The Unicorn Horn: The Outcast Club Book 1
They were known as the outcast club. Leo, Kate and Samuel sat together each day at the peanut allergy table doing their best to avoid the school bullies, Daniel and Ernie. Daniel and Ernie were monsters who found daily enjoyment beating anyone smaller than themselves, which happened to be everyone else in the school.
Just when Leo thought things couldn’t be worse for him and his friends, Leo accidentally spilled a lunch tray all over the leader of the goon duo, Ernie. After a chase through their school the kids found a tunnel leading them into a world inhabited by magical creatures where they are quickly captured by an army of orcs, after being mistaken as part of the Army of the Unicorn.
The five unlikely allies are forced to put aside their differences and work together if they wish to escape the dangers to find their way home. All while being stalked by a talking wolf and their creepy school janitor who seems to be hiding some terrible secret.
But that’s just the tip of the threats that await them.

Fun portal fantasy for kids!
Good read for middle graders with magic and fantasy creatures in another world accessible from the characters' school. A trio of social misfits and the two boys who bully them end up captured by orcs and must band together to escape mortal peril. There's plenty of humor, warm-hearted friendship, acts of courage, and interesting twists that kept me reading. The talking wolf was my favorite. And there's a DRAGON which is always a plus. Definitely reading the sequel and beyond.
