Knight’s Redemption is book one of a brand new series, Knights of Hell, by Sherilee Gray. I have, since the beginning, expressed my love of all things by this author. So when she says she is starting a new series, I’m on the edge of my seat waiting for it. And wow, was this worth the wait. I love that Sherilee has gone back to paranormal romance. This is where she started, the first books I read by her. Talk about starting out with a bang, the prologue of this book took my breath away.
Eve Taylor lives by herself and spends her days running her own little book store. It’s the thing she loves most. She has accepted her life of solitude. But lately, there has been changes she can’t explain. She thought she was going crazy. She started hearing voices until she realized it was the thoughts of the people around her. She could hear what they were thinking and she had no idea why or how to shut it off.
Lazarus is one of six Knights of Hell. They were created specifically to keep evil off the streets of New York. They were half demon, half angel. They spend their entire existence fighting to keep their demon side under control until they meet their fated mate. Lazarus has something in his past that changed him, that turned his heart cold. So when he senses his mate, it’s the last thing he wants. He doesn’t deserve a mate, he can’t feel for her as he should. Part of his job, though, is that when a demi-demon comes into their power, a half human, half demon, he needs to bring them to his compound and help them to control their powers so they will be safe. His call to this demi-demon can’t be denied. Not only is she powerful and needs his help, she is his mate.

Eve accepts this world she didn’t even know existed surprisingly well. She can’t deny the attraction she feels to Lazarus but he doesn’t seem to feel the same way. On the contrary, he seems repulsed by her, only feeling obligated to help her.
At the same time as Eve and Lazarus are trying to deal with things, there is something in Lazarus’s past that wants revenge. And how better to exact that revenge than to take something that has become important to him! His mate!
What a great start into this series. I loved Eve. She was strong, loving and forgiving. She was perfect for Lazarus. I have to admit, though, that Lazarus, sexy, alpha male that he was, did frustrate me. I didn’t like his continual denial to accept Eve because it was hurting her so deeply. Neither of these two really understood how the other was feeling. These Knights of Hell are fighting the darkest of creatures, trying to protect the humans of New York. But there is more going on here than even they understand. I am sure more of this war against evil will unfold in the future books of this series but Eve and Lazarus’s story does have an ending. I can’t wait to see where Sherilee takes this series next. I have a hope as to which character the next book focuses on but we’ll have to wait to see who she has chosen.

First I gotta say that I'm easily influenced by a book cover and I can't help but mention when I find one I love. I think the author did a fantastic job of creating a cover that would entice people to take a closer look. After reading the book, it also accurately tells you in one picture what you are getting.
The Knights of Hell is a unique take on a story about angels and demons. They're not one or the other, but both races combined. They are a group that were intentionally created to be able to track demi-demons to protect them against being used by demons.
Lazarus is one of the Knights of Hell. He believes he is the reason one of his brothers loses his mate. Seeing what it did to him, as well as the effects it had on the rest of the Knights of Hell, he doesn't believe he deserves a mate of his own.
Eve has led a very solitary life. For reasons unknown to her, no one wants to get close to her no matter how much she tries to befriend others. When things start to take a very strange turn, a man shows up that is about to change everything.
What I love about this book and the series it is based around is the unique take on a very, fascinating subject of angels and demons. I'm always looking for books that can bring something new to a very old tale. I think Sherilee Gray has accomplished this. I've not read anything like this group of Knights of Hell and the reasons for their existence.
I'm also a bit of an insta-love fan and the mate recognition always appeals to me. I like when a man meets a woman and just knows she is the one for him. There is no doubt that these half angel/half demons know when they meet their mates. But, just because their is an instant connection, that doesn't mean it's all sunshine and flowers in the beginning.
While I prefer less resistance, the readers who like to see that relationship struggle will get that in Knight's Redemption. Lazarus has seen what can happen when a mate is lost. The last thing he wants is a mate of his own. Because of this, we get to see this couple work together while trying to resist something that should come natural. This struggle really amps up the heat factor in this story.
I'm looking forward to what's next in the series. We got introduced to a lot of characters with different personalities. I think we will get a nice mix to this series. ARC provided by author.

