Xavier Knight was starting his life over. A new city. A new club. The past was gone, and he had everything to look forward to… except… love. That ship had sailed, never to return. He was too old to play the games or stack up the one night stands. Until, an old enemy’s son walked into his club and his heart.

Sebastian Brady was through. Through with hiding who he was. Throu

This is quite short but pretty full of detail and is a really nice May to December romance between an older guy who's looking to start over with his new club and a cop who's sick of the homophobia he encounters from his family and his fellow officers.

There's not much angst, it's medium steam but both Xavier and Seb were nicely drawn characters and their on page chemistry came across well. There's also a whole host of other fascinating secondary characters in and around the club which will make u

As a start for a series I think this was a nice read. There is a lot we get to know.
We meet all the side character but only briefly.

Xavier takes over the gay club from his friend, it's a whole new beginning.
Seb resigned as a cop with no grievances at all, finally he can breathe freely... a whole new beginning.

When Seb starts his new job at Xavier’s club he couldn’t have guessed his homophobic and bigoted family issues would be give him a huge problem... but they do!

The concept is good, a gay ba

I liked this novella. The author wrote a story with interesting character and situations. Sebastian and Xavier were both lovable. I felt sorry for Sebastian because of the way he was treated by his fellow cops. It felt very real to me. We’ve all heard that as time goes on, there is more tolerance among the police, but I still feel there is more of this sort of action than reported. Xavier was a little bit of a mystery, but soon, he’s opened like a book, and that

CJ Baty's Starting Over is book one in her Knights Club Series. As with her Warfield Hotel series, it is a good, light-hearted mystery.

This story revolves around Xavier's new club, and his new hire, Sebastian. Both men have backgrounds in previous books, but you can easily get a feeling for them without having read the others.

Sebastian was formerly a cop, but got tired of all the homophobia within his work place. As he starts working for Xavier, who is still reeling from losing his lover two y

Starting Over is book 1 in The Knight Club by CJ Baty and while you don't need to read her Warfield Hotel Mysteries series, a couple of the characters had cameos in this story.

I liked Seb and Xavier, especially Seb. I would've liked to see a bit more of their relationship, but I thought they were really good together and hope we'd get to see them again in the next books in the series. There were a few things that were a bit rushed or were left unanswered, but again, we still have 4 mo

“The Knights Club” is a nice start to a new series with lot’s of potential from CJ Baty. There’s mention of a few characters from “Warfield Hotel Mysteries”: Stoney and Ian, Peter and an appearance from Damien Fitzgerald, who brings great news about his husband Robert Wyler. Xavier and Seb have a nice chemistry even though they’re eighteen years apart. Xavier being fifty has his worries about Seb not wanting to be with an older man. But they make for a sweet and understanding couple. Even though ...more

Starting Over is fast-paced, witty, and entertaining. And for an added bonus, we get a silver fox in a May/December romance. This first book introduces us to some of the characters in The Knights Club series and while there are several, it's not overwhelming. Each character is distinctive and has their own personality. The focus is on Seb and Xavier, and they are adorable together. The angst level is pretty low with most of it coming from Seb's family, and problems are resolved quickly, at least ...more

A great start to a series, I connected with the characters and it wasn't loaded with angst. It was short, but I thoroughly enjoyed this age gap romance.

A Scattered Thoughts and Rogue Words Review An Alisa Review:

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars

I enjoyed this story but at the same time it felt a bit blah to me. Seb has spent his whole life trying to be what his brothers and father thought he should be and he finally breaks free of their expectations to find the happiness he longs for. Xavier had his happy ending ripped away from him and tries hard to resist his pull to Seb but constant interaction and their quick and easy friendship make it hard for him

2,5 heart review by Kat

A new series from a new-to-me author.

This series sounded like it checked off all the things I like in a book:

A older (50ish) Silver Fox main character ✅
Younger man that goes after what he wants ✅
Starting over after love turned bad ✅
Hardened man after being let go for someone half his age ✅
Love over fear ✅
Relocating to escape past love gone wrong ✅

Then you add in homophobic father and brother that are macho police officers but expect their son/brother to follow the fa
