Bradley Anderson, known as Dr. Sadist, is a master of torture and a veteran director of snuff films at Deep Red Pictures—a studio owned by a sadistic entrepreneur, Mr. Snuff. He is paid handsomely for his work, he owns an expensive, secluded home, and he lives with a loving family. The problem? He loves his family and he can’t stop his once-buried conscience from reawakening. When he hesitates to murder a group of trespassing teenagers at Deep Red Pictures, Bradley is targeted by his employer and his employees. He is attacked in the most brutal way possible and his life is destroyed. But he survives. And he’s ready to exact his revenge. From the author of Mr. Snuff and Grandfather’s House, Jon Athan brings you into a criminal underworld full of opportunity, lust, and extreme violence. Are you ready to star in your own movie? This is the third book in The Snuff Network series, although the first three books can be read in any order. This novel contains graphic content. Reader discretion is advised.

Man, Athan keeps getting better. 3rd book in the series . Revenge galore. Brutal killings and some very touchy subject matter/situations. Athan teeters on just the right tipping point. Your thinking the whole time- oh he’s going that far!!

This is my favourite of The Snuff Network books by Jon Athan so far!! I've spent the last few days working my way through the series and I'm loving it! This is the most intense and brutal of them all so far. I did a lot more grimacing, (that's a good thing 😉) as this one feels a lot more descriptive. I enjoyed all the different kills and tortures in this one too. Now....on to the finale....🤘😁🤘

I’m not sure about this one. It was alright.

I was unaware that it was book 3 of 4 in the Snuff Network series and it ended with a pretty big cliffhanger that I was not expecting. I’m not sure how I felt about the 10 minute author commercial after the story either. I guess it’s no different than a book that has a ton of excerpts from other works, but since there was time remaining on the audiobook I figured it would get wrapped up somehow and then it was over and the commercial started. *End whiny reader rant.*

Anyway, the story wasn’t bad. It was a bit elementary in spots and predictable in others. It appeared to be extreme just for the sake of extreme and not really a story or character driven piece. (Not that I was really expecting that.) It was entertaining enough, however, and good for what it was. I really wanted to like it more. The narration was ok, as well, but may have been hurt by some of the choppy dialog and action. 2.5 Stars rounded up...

A great installment in the Mr Snuff series. I listened on audio and the narrator, albeit good, didn't have the right voice for this book. The story was excellent, with plenty of gore.

Didn't realise going in that this was part of a 4 book series but once I discovered that I bought the other 3 books. I really enjoyed this instalment in the snuff series, I thought the plot was pretty great but was obviously leading to a final climax. I loved Bradley as a main character and enjoyed his progression through the book. This is another grat book from Jon Athan.

Bradley is Doctor sadist. He works for a snuff film company and is one of the main killers for the company. It’s beginning to take a toll on him and he starts to plan him retiring. One thing about him is he doesn’t kill children. When three teens break into the building that they film in, he is ordered to kill them, When he can’t go through with it, They make Bradley pay. Bradley decides since he has nothing left to loose he will destroy the core of the company and everything in its path.

This was such a good story oh my! I haven’t read the first two but you don’t have to they can be read as stand alones! I was rooting for this character the whole time! He was such a badass and I really loved all the revenge scenes! Can’t wait to read all the others in this series!

I really have to pay attention when I buy books! I had no idea this was book 3 of 4. In fact I didn't realize until the end when I was left hanging. Didn't seem like the story was a continuation, so I didn't read the first two. It's got a solid story with some pretty imaginative torture. And I'm a sucker for revenge. The only reason I'm giving it four stars is because I threw the book when I was left hanging at the end. I probably would have given it five stars if I already had book 4. But now I got to order, wait for it, and reread this one because I know for a fact there will be 18 books in between the reading and I will forget the story.
I don't know if it's as good as the other three in the series but I would still recommend it on the twisted writing alone.

Jon Athan is one of my favorite authors. His books always make me cringe (which, let’s face it, we want when reading horror). I love this series and felt this book could have been read as a stand alone as well. If you haven’t checked these out, do it.

Bradley Anderson, a director of snuff films loses everything and everybody in a moment of senseless violence. Senseless violence; this book is all about senseless violence. I thought of stopping the audio several times, but I asked for this, and I owe the author a review. I realize this horror exists in the real world but it’s extremely difficult to face it. Am I to empathize with Bradley’s revenge? As far as I’m concerned, Bradley received less than he deserved after a life of debauchery, terror, and murder. I have only sympathy for Bradley’s family. Lastly, how do I rate this? Do I revel in the graphic violence and praise the author for his literary prowess? I cannot. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

It's just business... until it's not.