4 - "Turns out I have a magic vagina!" Stars!
Is there no end to the talents of Sherilee Gray I find myself asking, because after finishing Knights Redemption it’s clear that she can nail the PNR genre as well, and with bells on.
He was the only one who could keep her safe… This man, demon, whatever he was…
I will be honest and say that there is a lot of information given and a large number of character introductions in the first book of the Knights of Hell series and at points I reached information overload levels, but it wasn’t difficult to keep up with the story playing out between Lazarus and Eve, and I figure I will be getting more closely acquainted with the rest of the Knights as future books are released.
"Every part of me craves every part of you…"
Plenty of story to get your teeth into for sure, and I loved the relationship that built between him and Eve as everything else was unfolding. Both of them could do with communicating with the other a little more, but it was the vulnerability and unworthiness Laz felt, especially when it came to being open and honest about his feelings for Eve and deserving her as his mate due to issues from his past and getting over them, was what really kept me engaged.
"You don’t get to bail on me… I won’t let you."
The author has a way of putting a tortured hero down on the page that you can’t help but fall a little bit in love with him yourself, and I have a feeling there will be plenty more of them in the coming books for me to willingly hand pieces of my heart over too as well.
"I’m not going anywhere…"
No too long to wait either with book two; Knights Salvation due next month.

Knight's Redemption (Knights of Hell, #1) was an explosive start to a really imaginative new paranormal series.
Always a risk trying on a new author for size in this instance that chance paid off and I will definitely be continuing on with this addictive story.
The basic premise here is that we have Knights of hell: part Angel part Demon: protecting humankind from these instruments of evil: whilst at the same time fighting their own inner demon to stop themselves from succumbing to there dark side.
These knights have one true mate out there in the world: one special woman who can halt the darkness and stop it encroaching: the light to there dark if you will.
Eve is this for Lazarus and despite his rapidly progressing Demon-side, he doesn't feel he personally deserves or even wants a mate.
Lazarus's past has a huge hold on his present frame of mind: but he needs Eve and also has a job to protect her as she is a demi-demon whose newly emerging powers are like a beacon to the wrong kind as well as her potential new mate.
So this was such an easy read managing to capture my interest very easily indeed.
Told from dual POV ( which is my favourite ) this was a fascinating view take on the Demons and Angels angle.
Being the first in a new series this tantalized rather than bombarded the reader with new information: cleverly setting the stage whilst still withholding a lot of the pieces I will be extremely interested to see where this tale is ultimately heading: no matter I'm fully onboard and invested now.
My one criticism here was I wasn't a big fan of the making assumptions angle.
What I mean is deciding what someone is thinking or mind reading without giving the other a chance to actually say:
Making decisions by yourself is frankly insulting to the other's intelligence.
Both Eve and Lazarus are both guilty of this particular transgression and the back and forth pull because of this was bloody exhausting and extremely infuriating indeed.
but besides this the rest here was fabulous for me: This had just the right balance of action versus romance for me.
I for one will be watching closely to see where The Knights Of Hell is heading.
This one definitely gets a thumbs up from my corner.

3 underwhelming stars.
While engaging and steamy, this just didnt meet its full potential. I really thought this would break the mold of scary hero saves damsel in distress heroine, but it didnt even try.
Let me break it down for you:
-Heroine discovers she has super powers and hero comes in to save her
-Hero knows right away that heroine is his destined mate
-chooses not to mate with her, but can still have sex with her, because he doesnt know how to love
-hero makes choices for the heroine for the sake of her feelings
-heroine gets captured by bad guy
-hero saves heroine
-Hero: "Now that you've almost been raped and abused I realize ive been in love with you the entire time! Silly me." Heroine: "Even though you've pushed me away 90% of the book and made me believe you only want me out of convince, I realize I love you too!"
-The end.
The chemistry was there, but the "I love you"s felt extremely manufactured considering the hero continuously leaves the heroine alone for most of the book.
Safe I guess.

