Bree Marks is my best friend... My secret crush…

And—wait for it—cursed with a deadly allergy to erecto-plasm. As in she’ll seriously swell up and die if seminal fluid even touches her. Which means finding the perfect guy to punch her V card is literally a matter of life and death.

She wants a no-strings summer fling, but she needs someone she can trust. A puck buddy who isn’t going to get overly emotional. Someone who’s as savvy in the sack as he is on the ice.

That’s where I come in. It’s a simple request, really—and one I would be happy to honor.
If it weren’t for the whole life-and-death thing.

If I hadn’t just been traded to a team thousands of miles away from this girl who makes me think not all relationships are a losing game.

If I wasn’t already crazy in love with her.

This arrangement is a disaster waiting to happen, but the heart wants what it wants, and mine wants Bree, danger and all.
PUCK BUDDIES is a sexy, standalone romantic comedy from USA Today bestseller Lili Valente.

Friends to lovers with humour and heart…

I’m still smiling long after finishing Bree and Shane’s sweet and steamy friends to lovers story. I laughed so much reading this hilarious spin on taking that scary step from the familiar to something more. And doing it while dealing with Bree’s condition? Well… Every warning you ever received about doing the nasty pales in comparison when sex could actually kill you!

Bree is desperate to find out what all the hype is about and finally rid herself of her V-card. Plus stay alive. She’d really like that too. Not looking for permanent, and riding a liquid-fueled decision, she is going to hit up Shane to help her. And her bestie is very ready to ‘help’!

“…I’m attracted to him, but not in the makes-me-feel-like-I’m-about-to-vomit sort of way.”

The banter sparkled, the heat was intense and the shadow of losing their friendship rode them hard. It was fun and sweet and everything in between as friends weighed in via some of the best text message exchanges I’ve ever read!

This series has been all about love and light, about laughter and a few tears. If you haven’t met these motherpuckers you need to! ~Diane, 5 stars

Puck Buddies really got me thinking and poor Bree is all I have to say. Wow! This book was funny and honest.

Let me start by saying I love Shane. He deserves the man of the year award for the next 10 years at least. First he has this huge crush on Bree. She doesn't feel the same but that doesn't stop him from becoming her best friend and spending pretty much all his free time with her. He fesses up and tells her that this is his last year playing for the Portland Badgers hockey team. He asked for a trade so he could go to a team to really make a name for himself. Immediately Bree panics because she's losing her best friend. And as a result of some drinking decides it's a great idea to ask him to take her V card before he goes. Oh yeah and before you make your decision on that I should probably tell you I have a life threatening allergy to semen and can't come in contact with it at all. Yikes! This is terrible for Bree and heartbreaking really. Also a real allergy (I googled it). But, poor Shane. He's secretly in love with her, leaving her and now has the opportunity to be her first, but it could kill her if they slip up even the tiniest bit.

Of course like the awesome Hockey stud that he is Shane is all in. He researches the best condoms and does a ton of research and is ready to give his girl a first time that she'll never forget. But, then he is expected to just walk away??? Nope! Can't be done!

The friendship and interactions between Shane and Bree are fantastic. They have really good banter and you can almost feel how much they enjoy one another. I loved that they worked the whole romance thing out and got their happy ever after, but honestly I can't imagine having to deal with that the rest of my life. My heart goes out to anyone with an allergy like that.

Love! Love! Love!
Lili Valente, in my opinion, is one of the best contemporary romance authors. Her characters are as lovable as they are sexy and Bree and Shane are no exception.
Bree might just take the cake for the heroine with the most original backstory. Being allergic to sperm has kept Bree from satisfying some of her more basic desires but Shane might just be the man to help her out with that little problem. With only a month before he moves to a new hockey team, Shane wants one chance to prove to Bree that he can be the man for her.

I have a penchant for friends-to-lover and sports romances, and this book had both! So, I thought, why not? I am glad I decided to check this one out, because it was a whole lotta fun.

Wow! The allergy the heroine had was quite serious, and was keeping her from acting on her feelings for her bestie. When she hears he will be leaving town, she decides she wants to enjoy a friends with benefits type arrangement with him, a fromance (friend romance). These two were all sorts of adorable together, and there was no doubt there was way more than friendship and attraction acting between them.

It seems I started with book 6, but now I am going back to start at the beginning of this series, and I can't wait to get to know some of the other players.

**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This book like the other books in the series can be read as a stand alone and is just as brilliant in every way as the previous books. I really don't know how the author manages to crank out so many awesome books.

Bree has an allergy to sperm, only found out when messing around when she was 15, therefore punching her v-card has been kind of a challenge. It is only when she has a few drinks at a friends wedding that she finally asks her friend Shane is he can help her sort the situation out.