Very sadistic and violent book... duh.
Bradley is good at his job until his cold heart melts a little and decides it's time for retirement. Only, his boss catches him messing up and that's not good for anybody involved. At the beginning I wondered if I could feel apathy for Bradley because he's not the good guy but by the time I finished the book grew to appreciate the complicated situation his life revolved around. Can't wait for the next installment!

I'm starting to feel like something is wrong with me for continuing to read these gruesome tales from Jon Athan. I find myself cringing through most of the descriptive scenes and hating most everyone in the book, but I keep on coming back for more twisted gore from this twisted author. I might have said this before, but he's some kind of sicker version of Stephen King. If that's possible. But I keep reading though! LOL

Grisly and gory just as he warned us.

This book was incredibly explicit, however I couldn't put it down. Totally worth the read if you have a strong stomach. I thought I did until I read this. Definitely reccomend it though.

So, this one was definitely one of Jon's tame books. I've read "Blender Babies" which was a fun and cool read and had me on the edge of my seat, I've read "Are Your Parents Home?" which was twisted and absolutely fucked up and probably the most terrifying and gruesome book out of the four books I've read by him so far, and I've read "The Groomer" which was a lovely book that I still keep thinking about since that one got me emotionally for sure and one day I will read all of these books again once I find the time and attention span.

The only issue I had with this book here was maybe it did feel TOO light, but the gore and horror was there. It just felt like it was missing something bigger and that is all I can really say on it, I have no idea how else to describe what else I mean by that. I will certainly take some time to consider if I want to read his next book "Kill Wu" or not and then if I do, maybe it'll be a big blast of insane shit or it might just be like this book but possibly slightly more edgy. I usually never feel bored when reading an Athan piece but I did a few times with this one. Still love his writing though and I've got PLENTY more books to buy and read by Mr. Jon Athan, my primary favorite horror author.

+1 point = Terrifying characters who did very awful things. What an insane beginning and how absolutely WILD that I was questioning all human morale just from page 3.

+1 point = This book had me so conflicted... because I actually wasn't rooting for the main character in this book, due to the horrible things he has done! It doesn't feel so good when shitty things happen to you the way you've inflicted onto others does it?? But then I also had a TINY sliver of sympathy for him as well in a weird way. Never had a book make me question my OWN thoughts so strongly. Loved this.

+1 point = Straight, raw, to the point, unapologetic bad guys who don't exercise restraint just because someone may or may not be age or physically appropriate. There was never a dull moment, for all it's worth, when we got to explore the Deep Red Pictures and what went on in its basement... scary...

+1 point = I liked the font, the format, the chapters being labeled, no prologue and no epilogue, and how this book felt like a movie I could actually visualize.

-1 point = With this book feeling like a movie I could actually visualize, I just struggled with keeping up with the action scenes and fights, because just like motion pictures, I struggle to pay attention and remember who did what and my eyes kinda get lazy to keep track of everyone and everything. Then to also add onto this missed point, was what I mentioned earlier, it felt like there just could've been... more... like in my opinion, this would be a book I'd recommend to a new reader of Athan to see if they can handle his level of intensity.

Good book.

I liked this book. The action was cool, but I especially liked the protagonist's personality. Bradley had done some pretty awful things, but despite everything he was able to regain his morality and tried to be a better man for his family. That kind of change in a ruthless, sadistic, greedy killer actually made me regain some faith in humanity. Unfortunately, Bradley's employer and employees didn't like his changes and killed his family. Bradley barely evaded death and decided to take revenge. At least, he doesn't seem to have lost his morality again as he is now only killing villains and showed some remorse over killing Benny who used to be his close friend.

I'm rooting for Dr. Sadist and Ms. Vengeance. May they win and find redemption. May Andy Wu burn in hell for all eternity.

First thing, I wanted to say is I'm slowly catch up on all Jon Athan books, but it will take time since he has about 60 books.
Second thing I learned while reading this book is that its part 3 of a series and I am reading this out of order. I still need to purchase the other 3 books in this series.
This book like all his books comes with a trigger warning and it is very well deserved. A man known as Dr Sadist is in a vile snuff Industry, but he is given orders that is against his own personal rules, so he refuses. He and his family is than fighting for their lives and now Dr Sadist is p'oed and now wants revenge. His revenge is just and brutal. he is the best in the industry. Loved this book.

Jon Athan’s Snuff Network series doesn’t hold back. Dr. Sadist is no exception. I especially liked that we could see the story play out from someone involved in the Snuff industry.