No OW/OM drama or other people after meeting
Hero isnt a manwhore and heroine isnt a virgin
Threat of rape/abuse to the heroine

Wow! This book was freaking amazing! I loved the different layers that blocked this couple from immediately finding their happy ever after. There is so much here that I’m completely in awe as to what was going through this author’s mind as she planned and plotted not only this book but the series. I suspect we’re going to be in for one heck of a ride if this story is any indication.
I love “mated” paranormal romances and Lazarus is a perfect example of why. From the first moment he senses Eve he is constantly moving forward. However, there are various reasons why he can’t completely claim her and he is agonized over what is before him and what he knows he cannot have. Despite that, he is wildly protective of her.
Eve is suddenly thrust into a world she didn’t even know existed and along with it is Lazarus, a demon hunter whose pull on her is like none she’s experienced before. She has her own insecurities but when it comes down to it, she is strong enough to do what needs to be done in order to pull her intended mate from the edge.
The heat between these two was scorching. From the first scene together they lit up the page and their chemistry only strengthened the more they were together. There was a bit of push and pull from Lazarus but I understood why he struggled and again, there were all those layers to deal with. The villain here was quite interesting in that I actually felt bad for him even while I knew he had to be dealt with. I wasn’t sure where the story was going to take us regarding his demise and I actually wanted to see him pulled back from the abyss that had claimed him.
This story introduces us to all the Knights as well as an additional group that I hope we will get to read about in the future. Definitely we’ll be seeing Lazarus’ brothers and even having just finished this story, I’m already antsy to read the next one. I highly recommend this book if you enjoy the mating trope along with strong alpha heroes who are ingrained to protective their heroines.

Yea...found me a new author and what promises to be a really good PNR series of half Angel/Demon heros.
This is the first book and I read the entire book in one sitting.A fast paced read filled with sizzling sexual tension ...enjoyable read and a Very Big Thanks to fellow Goodreader friend Carol with her great review that lead me to this author and book!!

Things I liked about this book:
1) The cover is gorgeous! This and the intriguing blurb is what made me pick up this book.
2) I love the whole different take on angels and demons. This world and it’s setting is new and interesting.
Things I didn’t like:
1) The mental back-and-forth by both MC’s exhausted me. So frustrating, imo. They only talked things through when I got to the 75% mark. Oy.
2) Too much sex scenes. I found myself skimming through all the banging bec that’s all it was — sex to soothe the demon. And I’m not even kidding.
3) Not enough action. The prologue was fantastic and gripping. But then, Chapter 1 to Chapter 22 was meh (all those sex scenes and internal dialogue). Things only picked up, at least for me, from Ch23 — which is 85% of the way through already. (This book has 26 chapters, fyi.)
I wanted more kickass fights and displays of power. She has telepathic powers but we don’t really see her do anything with them. He is a warrior with swords and cool powers but we only get a little taste of what he can do.
Honestly, I don’t know if I’ll pick up book 2 esp if it’ll go the same way as this one —- that is to say that sexy time scenes will end up taking majority of the “reading space”.

Lazarus had a lot of guilt to work through, and unfortunately for Eve (and the reader), it often led to him pushing her away. I started to feel really bad for Eve when he continuously rejected her advances or froze her out after they shared intimate moments. Her self-esteem was already low, and I have no idea how it didn’t take a brutal beating.
I resented how much Lazarus kept from Eve, even if I understood why. This novel definitely could’ve shortened some if he communicated with her. I loved how big Eve’s heart was and how kind she was, even when she didn’t need to be.
I’ve already read the spin-off series, and I enjoyed those, so for me, this book was a fun addition to a universe I love. As an introduction, it was definitely approachable.
Overall, I enjoyed it. I love the world Sherilee Grey created, and if it all started here, then I owe this book a lot of admiration.

I’ve already read the spin-off series, and I enjoyed those, so for me, this book was a fun addition to a universe I love. As an introduction, it was definitely approachable.
Overall, I enjoyed it. I love the world Sherilee Grey created, and if it all started here, then I owe this book a lot of admiration.

