial these two can’t seem to let go of another whenever they meet.
Logan is a woman’s man who doesn’t do relationship or feelings. Honor is the opposite. These two have their issues navigating through a relationship especially when one them doesn’t want to be in one and is not keen on communicating. Honor is honest and doesn’t take crap from Logan. He was difficult to like in the beginning mainly because of his insecurities and reason for being with Honor but luckily he came to his senses.
Their story had so much. Action, shock and romance. I enjoyed being back with the Cahill family. They share such a strong bond and are easy to welcome Honor to the family.
The pace slowed at the 70-75% mark and I felt there was some filler that easily could’ve been left out. Despite that I really enjoyed Someday and I look forward to Reese’s book.

The characters and the story pulled me in, but it's the setting that brings this story fully to life. Susan Fanetti has created a world of beautiful splendor. It's immersive. Bewitching. I want to live in Jasper Ridge. I wouldn't mind a sexy cowboy like Logan Cahill to go with it either ;)

There’s always violence, even in a CR like this in Ms. Fanetti’s books.
I’m okay with that, but hated to see who the victim was, it isn’t fair and sad.

I like this heroine, not so much with the hero.
He was a manchild in his 40’s 🙄
Luckily he was changing and became a better man later in the story.
The story is good, but I don’t like the direction Ms. Fanetti’s took regarding the heroine’s career 🤨
But it was a good read.

**Someday generously provided in exchange for an honest review.**

5+ ”Someday started now.” Stars

I’ve read this story more times in a short period of time than I’ve read any other Fanetti novel. Each of those times I’ve come away feeling more, understanding more, and falling for these characters more. Someday examines the very acute complexities of love and rearranges the very essence of it into something Logan Cahill and Honor Babinot never realized they needed. The very idea of it shakes them to their cores and how Fanetti constructs their story from that once again left me in awe. It’s classic Fanetti in that their lives are never without the hurdles and thunderstorms you face in real life but still, as always, love and hope persist.
“Whatever this was he felt, it scared the righteous hell out of him. And he never wanted it to stop.”

There’s something that feels really different about this particular novel as well when in the context of Fanetti’s vast realm. Yes, the setting plays a huge role in beautifully poignant and important ways. The characters are older, established, and fearful. These two have neither taken the time to be truly introspective and discover what’s most important to them nor looked at their lives as though they were missing anything. Logan and Honor are so very vulnerable to each other in this novel, the shock of it was unexpected but the understanding, realization, and compassion I drew from their vulnerability was on a whole new level. They are a character case study on what it truly means to give, to love, and to be whole within that love. They are a bumpy couple. Boy are they ever a bumpy couple. Their story is raw - full of heart-pounding intensity, misunderstandings, and guarded hearts. It’s also so very real and so very honest, beautifully honest.
“No one can force someone else to make a sacrifice.”

Brilliantly structured, evenly paced, full of trials and tribulations that showcase the characters strengths and weaknesses exquisitely – Susan Fanetti once again shows her glorious gift for storytelling. The charm of this cowboy series, and this story specifically, molds its way into your heart quickly as the whole Cahill clan makes you feel right at home on the Twisted C Ranch. Everything you thought about Logan Cahill will be turned upside down. Honor Babinot finds something in him that has been left wholly untapped. Turns out though, Honor has some discovery to do herself as a part of her you’d also never expect becomes increasingly unearthed. Their journey to each other in this story easily reminded me why I love the realness of a Fanetti story. You’ll fall in love with them as you watch them fall for each other. A perfect cowboy/city girl romance. Someday is a chance at love neither one can pass up no matter how great the sacrifice of self may (or may not?) be.

3.5 stars rounded up. Even though I hadn't read #1, I still enjoyed this. Though there were lots of refs to #1 so it would probably be better to read that first, I guess.

This book doesn't have the gritty edge of some of Ms Fanetti's other series, although there is some violence. But basically, it's a romance between two people who need to grow and develop as individuals before they can really let themselves go and have a real relationship with each other.

