I just happened to come across this on Instagram. I was interested by the stunning cover, and when I clicked the author’s link I was surprised to see it on kindle for FREE! Naturally, I immediately started reading it.

Elendil is a scifi/fantasy coming of age story. Along with some great Tolkien-inspired names, it’s unbelievably action packed and it has a lot of heart. As a first entry into a new world, it’s definitely short (I would gladly have read twice as much!) with an incredibly fast pace.

When Abriana, our first person perspective, finally meets her long-gone mother, she’s thrown into an intergalactic coup that spans the width of multiple systems. Oh, and did I mention she’s from earth, the same earth as us, the one that knows nothing of aliens? How would you respond to such a drastic change in your life? A 17 year old high schooler is no warrior.

The POV worked well for this and the author did a great job creating a voice for the character. I really enjoyed the worlds the author created, and I’m really intrigued by the fact that the worlds are more advanced but still have monarchies.

This worked really well for me, and was a lot of fun, it could definitely have used a little more editing though.

As always, it was nice reading from the point of view of a person of a colour. It was short and easy to follow along. It had a few typos but I assume this is expected as it is newly released. I can't wait to read what happens next.

Quick read. Numerous grammatical/spelling errors. Weak, inconsistent plot with a protagonist who was not compelling.

Do you enjoy the Hallmark movies or the CW TV shows?? then you'll love this book. I only made it to the 4rd chapter. - Spoiler alert. the first three chapters are all about teen angst of a teen being angry at a mother that abandoned at 3d ays old. Who is an alien from a different planet and is a general in an army that was needed to save her people from a terrible long lasting war. Her father never had any other significant relationships in the 16 yeas since that happened. Only to find out in the middle of ch 4 that the reason is because her mothers alien race has a gene that enables them to know when they have found their perfect mate.. And that triggered my I do not believe in the Princess and the Prince that there is ONE perfect person for you - that once you find them you should not/will not/can not love anyone else... it is completely ridiculous. And I reshelved it immediately.

I got this lovely book at LA Comic Con and had a great time meeting the author.

Im sure others have mentioned the typos and such, so I'll focus on the story. I enjoyed this book! Once I got past the structural stuff, it was just a pleasant romp through the galaxy.

It's definitely too fast paced in areas. There were moments where we lingered too long and then when we got to the action, it passed so quickly!

Wasn't really a fan of the proposed romance but ehh. I wouldve liked some world building more, really explored the politics and logistics of how everything came to be.

The main character is likeable and interesting and it'll be a hoot to see what she does next.

I really enjoyed this book, it was action packed, full of intrigue and some great alien romance! Aubriana starts out as a teenager with a chip on her shoulder about her absent mother, when she suddenly finds out her mother is an alien and ends up in the middle of a royal coo, its time for her to grow up. There are plenty of plot twists to keep this book rivetting, I'm really hoping there will be a sequel. Unfortunately the narrator was a bit flat, but overall that didn't ruin my enjoyment of this book

I found the story enjoyable, but rushed. The character development was almost non-existent, which was disappointing because I really wanted to be vested in them. I did enjoy the general story line and would most people would find this an easy, fun, read.

The pacing of the entire book was odd. You never really got a chance to get used to the characters before something drastic happened to them. Not sure I’m going to continue the series, but it was a fast read with an interesting storyline.

This feels more like an outline than a fleshed out story. I'll be reading the second book to see if anything changes. But there is a lot of potential for world-building (worldS-building?) here that doesn't get to see the light of day because everything moves so fast.

I realize I never reviewed this! I'm waiting on the next book, it was an easy read but I loved the story line, I understood Abriana through and through and I loved the characters and the work
