I've been a fan of Ms. Bradford's Amish books for several years now, and A Daughter's Truth is an excellent addition to the library. In her second foray into women's fiction, Bradford once again takes the reader deep into the world of the Amish. It was fun to see some familiar characters and locations from her last novel, Portrait of a Sister, but this story is not a sequel and isn't connected to the first book. This book tells the story of Emma, a young Amish woman with a difficult choice to ma ...more

I absolutely loved this book from the first sentence to the last!! Ms Bradford painted such a beautiful and entrancing story of love, loss, and family, set in the lovely Amish countryside of eastern Pennsylvania. While reading this book, I was lost in the smell of the barn, the fields, newborn kittens & the cold frosty air of late Winter. Oh yes, and oatmeal cookies!! ;) When a book is good, I get lost.. and I was lost. I experienced an emotional rollercoaster right along with the main chara ...more

A few days ago, I had the opportunity to read A Daughter's Truth by a new-to-me author -- Laura Bradford. And I found it to be a great story.

This author has written several books in the mystery category but has just recently branched into Amish-based women's fiction. I can't speak for her previous works, but this new genre seems to be an outstanding choice for her. The story's conflict takes place between the Amish and English worlds. The characters from both worlds and their stories are very we

A Daughter's Truth is a very emotional packed story written by Laura Bradford. This story is definitely heartwrenching, heartbreaking, and heartwarming all wrapped up in one. The author has done a remarkable job taking her readers on this journey with her main character Emma Lapp.

The characters are truely amazing and likeable. Each character has an amazing role throughout this story. Emma Lapp, a young Amish woman, never felt like she truely fit in her family or the Amish community. When Emma fi

A Daughter's Truth is a book that is hard to put down! From the beginning chapters, you are drawn into the story! when Emma finds her gift in the cemetery at her aunt's burial place, she begins to ask questions about her aunt, to know more about the mysterious woman. The answers she finds are not at all as she expected..as she meets new people, and learns new secrets that have been kept from her for 22 years, Exciting story! I loved it!

Laura. BRadford writes such comfortable, easy books. I love the Amish settings she chooses. A Daughter's Truth introduces Emma, who has always felt out of place. One day Emma discovers the truth about her heritage and turmoil ensues. She spends much of the story angry and resentful, while being pressured by her birth father to abandon her culture. Levi, a love interest, exhibits the utmost patience while waiting for Emma to decide. The ending is rather cliche, but it is appropriate. I love the c ...more

Amazing read!!!
If you want a book that will draw you in and keep you turning pages this book is the book for you.
You will feel the love and pain of the characters, as if you are right there with them.
So, if you read one book, this book is the one I would highly recommend!!!
The only drawback was I didn't want it to end!!!
Can't wait for the next book in this series.

This is my first book I read from this Author and I totally enjoyed. It is the story of Emma Lapp. She always felt that there was something not right in her family. Her Mother and family never really celebrated her birthday like her siblings. This is the day her mothers sister died. This day every year made her mother sad. They always visited the grave site and dad would take things off the grave and toss them. When she became 7 she would go to the grave before she went to school and take the it ...more

I’m not sure I can effectively put my thoughts of this book into the right words. I surely don’t want to post any spoilers.
The emotional pull of this story kept me reading well past my bed time. Have you ever felt like you didn’t belong, that something was wrong with you? What if you found out that you were right? That everything you knew for 22 years was mostly a lie? Would you have someone to turn to?
Imagine being Amish and not having the same kind of support systems we do.

Emma is twenty two years old. Emma felt all of her life growing up that she didn't fit in. She didn't fit in with the family or her other siblings. She always felt that her siblings were treated better than she has been. Emma knows that her birthday is the same day her mom lost her sister. Emma feels that is the reason she has always been treated differently. One day Emma visits her aunts grave site. Like she has since she was seven years old. Only this time she finds a locket and opens it and s ...more

A Daughter’s Truth is the first book I have read by Laura Bradford. This book drew me in from the start and was very hard to put down. Emma Lapp who is Amish makes a discovery that has her questioning everyone and everything about her life. Heartache, lies, love, truth all lead Emma on an emotional roller coaster journey about finding out who she really is.
I loved this book!

I received an ARC prior to publication and decided to voluntarily review it. Opinions are my own.

Wow, I read this story in two days. I loved Emma's story. Her growth is amazing and with a little help from some friends she finds her way. This story is highly unique for an Amish story. It is a Women's fiction so don't expect a huge romance. I wish there were more to that side but that's not women's fiction.

I highly recommend this story to anyone who loves Amish stories and Women's Fiction!

I read this book in 2 days, it was hard to put it down. Laura Bradford had me from the first page. I've read a lot of Amish books, but this was by far my favorite. Emma struggled with some real issues surrounding the circumstances of her birth. I felt that it was told in a way that a real young woman would struggle when certain truths were revealed, it was not sugar coated at all. I look forward to reading more of this talented authors books!

I was given an advanced copy of this book from the pub

It funny how we view life and never think that things may not be as they seem. A Daughter's Truth makes me realize that we all have have misconceptions that influence our lives and the way we treat others. It's not until we address our concerns that we realize things might not be as they seem in our minds.

I loved this story filled with hoped for romance, mystery, forgiveness, and family. I got so involved reading that I found myself wanting to help Emma and give her my advice. I loved that she w

The author has given us a story about a young Amish woman whom has always felt out of place in her family. Just like in all families with more than one child, sometimes you feel that one is favored more than others, but is it real or imagined?
Then on top of everything we soon find out that there have been deep family secrets kept here.
I soon wondered if everything I was reading or feeling was what really happened? Yes, all answers are here, and some are a bit scary when you think of an Amish fa

Wow! Just wow! This story spoke to me in ways most books don't! I felt so drawn into the character of Emma. This story is about an Amish woman Emma. She feels like she has brought sadness to her family because her young aunt died on her birthdate. Many family secrets are revealed and Emma finds her self finding out who she really is and her purpose. Mrs. Bradford's characters are so real in all of her books that they become friends and people who you'd love to know. The book kept me up hours rea ...more

Laura Bradford has written a book of Amish Fiction that had me gasping in shock at times, and crying in heartbreak at others. A Daughter's Truth brings the characters of Emma, Levi, Wayne and Rebeccah, and a few others together to tell Emma's tale.

Emma never looks forward to her birthday because her maam, Rebeccah, is always sad. The sadness stems from the fact that Rebeccah's sister died the day Emma was born. Rebeccah withheld the truth from Emma that her sister was really Emma's birth mother.

Aka Elizabeth Lynn Casey.

While spending a rainy afternoon at a friend's house nearly forty years ago, Laura Bradford fell in love with writing over a stack of blank paper, a box of crayons, and a freshly sharpened number two pencil.

Those early attempts at the craft had her writing and illustrating stories for young children. Wise beyond her years, Laura saved her first writing attempt in a hand de