There were a couple of points where there was a little too much navel-gazing and angsty circular arguments/discussions. But overall I liked the book. Honor is an attorney who had strength, intelligence and integrity. She just needed to find a new way to go forward with her life after things took a different direction. Logan is a rancher who really loves the land and his lifestyle. He also loves sex but doesn't know how to have a relationship that lasts longer than one night. In fact he doesn't even want that till he meets Honor.

An enjoyable and overall satisfying read. I think I'll go back and try #1 now.

I feel so useless when it comes to reviewing SF's books, because nothing I say can really convey how I feel about her work. All I know is that her characters are always, ALWAYS well built. Her words are beautiful and the world's she creates - no exception for Honor & Logan. Their story was something else, it went to places I wasn't expecting.

Honors brother, his story would be very, VERY interesting.

Logan has the manners of a gentleman.
Honor had the patience of a saint.

Hmmm....

Let me start off by saying that I absolutely loved Somewhere, the first book in the Sawtooth Mountains series. I snapped up Someday and was excited to get back to Sawtooth Mountains.
Now, I'll tell you if I hadn't spent money on this book and didn't love the first books H/h I would have stopped reading by chapter 3 because I absolutely hated Honor and hated the stereotyping that the author choose to go with. Honors character was ludicrous. Logan was a better brother and uncle then our supposedly Hero, 41 year old idiot! This was not a "Love story" by any means in my book.
3 Stars for Someday, hopefully the next book in this series will redeem this author for me.

I really wanted to like this book and I was looking forward to reading it, but found myself very disappointed and at times really peeved with the main characters. They just didn’t gel with me, unlike the characters of the first book. In particular I couldn’t get myself to like Logan very much, one leading male I would not want in anyway. His talks with Honor quickly led to me doing some skimming.

Also, without giving away anything about the plot, I wasn’t keen on some of the stereotyping that occurred in this book.

The author has a good writing style, but the main characters were a big issue for me, can see myself re-reading the first book in the series at some point, but not this second book.

Where do I start? I've rated this one 3 stars even though there were so many things I didn't like about this book. I think the "romance" didn't really start until the very end of the book. I really, really didn't like the h. She is one self-centered, opinionated individual. Lots of stereotyping going on. All men are douche bags; women always are the ones to sacrifice; can't ever depend on a man; always be self sufficient and independent. I'm a very strong willed, dominant woman but I also know that if you love someone then you both have to meet somewhere in the middle. I really hated her ultra liberated mother who couldn't accept any woman depending on a man and a woman who didn't realize the sacrifices her own husband made for her. Lots of descriptions about the mistreatment of the indigenous people. The H is a former manho but at least he comes from a family that had normal feelings about family and love. Even with the h's ultra liberal attitude, the H is who she always called when in need. Lots of push and pull between the two main characters. I would have loved to see more about the actual romantic relationship and less of the liberal chatter on social issues and less emphasis on misogynist views.
I loved the first book in the series, but this one not so much.

Another reviewer did an amazing job of describing the MC journeys so I will focus more on Susan Fanetti’s phenomenal writing. I have read all her Pagano and Brazen Bull books along with her stand alones and now the Sawtooth books and she has such an amazing skill at weaving a visual of the place, time and characters that are distinct and rich. It might be weird to say this but there is also a painterly set-up for each series that is unique and places you within that context so much you are walking through each scene with the characters. You are sucked in and living through each scene as only the best authors can do. I have to tackle the Norse Women and Signal Bend series but love the imperfect but much loved characters in the books I have already read that I fall back and reread to nourish and feed my reader’s heart.
Thank you, Susan for another great read, I always want more and I can’t tell you how much I look forward to each new story.

Logan and Honor.

I am not a fan of manwhore types and this is the impression of Logan after book 1 so I wasn't sure I would like this book before even starting it.

Honor thinks quite early on
"Logan Cahill, eldest child of Morgan Cahill, had never been in a serious relationship, though he had a prodigious reputation as a ladies’ man. Logan was the kind of man who preferred unattainable women. He’d fuck just about anything, but he wooed women he couldn’t have. Other men’s wives, for the most part."
That said we have no intimate details.

Once they get together the issue is how to work out how to be together.
Logan hasn't been in a serious relationship and she is unsettled in her career.

We see the couple from book 1, how their relationship is progressing.
There are secondary characters that could have possible future storylines developing through the series.