Knight's Redemption was a solid start to a new paranormal series by Sherilee Gray. I loved the chemistry between Lazarus and Eve. The story was sexy, had amazing world building and a great cast of extended characters.
When Eve Taylor realizes that she is a part of a world she never knew, and has powers she has no idea what to do with, she looks to demon-hunter Lazarus, for protection, guidance and sanctuary. But when she feels an immense attraction for this broody and mysterious man, she could never have expected to play such a role in the fate of humanity.
I enjoyed this story a lot and was caught up in the passion and tension between Lazarus and Eve. However, I could not help but be frustrated by the constant back and forth between both of the main characters and Lazarus' hesitation to get more emotionally involved. It made my head spin at times. All in all though, i loved the fiery chemistry between them and how broody and alpha lazarus was. I seriously can't wait for more as this is an amazing start to a new series! 4 stars! ~Ratula

Knights Redemption brings us Lazarus and Eve’s story. We only met Laz briefly in the prequel, so you shouldn’t feel lost if you skipped it. In fact, other than Kyros and Meredith already being mated… I can’t see what the point of the prequel was.
The book opens with (prologue so this shouldn’t be much of a spoiler) Laz taking his sort of adopted daughter (Scarlet) on a retrieval with him where she’s killed by a demon. This causes his fellow Knight (and Scar’s mate) Tobias to kinda go rogue/letting his demon have control (it’s not really explained), and he becomes the baddie. He/Tobias (also not explained) somehow is making the other’s demons unstable. **I’ll try to be vague, but the rest will have some plot outline/relationship spoilers.
Laz realizes Eve is his mate within the first chapter, so the majority of the book is him pushing her away because he doesn’t think he’s good enough for her… he’s too broken… she deserves better… his guilt is killing him… he doesn’t know how to love… etc. etc. etc.
My biggest issue (other than the tedious go away/come here/go away that went on FOREVER) was that his choices didn’t make any sense. They were inconsistent and full of holes. In the beginning Chaos (their leader) was pushing for the mating to somehow break Tobias link with them. I’m not sure how that would work, but after several chapters that subplot just goes away. Later, (trying to be vague) Eve has something that puts her in GREAT danger and can basically destroy the world, but mating would negate it… but for some dumb reason Laz decides her wearing a necklace to sort of hide it is the smarter choice… cuz no one can just rip the damn thing off. 🙄 So basically, he jeopardizes his brothers, his mate, and the world because… why again? It made ZERO sense.
Bottom Line- I found it boring. I need action, mystery, passion, romance… something to keep me interested in reading for 300+ pages… and this didn’t cut it. He pushes her away most of the book, and there’s very little angst from it. I love a tortured soul but have little patience for the H beating himself up for something that wasn’t even his fault. It blows my mind that authors constantly write this type of hero, but then have the betraying/cheating assholes have little to no guilt. I could get behind them having this level of self-loathing, but it didn’t work for me here.

Knight's Redemption is the beginning of an awesome series. It has many elements that I love, possessive hero with a tortured past who finds his mate but doesn't think he's good enough and all the internal struggles it brings. I also loved the author's spin on angels and demons and all that goes along with it. However there were things that annoyed me but I don't want to say too much because I don't want to spoil it for others, what i will say is it has to do with the hero and struggles. I enjoyed the book and look forward to the next in the series.

Fairly typical! You have a woe me hero, ooh I am so tortured see my man pain, I can't have my mate but can screw her. Then you have the poor always rejected heroine. Overall this was entertaining enough for a few hours but forgettable.

The structure of the plot didn't quite work for me. The hero unnecessarily parceled out information to the heroine a little at a time. He would share a little, and then get drawn away on some urgent matter. Then the next day, he'd parcel out a little more, and get drawn away. This pattern repeated itself, and it felt like an unnatural device to create conflict. Definitely an example of the conflict being solvable through a frank conversation. It also seemed odd that the hero was convinced that being with the heroine would bring some harm, when not being with her would create exponentially more hurt to everyone, including the heroine. Didn't make sense. I would have liked more character development in place of the unnecessary conflict.