I originally thought Dr. Sadist was going to be one of Athan’s most twisted antagonists, but the story is written starting when he wants to break out of the business. In a way, he is the protagonist (but it’s still quite weird considering all of the stuff he has done). Regardless, it’s an interesting perspective! I really enjoy when there are multiple layers to the lead character.

Another thing I loved was how the industry was portrayed. “It’s just business”. Very dark indeed.

Reading all 3 books got me real hyped for Kill Wu.

Very Kill Bill-esque

Fun gory read.

I enjoyed that even though the character has a career producing snuff films you end up sympathizing with him and become swept up in his journey for vengeance. What I found confusing is how he could evidently compartmentalize his work and home life before and then was suddenly unable to? Was his married life part of his life plan as a front what he did for a living? Did he enjoy ever his work or was there this angst the entire time? Was there a specific turning point? A bit more history would have been helpful and I think would’ve made for a starker contrast between his horrific work and the home normalcy he strove for.

Even though this is book 3 of a Quadrilogy and only one line mentions a character from book 2 it doesn’t spoil anything from the overall story (my findings from only reading 2 of the 4 books). This was an interesting look at Evil finding light and almost a backward growth of the main character. The innocent appear to pay the price for the rich people’s sick twisted and depraved pleasures, but the story runs and looks like it will be completed in the 4th instalment. Looking forward to the final chapter but I have to read the 1st book before Mr. Athan completes his FINAL book.

Grizzly. Gory. Gruelsome. Bloody. VIOLENT!
Dr. Sadist makes snuff films. "It's just business. Not personal."
Dr. Sadist, Bradley, messes up. Now they are making a film with his family! Can he save them?
Revenge!
What? Am I pulling for the psychopath?
I received an Audible version of this book from the author. This is my voluntary review.
I loved this narrator. He was able to relay this horror to me without cringing, moaning or crying! It was maybe a little sing-songy, but it all came out quite matter of fact. Normal. Great job!

I was lucky enough to get a free copy of the audiobook from the author. I enjoyed the story, which got straight to the action and didn't let up.
However, I really struggled with the narrator of the audiobook. It sounded like someone reading to a classroom, making sure to pronounce every single word clearly and correctly. It's great if you are just reading a list but it doesn't help you to get into the story. Sorry Mr Narrator Dude.
I'm looking forward to the next book!

IT'S ABOUT TO GO DOWN!

This is my third read in the 'snuff' series and I am so ready to read the final showdown "Kill Wu". Dr. Sadist has done some awful things and is basically an awful person whose death you should root for...somehow he is the hero in this book (huh?) I enjoyed this read and didn't want to feel bad for Bradley aka Dr, Snuff but it was hard not to.
When a person has nothing to lose...ANYthing goes...off to Japan to Kill Wu.

This was the book that started it all! My love for the work of Jon Athan! I havent been a member for Audible for quite some time and I started to use it more often. Back in the February I was one this horror facebook group I asked for some a little different, someone told me about Jon Athan and send me a link to this Audible page where there was so much to chose from. I decide to go with Dr.Sadist due to the cover really caught my attention, so with like 5 credits I got Dr.Sadist. Now where I work (a drive thru retail store), we had a very bad snow storm and the busy was slower than a snail. So, with a dead radio, I listen to Dr.Sadist, and man this was the spark I'VE been to look for, this book was very graphic and very disturbing it made me beg for more.

Killer job~no retirement benefits

Good storyline, well written. Gore was perfect balance to enhance and not detract from overall plot. Description of characters gave them soul, a readability to the reader. Not just a blood and guts graphic tale full of misspellings , this is a well written novel. Looking forward reading more by this author.

Awesome read

I love all things gory and written so I can picture all things gruesome in my head, so this series hit the mark. I rated it high because it truly was a great read. I would not ask the author to change anything. I recommend it for adult readers and all fans into revenge.

It was extremely violent and disturbing, but I liked the plot and it didn’t cross my hard limit, even if we were very very close.

The first part was too long in my opinion and the second part too rushed. I didn’t need X innocent people getting tortured, I was there for the bad guys getting what they deserved.

I really enjoyed reading this! It feels like a torture film plays in your head as you read, making it hard to put down. I had to stop myself from finishing it in one sitting because it was getting late but I finished it the night after!

I'm glad that the main character had some morals, too. The shin part was probably my favourite, I kind of wish it happened to the last guy lol

Awesome

All of Jon Athan's books that I've read have been a gruesome good read and this one is no different. If you're a fan of extreme gore and vengeance this is definitely a most read for sure. Now stop reading reviews and read the book because u won't be disappointed. Enjoy
