This is a sweet, clean and wholesome, Amish romance by bestselling author Emma Cartwright
The story lines were good overall, but like the other Christmas boxset, the stories were marred by things like changing the name of the city where something was going on, mid-story...changing the name of a character in a series from one book to another...errors in grammar...errors in the spelling of a name between one part of a given book or series and another. These issues were oresent innthe Christmas boxset but were not nearly as bad as in this set. Despite that, the stories are overall entertaining and the plots, though simple and sometimes variations onn a theme, still manage to be unique in most cases. I do wish there was more character development in some cases and/or that the books followed through with the stories more (or had an epilogue), but they're short, novellas and not novels, and this is how novellas usually end. I would say the author needs a decent proofreader. I know when I would write a long essay, I would be too close to it to see errors. There was a group of us who proofread eaxh other's assignments before we turned them in, people we trusted not to copy our work. These days, the strict grammar, syntax, and spelling requirements of my youth have been steadily decaying and are now nearly nonexistent except for homeschooled kids and those who attended private, Christian, Jewish, or parochial schools. My advice to her is to seek out someone educated outside of the public schools and ask them to proofread her work specifically for such errors. She will have much better success in fixing errors before the books go to print if she can find a decent proofreader.
This was a lovely collection of short stories. Most ending right around the first kiss or confirmed declarations of love. I enjoyed getting to know some of the Amish traditions and customs. Several stories were lightly continued as part of collections, which gave a bit more closure to the plots. There are dynamic varieties of plots and well developed characters. Many I felt ended too soon, leaving me craving more information on the couple and how they faired after their courtship. One in particular needed significant follow through in order to know if the girl survived medical treatment, but that was only one out of 33 stories that left me disappointed, her story was touched on in another book, but it did not give any elaborations. Over all I was well pleased with the set and will happily read more from this author.
This was a wonderful collection of Amish stories, most under 100 pages each. It included several different collections that involved the same characters and places. The one thing I found very frustrating was the poor editing. Not so much punctuation and grammar, but frequent mistakes in the use of names, places and such were very distracting. These were not mistakes made by a word processing program, just poor cross checking by whoever typed up these books for Kindle. I still recommend this collection of stories. They spoke strongly of the Amish beliefs and absolute trust that God has everything under His control. Frequent reminders to turn our hearts concerns over to Him and trust in His guidance.
There were many mistakes in this boxed set. Some were the uses of tense, some were the use of your when it should have been you're. The others problem was that I was hoping for books. Instead, I read a number of "stories" that ended too fast with just a few paragraphs to tie the story up. I think the biggest error was the ending of sentences without a space between a period and the next sentence. I enjoy Amish stories because they are clearly fun and usually have really good messages to impart. I enjoy understanding how the characters interact and how they resolve their differences. You are on the right track. I enjoy your story telling, but don't stop the story before it is done.
There were several flaws in this set . f First one I noticed was the Amish !an who went to Viet Nam . he talked about having a cell phone and texting his buddy. Cell phones were not out in 73 or texting. Then it said Lawrence county was close to Walnut Creek but its not it towards southern Ohio. Then in one book it told if a young gurl at the bakery breaking her wrist then a few books later it said ankle. I don't know who does your proof reading but they need to Catch these things. I have followed alot of Amish authors and know alot about the faith. I dud enjoy these books very much.
Short stories but enjoyable. The only complaint I,can make is because they are short stories, the reader is left with what feels like an unfinished tale. There were stories, in this collection, that had main characters that ,I for one, wanted more to their lives. Some ending were too abrupt and when I thought there was another chapter, instead was another story. It is a good author who can write characters that a reader cares about. Emma Cartwright is one.
I really enjoyed these stories. The characters are wonderful to get to know. The boxed set read well from story to story, getting to watch romance bloom for each character. There are many typos that are a distraction. Without those I would give 5 stars. A great read you can share with your whole family.
I liked the stories that were written in the beginning, and then the ones toward the end started to become rushed and ended without preamble. It was almost like the romance became fast and decided without being able to get to know the characters at all. All in all, well-written, but I'm disappointed honestly with the vast majority of the books within.
The book is brilliant story again and I love reading from start to finish books no 33. I love reading about between ladies and English men. Thanks for the wonderful writing this books.
A delightful group of wholesome stories of the wonderful people of the Amish communities. Stories of their lives, their hopes, their heartache, their dreams and stories of the faith. Uplifting and heartwarming to read.
Read each book in a single setting and couldn’t wait to start the next. Each of the books were similar but enough difference to keep my interest. Love the Amish trust in God
I enjoyed the books but didn’t like them being cut off after a few chapters 4-7. The thing that I disliked the most is the typographical errors and mistakes that occurred entirely too frequently for me. The books do not appear to have been edited.
This is a great collection of stories I just couldn't stop reading them. I enjoyed everyone in them. I am very happy that I choose to buy them. I can't wait to read more from this author.
This box set was so good, beyond good! Amazing…it had me in tears, laughter and tugged at the heart strings so many times. I love when box sets are lengthy. Each story was well written and I will be reading it again in the future. I would give it ten stars….so deserving.
This is a great read that I enjoyed reading. All the stories in it are precious and they have a depth to them. I will be looking for more stories like these.