Lazarus made a mistake, an accident really that cost his friend his mate and now Tobias is out for revenge. Tobias let his demon half take over and is out for revenge against Lazarus so finding his mate is the last thing he wants to do but that's exactly what happens.
Eve can hear people's thoughts so when her powers showed up and Lazarus shows up to make sure she's safe, all hell breaks loose when a demon goes for her and tries to take her. Lazarus realizes that Eve is his mate and has to keep her safe. So he kills the demon and talks her into coming with him.
Eve isn't sure Lazarus is the good guy even though he saved her but all kinds of weird things are happening and she knows she'd never be able to fight these demons who want to kidnap her by herself so she gives Lazarus a chance. So when he brings her back to where he and his brothers live, some with their mates, it's not long before Eve starts to feel safe around them.
But Lazarus is fighting an attraction for her even though she's his mate and she can make him stronger if he tells her and she agree's to mate him so he can fight Tobias. But he doesn't think he's good enough for her so for a while he is able to keep his distance until some secrets are revealed and things don't go as planned.
I really liked getting to know Lazarus and his brothers and even though I would hope that Tobias comes to his senses and comes back to them, I just don't see that happening which is sad.
This book has a lot of action but it also has a lot of angst which slowed down the romance but I kinda liked that about this. They are attracted to each other but they don't get together right away and I liked getting to know both of them. The ending was so good that I'm looking forward to reading the next book in this series now. I would have loved this cover if they hadn't cut his face off.

This was an interesting beginning to a new paranormal series. A different take on angels and demons, mixed with sexy characters and tons of heat.
I am a sucker for a good paranormal romance and even though I have never read this author before I was intrigued by the blurb. I wasn't quite sure what to expect but right away I knew I was going to enjoy this one. We start off with a bang and end with a bit of the unresolved.
Lazarus is one of the many knights who are half demon, half angel tasked with protecting mankind. He has been around long enough to know the feeling that comes over him one random evening is not something he wants to happen. And he will do everything in his power to make it go away without taking on a mate.
Eve is just bookstore owner with a persistent ex and then all of a sudden strange things begin to happen to her. She can't explain them but enter a beautiful beast of a man and her simple life just got a whole lot more complicated.
This book is not only Lazarus and Eve's story but also it sets the stage for this new series. Therefore, we meet a bunch of characters and learn a lot of information. We learn about the knights and what they have to do day in and day out. We learn about the mating process and also get a taste of the surrounding area in which the knight live. It was a super interesting concept and there seems to be an overall concept that will continue into the next book. There are problems unresolved and a threat that has not been taken care of that I am really excited to see play out over however many books this series is going to be. This was a paranormal with an MC feel and I definitely dug it. I am really glad that I took the chance on something new so I can experience the series as it roles out.

This is my first read of this author and I picked up the title because the synopsis was interesting. This is the first in a new series called Knights of Hell. The Knights were created to protect humans from the creatures crawling out of Hell. We meet our two leads right away and there is definite chemistry between them, although Eve is not sure what is going on.
Honestly, it took me quite a few chapters to figure out the story. I love paranormal and this obviously was a new world for me. But I felt like I was dropped into a second or third book and needed to catch up to what was going on after not having read the previous story. Plow through all that because once the world building gels, the action becomes much more exciting.
Loved the slow burn between Eve and Lazarus. Loved that Lazarus was trying to give her time to adjust to the new normal. Super steamy once they finally get together. And I am really intrigued by the half demon half angel twist. Great descriptions of all the Knights. Looks like the story line will continue into the next books. A bit of suspense and lots of action. Looking forward to more!

Two Stars for I liked it, only because I finished the read. The storyline gave me enough interest that I waited patiently for the "Mating". All that wild sex and no mating, so I waited. I've never been so disappointed. It was the most anticlimactic mating I've ever read.

4.5 demon stars. I love Eve and Lazarus was great, but a bit too broody. I kept mentally yelling at him to communicate for most of the book but it was a good solid read. Ready for the next!

