Susan Hyatt is a Life Coach. She has a website promoting her services, one of which is the Bare 7-week telecourse. It costs nearly $3000. Susan (justifiably) doesn’t like the dieting industry and the way they make money out of women’s desperation to lose weight. She has been accused of making money out of the same cohort…

A good reading
I thought it was going to be a self-care book and a guide to loss weight and it's a lot more, it's a journey through the writer's story, one you can take with her. It's NOT a diet book, it's about listen and understand your body and its needs, always with common sense. Think healthy, LOVE YOURSELF, eat healthy and you can enjoy life (plus, you'll lose weight and never see it again). Of course there ...more

Susan Hyatt gets 5 stars for a fantastic guide book into living an authentic life...
Yes, I've read my fair share of self-help books but it's the one's I constantly refer back to and the ones I never forget that have the greatest impact on my life, Bare is one of those books. I've read it and yes it has a lot of stuff I already read before but never truly implemented, I'm guessing it a combination of picking up the right book at the right time and Susan's writing style it really spoke to me.

I have read a lot of inspiring novels and weight loss, better you books in my career but this one I feel is extra personal because of Susan incorporating her personal experiences and struggles that made me feel as the reader not alone and part of a conversation as if we were meeting for lunch or coffee. This was a quick read but didn't say too much new for me. Her 7-week program looks at 7 different aspects of your life to change and then to concentrate on each one for a week. I found that I already do many of these already so I ended up skimming through those chapters.
Week 1 - clean up your environment. I am one who finds I do my best work in an organized room, whether it's my personal living space or work environment, it needs to be organized and clean of any clutter to do my best. So check, ...more

Let me premise that I've always been one to be against self-help books (sorry, not sure why I am so against them), but decided to pick this one up. I absolutely loved it and found it very helpful and insightful. This book will help you love yourself and overcome any hangups you may have about yourself.

This book presents the BARE program, divided in 7 parts or weeks.
The author does not believe in drastic diets but in intuitive and mindful eating, putting self-care and self-esteem first.
The main points of this program are presented via the author’s own experience and via her clients’ anecdotes.
While I enjoyed the style of the writing and personally agreed with most of the techniques, the notions were not new to me,having read several self-help and mindfulness books. I was probably expecting innova ...more

I don't know how I got the Audio version of this but figured its short so why not. Obviously I did not read this in 7 weeks and do all the tasks but I still think this had some good information. Worth the read but I did not enjoy the narration, which was done by the author.

I don't read too many self-help books, but I'm glad I did pick up this one. I appreciate Hyatt's approach to self-improvement mostly because some of the ideas she express are things that I've either thought of myself or have heard from other women. For example, at one point Hyatt states that many of us may find ourselves overeating because food is the only thing in our lives we associate with pleasure. I've had a friend who has basically said those exact words to me about herself, so I feel like

tl:dr: You have hang-ups, so did Hyatt. She can tell you how she changed.
I am a book-cover judger, usually. I pick up books to read based on aesthetics. I read this one for the cover. But, I'm glad that I did. The book deals with how one woman learned to like herself, itself a transgressive act. Much of this book deals with weight and health. The author, rightly I believe, suggests all our outside manifestations of inaction and second-guessing come from internal ch ...more

Feeling good and getting healthy goes hand in hand but most books focused on the better you, they only cover one topic, usually… and if they reveal more it can be hard to digest. That is not the case with Bare. I was pleasantly surprised and all the little, uplifting, inspirational gems hidden within the covers.

The knowledge Susan Hyatt has to offer is not only applicable to eating and exercise but how you life your life in general.
Her guiding principle is loving yourself. When you go to do something ask yourself, "does this feel like love?" Whether its picking a tv show to watch, a new duvet cover, what you're going to eat for dinner, clothes you might be considering discarding.
She also emphasizes creating a space that feels uniquely you, and a space that makes you feel like your best self. She give ...more

I loved this book. I wasn't sure how to read it since it's a 7-week program. At first I thought I'd read a chapter a week, but that did not work for me. I started slow, doing the assignments weekly, and then got impatient and read through the whole book (and then read it again). I think the way it goes is that readers will each have their challenging chapters/weeks. The tidying week was easy-peasy since I already hit Marie Kondo like a mad woman this summer. But the bringing pleasure and asking

Content: The book talks about the 7 week BARE process by Susan Hyatt. Instead of believing in meal plans and a structured (read restrictive) diet, Hyatt believes in mindful eating and taking care of your environment. The approach is definitely not new but presented well by Hyatt.
Writing: The book reads well and doesn't lag anywhere. The writing is conversational and easy to go through.

