Lorraine Heath is certainly one of the authors who writes with romantic and poetic flourish. She just has this way that will make you swoon just for the prose alone. I was looking forward to THE DUCHESS IN HIS BED because I've had a soft spot for Aiden since Finn's book THE SCOUNDREL IN HER B

Series: Sins For All Seasons #4
Publication Date: 8/20/19
Number of Pages: 320

I thoroughly enjoyed this addition to the Sins for All Seasons series. Of the six Trewlove children, I was most interested in reading Aiden’s story and Beast’s story. Aiden has intrigued me from the beginning, so I was happy to see his story. Next up is Fancy’s and maybe finally I’ll get to read Beast’s story.

Aiden is everything I thought he’d be – hard on the outside and soft in the center. He protects what is his and

For once I was not sure how this would end, I mean it is romance so I knew they would end up together but how?

Aiden is the bastard son of a nobleman who sold him to a babyfarm. Lucky for him a wonderful woman raised him and his other siblings. He now owns a gambling den, and one that caters to women. Women need to relax too and have some fun. And you know what, I liked all about Aiden, he was rather wonderful.

Selena is a widow and in dire straits. Her family is poor and she wants to give her sib

This was written by amazing author extraordinaire Lorraine Heath. That should tell you right there how scrumptious and delightful this story will be before turning the first page!! Seriously she is and has been one of my very favorite authors and her witty humor, strong emotiions and engaging characters always make for a memorable read!
The Prologue alone made me want to strangle a despicable Earl, but then the story picks up 32 years later with our heroine, Widow, Selena Sheffield, Duchess of Lu

Loved the hero, loved the glimpses into the lives of the previous couples but I hated the heroine Selena. Hated her. She was unlikeable and selfish, her motivations were selfish and she was using Aiden for her selfish purposes. Her redeeming quality was supposed to be that she was doing it for her sisters, to assure their position in society but she was mostly doing it for herself. I hated the way she made Aiden feel less than by insisting they could be together as long as they were never seen. ...more

This book was so good! I loved Aiden just as much as I knew I would and Lorraine Heath delivered another fantastic historical romance from beginning to end. When I first met Selena, I didn't think I'd like her that much because she was a bit of a snob and her whole plan didn't endear her all that much, considering it was Aiden that she chose for her plan. Still, she does a lot of growing over the course of this book and I ended up liking her for Aiden. Lorraine Heath is the bomb, one of my favor ...more

Aiden Trewlove understands women; it's part of his business of introducing them to vice at his club, The Elysium. But he never personally interacts with his guests. Until one masked woman catches his attention. She asks for forbidden moments with him and soon has him breaking all his own rules.

The moment she entered his club, Aiden Trewlove noticed her. He watched her watching him, curious about her reason for being there and to see the face behind the mask she wear. Owner of the Elysium Club who caters to women, Aiden will charm and he might flirt, but he never mix business with pleasure. And after seeing how dangerous love can be, he swore to never allow any woman to capture his heart.

Love is not the reason why the recently widowed Duchess of Lushing came to Aiden's club. She can't

I have read and enjoyed the previous books in this series and I think I've been most eager for Aiden's story, so I was excited to start it.

I loved Selena and Aiden. She's in a crap situation and doesn't have a lot of options. He's always got a mask on and maybe pushes people away. They're both loyal to their families and instantly attracted to the other. Oh, and I forgot to mention he's a complete marshmallow who legit gives her whatever she needs, regardless of what it is. It was great to see

Here is a "quick" review:

I love Lorraine Heath but I had a really difficult time getting through this book. It took me 2 weeks to struggle through 300 pages and then I put it down and never picked it back up again. It wasn't exactly a conscious decision to stop reading it at that point, I just wasn't compelled to finish it.

When deception is in the balance, can feelings stray true.

« The heart did as it wanted, loved who it would love. And seemed to have a penchant for choosing those who provided the most difficult of challenges. »

This was one unexpected ARC I was granted by the publisher Avon, and Mrs Lorraine Heath is part of the many authors I wanted to discover works. So once I finished my already due reads, I jumped in this new release.

I confess I am not fond of betraying/scheming characters, whatever the circu

Lorraine Heath is a new-to-me author, so I can attest that The Duchess in His Bed can be read independently of the series as a standalone with little to no confusion, even with it being the 4th installment in the Sins for All Seasons series. With that being said, I was definitely intrigued by the entire premise and the characterizations, enough so that I am thoroughly looking forward to reading from the beginning, r

Finally! I’ve been waiting for Aiden to find a woman who captures his attention and lays claim to his heart.

Aiden Trewlove has watched his brothers and sisters fall in love and marry well above their station, but he has no intention of ever settling down with one woman. That is until Selena Sheffield, Duchess of Lushing walks into his club and askes to be bedded.

Selena Sheffield is in need of a lover. And quickly. She must get

This book is the fourth in the series, but it can be read as a standalone. I walked into this one without having read the other 3 and I could follow the story with no problems.
Selena is a recently widowed duchess that needs to secure an heir in order to maintain her status and provide for her three little sisters. Her path takes her to Aiden, the owner of a gaming hell and bastard son of nobility. Aiden is immediately attracted to Selena but he struggles with what she's asking of him.

I feel like Lorraine Heath read my rant on her previous book, The Scoundrel in Her Bed and decided to prove me wrong. This one is such an improvement and I was so happy that my favorite 19th-century-adult-romance author is back on track! As you fellow readers know, erotic romance is one of the most difficult genres for writing AND reading, considering the language used. I admit, there are times when I think to myself - how did the Brits reproduce if their seduction style included words like "thr ...more

Uneven, this romance frustrated me. It had all the makings for a good story but it simply did not work.

There are too many stories here - the gay husband and his dear friend, the over the top villain who fucks his latest mistress in the room down the hall from his wife (who used to be his mistress who he’s about to poison), the H who finally finds and bonds with his birth mother, the multiple sisters on both sides who are all portrayed as sweet, kind, pretty, good hearted Stepford-youngsters, the

What a challenging storyline to tackle. I had to pause quarter into the book when I figured out Selena’s scheme involving Aiden. It looked like consent was going to be an issue. I’m glad I trusted in Ms. Heath and pressed on, otherwise I’d miss a lovely story.

As always with Ms. Heath’s books, things are not always as they seem and there’s an outlook shift at the end of the book that solves the conflict and leads the main characters to their HEA.

A couple of deus ex machina scenes lowered the ra

Thankfully not as angsty as its predecessor, but still, kind of predictable. (If I had to have one over the other, I think I'd chose the latter....)

What's more, I struggled to get into the MCs as a couple for some reason - maybe because they instantly came off as one. (For example, upon first meeting, a male server comes up to the heroine to asks if she wants anything, which instantly brings out the jealous "neanderthal" in the hero. Since when do Regency-era heroes regard themselves as neandert

Just when I think that this series has met its emotional depth or that I've met my favorite Trewlove sibling, Lorraine Heath manages to knock me on my butt in wonder and awe. Aiden and Selena's story kept me immersed from beginning to end and wanting more (in the best way possible). Their mutual devotion to their families, their strong (and well developed) personalities, and the palpable chemistry that morphed into something much more are all ingredients to a gripping book that stayed with me lo ...more

My Review: After reading book 1-3 of this one, YES I have actually read the previous titles! I have to say that this one was an improvement on those. I have had a hate and love relationship with this series but I keep coming back for more. This one though has made this a solid favorite series. This book will make you rethink how you view certain aspects of the sexual variety and man was it swoon worthy!! I could not put this one down.