No intimate scenes with anyone other than the Hero and heroine.

No cheating, once they are together there is no-one else. Its unclear if there is anyone else durimg the separated times before they get together.
Honor is battling in a male dominated mind set to further her career, she works hard and has been dubbed by her friends as 'an ice queen'.

They got to know each during the trial in book one, they kissed then but nothing else developed, in fact once the trial was over Logan ghosted her.

They are a bit stop/start with some between each time they bump into each other.

In the time between the trial and their next meeting there are no details about intimacy with anyone else but Logan cancels a date due to his dealings with Honor so I would assume he hasn't changed at that point, he thinks of himself as the other woman's 'dirty secret.'
Honor kisses a man, thinks of taking it further but it doesn't happen.

There isn't so much focus on the town in this one, it's referenced that as it's a small town every one knows his reputation with women but it's not the same interaction and politics as book 1.

HEA.

4.5-5 stars!

Book Two in the Sawtooth Mountains series definitely grabs your attention during the first chapter and keeps it! Wow, the cases and individuals that Honor is working with are intense! Someday, not just merely a word but more importantly a hope, is something that both Honor and Logan are striving for. At two separate points in their lives, and with a lot of turmoil, they keep reaching for each other but not quite meeting. Susan has a fantastic way of making you feel a part of the connection and that you’re sharing their story. I was angry, devastated, shocked, giddy and elated throughout this book. I stayed up into the early hours of the morning, as I needed to keep reading to find out what happened next. And I was not disappointed.

One of my favorite aspects of a Susan Fanetti book is how good her character driven plots are. You never lack for an interesting story line told by the fantastic characters themselves. Fanetti's books can veer towards the dark, but she pulls you back with the strength of the character's relationship. Also she writes some of the steamiest sexy time around.

Another 5 star read from this Fanetti Fan.

A long saga of Honor and her quest to be the best. The story does a shift about half through to Logan and then it meanders with a huge cast of characters. With that style I felt we were being set up for a sequel for another story featuring one of those developing characters but with so many I couldn't tell. Honor sure could win but at what cost. Logan was kind of a nasty manwhore with mainly married women so it took quite a bit for me to care about him. I appreciated the shift.
The last chapters seemed to go on like epilogues but we finally got our final chapter and hea.

Classic Susan Fanetti writing...which usually means I love/hate the book while reading but always end up with more love and respect for Susan Fanetti at the end of the book. It's always heartbreaking (perhaps maybe violent) to read at some point but also ALWAYS breathtakingly beautiful as well so the good ALWAYS outweighs the bad. That's how I sum up this book and all of her books as a whole.

A realistic story set in the present day but with a strong leaning towards the past.
The MC's meet in the earlier book in this series; she is a defense attorney and is hired to defend his brother while he is the eldest son and heir to a ranching empire.
I will not elaborate on the details of the story as it is a long book and spans over a year of their lives so too many details to cover.
H is a the heir to a ranching empire; well liked in his hometown, suepremely comfortable in his life and with a taste for playing with married women. He connects with h a few times but gets cold feet as he feels she sees through him and will demand more than any other woman will. She makes him want to be a better man; he is already a decent man but he improves some more and commits to her.
h is a strong character who understands H fairly well; it is her own life she is confused about.
They finally connect at a turning point in h's life and start living together. From there H battles with his insecurity where h is concerned and finally admits he loves her. From that point, he is fully into the relationship. h takes longer as she is sure she loves him but she is at a vulnerable point in her career and doesnt want to take a step that she will regret later.
I as the reader was not sure which direction their life will take; the story pulled me in and I was wondering and worrying along with the MC's about their life but one thing that I was never in any doubt of; the love they had for each other.
Readers of Susan Fanetti know the type of intimate scenes she writes; her characters are mature people who are in tune with their desires and don't hold back on expressing it. What was impressive was the softness and tenderness of the scenes that took place out of the bedroom, in the course of their day to day life.
I also fell in love with the scenery; the snow covered mountains where Logan lives. The writing and dialogue is whimsical and poignant at times and some scenes that carried maximum impact; when he flies out to spend Thanksgiving with her, when he proposes and my favorite; when they marry and ride out to spend the night camping; with camp fires, H leaning on a saddle while h leans on him; I could literally imagine early settlers in the mountains spending a passionate evening with each other in the firelight.
The reason I took one star off was that the story dragged a teeny bit in the middle; maybe because its a long book and not every bit is high octane. Plus the end bit was when they decide to try for a baby a few months down the line; greedily, I wanted to see whether they had a boy or girl.
h also describes H as very pretty at times; and that was sweet in itself; H was an alpha male through and through; a bona fide cowboy ...
And what a very long review I have written but in conclusion the book is worth a read ...