I love Susan so much. I am proud to call her a client of mine and also a friend and amazingly gifted coach.
I went to Susan's BARE book launch event in NYC. So much fun!!
I then read the book 3 times in a row and worked through it with my mom and my sister.
It was truly powerful - especially because I was reading it at the end of my pregnancy and postpartum with my daughter. I was having tiny body confidence issues, mostly because I felt gigantic (and had someone ask me 'how many babies I had in th ...more

I've come to realize that I really enjoy listening to self help/self empowering books while at work. And now that I'm utilizing my library card, I won't feel bad about wasting money on them, in case I end up hating them haha. This was good! I think all books in this genre come with a minimum amount of cringe, and this one reflects that. But it was tolerable. The author is a life coach and some of this is geared towards a her "program", which is super expensive, but I did take a lot of good advic

Bare was incredible, informative, and reading it, it felt like talking to a well-meaning friend.
Bare was honest and to the point, complete with exercise and notes to be filled later.
One minus point in my opinion, however, was that Susan did not include some tips for when the reader fall off the track. I mean, that happened, right?
But overall, it was a satisfying read and it already formed a 'what feels like love now?' in me.

I really like this book. It is short, to the point, and blunt about how to improve your situation whether it be weight loss or other aspects of your life. The primary focus is overall wellness. I have always believed that it is essential to take care of yourself first or you won’t have the energy to take care of anyone else. I found the food scale very helpful and I like the 7 week approach to making necessary changes but that it doesn’t end there. I hope I can follow that timeline and stay on t

This book was amazing. I started it last year and then had a baby and just kind of forgot about it. I picked it back up this week and finished it. Thank you Susan, for being so real and true to your experiences and sharing different ways of how to love yourself and set yourself up for success. I like that the book is broken into weeks, now that I've gone through the book, I'm going to go back to the beginning and go through it week by week as outlined in the book and make every effort to stick w

Stellar. Filled with so many healing insights and an array of wonderfully fresh exercises. While most self-help books follow a tried-and-true path with a sprinkling of Inspiring, new suggestions, BARE is dripping with unique treasures. I originally wasn’t thrilled with the anecdotes, but upon reflection that marinates the ideas here, I found them to add to the strength of messaging. This is the kind of book that delivers more and more wisdom with each return to read it again.

Really good book!! A game-changer when it comes to getting to learn how to love yourself right now and leaving you some space to grow and change. Although this book speaks to weight loss, I think it's most valuable discussions are about self-worth and tuning into ourselves. Susan Hyatt makes me want to really live my life and ask tough question about what actually brings me pleasure and what a good life means to me!

Thank you Susan Hyatt for giving women permission to love ourselves and our bodies in spite of what societal tells us. So refreshing to throw out food journaling, restricting and trying to exercise ourselves skinny in exchange for more ease, acceptance and pleasure in our lives. This book is one more step in the right direction of body acceptance and the needed disconnection of our weight and our worth. Bravo!

Finished this book today in the perfect location! What a terrific read! I felt I was reading about the way I live but have never been able to put it into words. You gave me a few new things to think about and work on! I’m passing your book onto women I think NEED to read it. BARE is the way every woman should live life and I hope all women read it and learn to love themselves!!

While not saying anything I didn't already know (while recognizing I have already done a lot of reading in this area) I like how easy it is to read and how simple the action steps. This feels like a commitment I can keep to myself. Certainly recommend to anyone who wants to treat their body better or be bolder in the world.

I bought this book because I’ve struggled with body image issues my whole life. I loved Susan’s approach to bring my pleasure in your life and decluttering everything! I feel so energized and even though it’s a daily practice I’m not focusing on a number on the scale but more in how I feel in life! Which is awesome!

I hate giving books such a low rating but I just did not love this. Too much talk about wearing bikinis, clothes and materialistic things. I did think her concepts were good but her backing for them just wasn’t for me. And the constant talk about how people give her a hard time on social media clouded her message. I almost felt like she wanted people to feel sorry for her...I don’t know.

Great Book! I loved how she made weightloss a whole mind, body, and spiritual process. I got to understand how many things can effect my interaction with food and that I was in more control that I realized. I truly recommend this book for women who what to change their actions and desires when it comes to food. It's a fun, relatable, and easy to understand book.