Shane has recently found out he is going to another team, so he and Bree only have a month together before he leaves. A small road trip leads to them becoming more than friends with bennies and the pair really do suit each other.

I was routing for this pair from the moment i saw their chemistry when they went to the antiques fair and wanted to see how their lives would change and how they would eventually find their happy ever after.

Shane is a big ol' teddy bear and you can see how seriously he takes the threat to Bree's life and how careful he is. I think i found myself yet another book crush lol.

Really looking forward to seeing who gets a happy ending in the next book in the series.

The friends-to-lovers trope is by far not my favorite, but I loved Shane and Bree together. Two hopeless romantics but still very different people, yet they are meant to be.

I didn't like that Shane had a thing for Bree for quite some time but she kept him strictly in the friend-zone. Or did she? She was scared of him and the feelings he brought out in her, but still, they have been super close and admittedly attracted to each other.
It starts out as getting over her condition and finally ditching her V card. Who could be a better candidate to help her with this little problem than Shane, one of her best friends who also happens to leave town in a month or so?
But almost instantly their friends with bennies plan go right out the van's window, it just opens their eyes that they are already in love with each other. Now, there's only the problem of Shane moving away soon.

I really liked this light-hearted and fun series, highly recommended to fans of sports romance and comedy.

Lili Valente is back with the Bad Motherpuckers series... delivering another sexy, swoony, sweet romance that is going to feeling all the feels and leave a perma smile etched onto your face. Lili can do no wrong when she writes but this series has been just that much more... everything.

Puck Buddies is the sixth in this incredible series, a fun and quirky friends to lovers romance, and I gotta say... it hooked me from that blurb. I mean have you read it LOL (never heard of an allergy to sperm!)... and I couldn't bring myself put this book down, following these two on their journey until the pages stopped turning. Undeniable chemistry. Unforgettable moments.

Lili never fails to bring the sweet heat and great laughs when she writes a book.

I highly recommend this book.

Nope. Not for me.

There’s a certain strain of Quirky heroine and humor that is very common in this sort of book, and it doesn’t work for me at all.

There is also a NLOG, gender dynamic thing going on in a ton of MF sports romances that I don’t like. I can’t quite articulate it, but it’s present here in spades.

For more nitpicky but very annoying complaints — the whole conflict at the end is her being mad he didn’t do something impossible with his contract to stay local, all while acknowledging it was probably impossible but he should have tried anyway (stay with his current team despite having just signed a contract with a new team)? And then in the epilogue he does something impossible with his contract to move back to town and it’s not presented as weird (bailed after 1 year of a 3 year contract with his new team, but the contract didn’t transfer he signed a 6 year contract with a different team)?

Also a big deal is made about how he heroine is a college undergrad and wants to get a PhD so she can be a therapist (which isn’t even the usual training path)? But then during the epilogue that isn’t mentioned at all and she’s just running the hero’s antique shop?

This was my favorite book of the series. I love every minute of Bree and Shane's love story. The friendship to love story was just amazing.

It has to be one of the most effortless love stories of the series. Plus it was super hot leading up to and during the sexy times.

