The forth book I've come across in a superb series of guides to wild places from this publisher. A lot remains to be said for these 'old school' written travel guides in our age of instant and up to date information available at a click. The effort spent on curating the best stuff and presenting it in an enticing and exciting format is well worth the reader's time in perusing.
Like the others in the series (India, Africa, SE Asia), this book contained beautiful images of landscapes, people and nature worthy of coffee table books. Detailed write ups on history, geography and introductions to flora and fauna were di rigeur, and make such books an easy access to reliable information in one place. Of course with the exception of logistical info like hotels and agencies that is outdated and cannot be depended on.
Pity that we won't see such publications anymore, since they are presumably a bad business proposition these days. Glad I collected some of these treasures!