DNF at 77% that is 22 of 26 Chapters, and I'm dnfing this due to getting more and more frustrated and annoyed with it.
To start with, I know I am new to diving into the world of Romance books, but I feel like its not wrong for me to want more for the overall storytelling. This had no plot, the world building was mediocre and the character building was non-existent.
Lazarus and Eve had ZERO chemistry, and this is due to the fact that for 50% of this book they pretty much do not talk to each other. Sure they end up in the same room numerous times but they spend 90% of that time internally monologueing about the other. Lazarus being like "oh I don't deserve her because of my past" and Eve being like "oh he is so big and scary I don't want to make him angry".
Eve is a doormat, and I'm not sorry for saying that, she has no backbone at all and the 2 times she tries it just fails to come across as strong. She literally spends majority of this book telling herself how big and scary Lazarus is and how she doesn't want to upset him. She also spends the entire book being locked in a room, and not taking part in any of the overall story. She doesn't go and help fight she has two training sessions that last like a few paragraphs each. Lets also not forget how she spends a few chapters being knocked out, that takes the story another 10 chapters to explain why (her injury still makes no sense at all). She is absolutely pointless in the story until 60% in and her use then dwindles down to being something Lazarus can have sex with to control his inner demon. She serves no purpose other than being a sexual object and that's just sad.
Lazarus on the other hand is absolutely annoying, he constantly drones on about how he doesn't deserve a mate because of his tragic past with causing his brother to lose his mate. Just pages and pages of the same inner monologue being repeated endlessly over and over and over again. A good chunk of this book could have been edited out due to the constant repeating of the same information being given. Other than that he has no personality.
What about the action? That's non-existent as well. EVERYTIME I thought we where going to get see Lazarus in action and do some fighting, it didn't happen, instead we got moments like "oh no we couldn't find them guess i'll go home and work out now" or " ah we fought them and won" proceeds to not show us any of said action. I think the most we got was seeing him kick someone in the chest and one of the brothers throwing an axe at a demon. There is so much lore put on them being these amazing fighters who take out demons, but we never get to see it, at one point they come upon 2 demons only for these demons to kill themselves, like really??!?!?! So unsatisfying.
Plot, I don't know what that is, because the only plot that existed in this was trying to get the couple to get to the sex parts, and that just doesn't do anything for me. Its like Gray was trying to add an overarching story that would be the center of how they come together, but it didn't work. We get haphazard attempts at building a plot with one of the brothers having fallen to his inner demon and going after the others to destroy their lives, but most of it takes place off page, or its a quick 2 page conversation and then its right back to Lazarus and Eve fighting their mate pull to each other. It would have been really nice to actually see the potential war actually coming to fruition but it didn't. Also some of the brothers started losing their minds and kept trying to kill Eve, this piece of the plot goes no where and I don't understand why it even happened.
Now one of my biggest issues (aside from everything I have stated) what is the obsession with the words FEMALE and MALE. I don't know how many times I was pulled out of this story because Lazarus kept referring to Eve as Female, we couldn't use Woman??? I'm going to give an example of a passage that pissed me off so bad.
REALLY!!! She gets to call him "Her Warrior" and she in return gets to be called "his FEMALE" like Gray couldn't have had her called "his LIGHT" since he is always going on about how she stops him from succumbing to his inner demon. Gray could have used anything, but she went with this, and I literally set my kindle down and walked away, if I was reading a physical version I would have thrown it out of anger, but I didn't want to break my kindle.

I used my handy search feature in the kindle and the word FEMALE is used 73 times, and Male is used 57 times. Apparently using words like Woman, man, men, women was just not in the plan for this. And I'm sorry but the over use of Female and Male was just a serious mood killer. There is a time and place to use them and majority of the time they where used in this was just wrong ( in my opinion)

Tortured badass, part demon, part angel, Lazarus. Lonely, downtrodden, simple Eve. Every Knight is supposed to have his mate...which helps leash their inner demon. A few weeks of badass refusing to mate due to self-blame over historical tragedy; Eve, spineless (but curvy, so her ass and tits make up for her lack of personality), pities herself; both characters have a litany of internal dialogue about how badly they want one another, but are convinced their feelings aren't reciprocated, so just waffle in their own miserable circumstances. But, of course, they suddenly have sex and magically love one another. Throw in a tablespoon of danger to Eve, and voila! Everything is resolved.
Easy read. Great if you're looking for simple escapism, but a horrible choice if you're looking to stimulate more creative, thoughtful areas of your brain. A cookie-cutter PNR. I suspect each knight will experience the same theme: learn about, find, resist, give-in to their mates in all the next series installments, with little variation to plot. I did not enjoy this book.
A lot of repetition about the same thing. The first half of the book was the same unresolved conflict that continued to the second half of the book. It started to feel like I was reading the same chapter over and over again, just worded differently.

It felt like the main characters were really dumb. Had no persona at all.