Puck Buddies is the 6th book in Valente’s Bad Motherpuckers series. In the last book Pucked Up Love (a BDSM primer) we met the two protagonists Sabrina or Bree Marks and Shane Wallace. Bree is the younger sister of Pucked Up Loves female lead Hailey and Shane is the young goaltender on the male lead Will’s NHL Hockey team the Portland Badgers. At the end of Pucked Up Love at Hailey and Will’s wedding reception where Bree is her sister’s M.O.H, and Shane is Will’s B.M. (best man not bowel movement) we learn why one of the reasons Bree a former model turned undergrad student hoping eventually to earn a PHD in psychology and bar tender (what she did with all the money she earned modeling is never explained) is still a virgin at twenty-three. She discovered in her first sexual experience at barely 15, that she’s deathly allergic to semen. At her sister’s wedding reception after one too many glasses of wine Bree strengthened by liquid courage approaches Shane who has become a good friend of hers (but she believes not her type), to cash her V-card and have a month long fling with her until he leaves for K.C. where’s he’s signed a 3 year deal with the expansion team in hopes he’ll make a name for himself when not surrounded by the other superstar players as he was on the Badgers. Shane is not her type because she’s always gone for the posers who act like hipsters in their skinny jeans and brooding artists types and Shane is a well muscled jock who doesn't read much, definitely doesn't read poetry, with a generally happy disposition without an ounce of pretentiousness. Despite the fact that when they kiss at the reception it sets her entire body aflame, she continues to cling to that belief. Shane for his part has always had a crush on Bree but he’s had to settle for being stuck in her friend zone because Bree has consistently refused his attempts to be more. So when Bree offers up her V-card to him he immediately agrees to her proposal. But then after talking to her BFF Stephanie knowing Shane had always wanted more than friendship from her, Bree is convinced that if she and Shane go through with her plan she could risk breaking his heart because all she wants is a friends with benefits relationship. So she decides to call it off. At the same time Shane after talking to his goal keeping mentor/guru Tank decides that this being Bree’s first time she could fall in love with him and he's not going to be in town much longer so he too decides to call it off. But when they meet to tell each other they both plan to call it off so they don’t hurt the other, they both insist that the deflowering and month long sexual affair wouldn’t cause them any emotional harm, they decide to move forward with the plan. Shane readily acknowledges to himself that he has more than friends feelings for Bree but they aren’t reciprocated so he accepts it can’t be more than a fling until he relocates. Bree while she’s experiencing all the tingles and butterflies etc. lusting over Shane’s body and appreciating what a great guy he is, keeps telling herself this is all going to be about finally losing her virginity and gaining some sexual experience with someone she likes and trusts before Shane leaves. It’s not difficult for even newbie romance readers to see where this one is going. The only question is how will they resolve the issue that Bree’s life is firmly established in Portland and Shane is contractually obligated to be in K.C. for much of the year so he's leaving Portland in less than a month.
The verbal and texting banter between Bree and Stephanie and Bree and Shane is cute and entertaining for the most part. Although IMHO after a while Bree and Shane’s conversations just seem too cute as if Valente was trying too hard. Bree’s a sweetheart and Shane is a standup guy with a good heart. Stephanie, Yoda and Tank were great secondary characters. I would have liked to have seen a little of the other couples in this series but even Hailey and Will only make the briefest of appearances. The conflict of what happens when Shane moves to K.C. seemed realistic as did both of their approaches to the problem. The ending was wonderful. I thought Valente might set the stage for a Tank-Stephanie romance but it didn’t happen. As this book was published over two years before I wrote this review I’m assuming it is the final book in the series so Tank and Stephanie will have had to find true love without Lili’s help.

Have you heard about fromance? No? Then you need to read this book to know all about it. Best friends to lovers romance with really cute initiatives from both ends.

Fromance, it was the best thing I've ever taken from this book so cheers to that.

The best friends to lovers story lines are on my top five favorites and I must say that after reading the previous books from this series, it was not what I expected. My expectation was actually way, way up there because for the love of god, the previous book 'Pucked Up Love' was impressive to me. It was like a step up from the 4th installment only to take two steps down when we got to the 6th one. Maybe the last book in this series did a number on me that's why I feel bad for not overly rejoicing after reading this one.

Look, it has been portrayed in the previous books from this series that Shane Wallace is not the brightest one out of all of them and he even thinks this is true but no one deserved a much happier ending than he does. It was like from the beginning up to the end I was rooting for him regardless of what he chooses to do. I feel like me and Shane could've been great friends if he was a real person. All traits of being a good friend is already with him and by this realization, I couldn't actually fault Bree for not seeing things further when they first bonded since he was really good at being a friend. STILL, it sucks that she went in to their relationship with motives instead of genuine feelings in the beginning.

Sometimes the things you thought was ideal and meant for you isn't always the case. Bree is around my age. Lili did so well in portraying her attitude and character. She is undecided but motivated, loyal and very much wants everything to just go well with her life no matter how crazy her ideas get. She just thinks just like how everyone on her age thinks. Some might consider this juvenile but it's definitely how the mind of a girl on her early 20s work. Though some characters have seen strong independence on their early 20s when portrayed in other books, it gives me satisfaction knowing that there are indeed characters like Bree, written just like how they should be acting.

There wasn't really a huge backstory to Bree and Shane's friendship. Maybe this was the whole reason why the start of this all was borderline boring. Not a little bit of a flash back or a huge memory or at least a small hint of how Bree saw Shane when she was still dating that guy whom she ended up in jail for from the previous book. Everything was just moving forward and I didn't even feel like it was the right time for Bree to confess her love to Shane when she did. It was confusing. She only started seeing him differently and she was definitely motivated by something else. This was why they were all hanging out. She had a motivation on why she was seeing Shane, it just didn't make sense how she could fall in love with him so quickly when she previously have mentioned not having a strong feeling for him except from that palpable chemistry and Shane's obvious advances to becoming more than a friend. Honestly, even on the previous book, not much was mentioned. However, the epilogue made me extremely happy. Giddy even. I loved loved the forever part! Honestly, the few chapters before the end was not all bad. The first parts were just not exciting for me.