Wow, I don’t know why I waited so long to read book two of this series, I loved book one but for some reason held off on starting this one. I love this author and in my eyes she can do no wrong. I loved Honour and Logan. What a love about this author is taking a character, giving it a tough outer shell (like Honour) and Logan (he was a bit of a ladies man) and breaking characters down to see inside their souls. Logan and Honour take a while to sort out their relationship but once they sort out their feelings, their relationship was simply beautiful, loved the backdrop of the ranch, I could imagine the scenery to be very picturesque in my head. Amazing.

I tried...I really tried. And I was at page 67 where she got scared of Tyler (beacause of what I never understood!!) and called Logan. I was started to like Honor. Because of her morality, courage and self-respect but here is the reason i can't move on from pg 67

"“Uh huh,” she sniffed. The cops were coming. She didn’t need Logan.
He didn’t have to come save her. But that didn’t make her feel better, or any less
alone. “They’re coming. I’m okay. I’m okay.”
“What’s your address, darlin’?”
“It’s okay. I’m sorry I called. It was stupid.”
“Honor, I’m coming. What’s your address?”
She didn’t want to be alone. So she told him her address."

It's not that Logan was her bf. Moreover, few hours ago she decided not to give him chance .So what changed!! She called the cops right?? She's a CRIMINAL lawyer right?? And it's not like Tyler did something so why couldn't she manage a simple DREAMY TYLER !!

Maybe this is my problem but my heroines should have some self-respect otherwise I can't continue.

Not a bad read. In some parts it felt like it wore on unnecessarily but overall it was good.

I felt for Honor. Girl couldn’t cut a break with all the shit that was thrown at her. But Logan was there to help her through. I found it interesting their dynamic. Him wanting her to need him and her wanting to remain independent. I can relate.

He was your typical man whore. But I felt the shift from that to in love was organic and his struggles with it were endearing. I actually felt like these characters were very similar to mine and my husbands. So I kind of felt this one a little different. It was interesting to read from outside looking in.

This is definitely not the authors best work. It’s filled with huge portions of inner monologue and a lot repetitive. I was thirsting for dialogue in a lot of those book. It was too bad but wasn’t necessarily needed. However I felt more dialogue would have shown more depth and growth between the MC’s versus it just happening: rejection to love at the speed of light.

I don't even know what put me off with this book. All the ingredients are there, but I am not loving the dish. Logan and Honor (hate the name, by the way, too on the nose) were just like oil and water.

And I would bet you anything, in real life they would not end up together. After a certain age people DO NOT CHANGE! They are just too set in their ways. And even if they bend themself for other person, it's just for a while, then old habits would eventually kick in. It's my firm belief.

Truly I would be more happy if they parted on amicable terms and lived their separate and different lives. Pretty good HEA in my mind.

That is why skipped quickly last couple of chapters.

But what I did like is the suspense part of the story. With all the gory bits :/ who would've thought...

Good but too much excess and totally unnecessary information. Most of the chapters I skimmed through or just plain skipped as it was talking about stuff I had no interest in. The last three or four chapters...the same unnecessary boring information. It about put me to sleep...yikes. I love SF books, they can be very emotional and traumatic for me, this book was no different, the tragic event that occurs was not expected and shocked me to the core.

Overall it was a good read, it could have been better without all the jibber jabber though...

This was so intelligently written and I'm consumed by this author and series now. Some violent events in this book caught me off guard a few times, but in a good way that kept me engrossed in the story. The author isn't afraid to shock the reader, and the events really helped to develop the plot. I can't say enough. Loved it.