Puck Buddies is the sixth book in the Bad Motherpuckers series by the fabulous and talented Lili Valente. I might be Lili's biggest fan and she just seems to be getting better and better. The writing, the unique plots, the sexy and fun characters. Just everything! Puck Buddies is Shane and Bree's story. Bree is Hailey's sister and Shane is Will's friend. Shane has been attracted to Bree since the minute he saw her. He asked her out and really wanted to date her, but she just wanted to be friends. So, friends they have been. They do so many things together. Tour and discover all Portland has to offer. Eat, drink and just have fun. Bree is a still a virgin and she wants Shane to help her with that. The kicker is she's allergic to semen. Deathly allergic. What starts as a drunken favor turns into Shane's greatest dream. To spend time with and sleep with his best friend. But Shane's been traded to another team. Thousands of miles away and this isn't going to be permanent. Shane and Bree want to spend all the time they have left together. Enjoying their new found relationship. But will Shane be able to leave Bree behind to follow his dreams? Will Bree let Shane go without a fight? I loved this story! It's my favorite of the series. There's just something about Bree and Shane and their openness and love for each other that got me right in the feels! Shane is big and sexy, but he's also sweet and just perfect. Bree is beautiful, funny with just the right amount of crazy! I loved the loyalty, friendship and sisterhood in this story. Overall, I laughed, cried, got hot and bothered and smiled. A lot!

One moment, there's enough room between us for the Holy Spirit, the next, he's pulled me so close my breasts are flattened against his powerful chest, and our hearts are pounding in time, and tingles are sweeping through me from head to toe and back again until I'm dizzy.

I need to woo you, Sabrina. It's my nature. After thinking about it, I don't think I can separate sex from wooing.

Shane: Awesome, but no poetry for me, please. I have a junior college degree in welding. I don't get poetry. It hurts my brain.

Puck Buddies is the sixth book in the Bad Motherpuckers series by one of my favorite authors, Lili Valente. I have read every single one of her books and loved them all. From her naughty to sweet reads and everything in between. Now, this is the sixth book but it can be read as a standalone. If you have read the previous books then you have met Bree (Hailey’s sister) and Shane (Will’s best friend/teammate).

Shane and Bree have been friends since they met at a BBQ last summer and over the last six months they have become the best of friends. Sharing their passion of bargain hunting, fun, and food. They also have something else in common. Want. They have been fighting it for what seems like forever. It’s now or never. Shane is moving to Kansas City in one month. Bree wants to lose her V card and she trusts Shane to give her what she not only wants but needs. She knows he will be safe with her. She also knows it would be nothing less than epic. But, can he handle the dangers? Bree is allergic to semen. Not only that, can he handle a summer fling? She doesn’t want to hurt him but she can’t do long distance.

Shane can’t believe the proposal Bree brings to him. He is so in especially after a spontaneous kiss on the dance floor. But, he can’t only think of himself. He has to think about her health. Her heart. She deserves something special for her first time. He doesn’t want to just be her booty call for the next month. He wants to woo her even if it’s only for the next four weeks. But, will that be enough? He is already crazy for her. Can they really do this?

You have to read it find out.

Overall...I absolutely loved this book. It’s my favorite from the series! Shane is so freakin’ sweet, funny, and swoony. Bree is beautiful inside and out. She is also quirky. I loved that about her. And them. Their weirdness. Unique banter. And fun conversations. They made me laugh so hard. They are also made me cry and flushed.

Quotes:

“You make me feel like a jar full of cookies.”

“Don’t be afraid to tell me what you want.”

“Good. But don’t apologize. It’s better if Sheldon never gets word of this. He can hold a grudge, and I really want you two to get along.”

The Bad Motherpuckers Series has become one of my ultimate favorite from the wonderful Lili Valente. Puck Buddies is the sixth installment and I just could not get enough of Bree and Shane. I love romances that start off as friends. Shane has had a secret crush on Bree for forever. Bree wanted to only be friends and Shane had accepted that they would only be the best of friends. That is until Bree came up with a proposition he couldn't say no to. Poor Bree had a rare and the weirdest of the weirdest allergies that has prevented her form being intimate with a man. She is allergic to semen and she is still a virgin because of it. When Bree realized that Shane would be moving far away she knew that her time with him was coming to and end. Who better to keep her safe and help her lose her V card then a man she calls a dear friend. So it was a no brainer that Shane would be the perfect man to help her out. Although they both agreed to no strings... emotions and attractions leads them down relationship road. As much as Bree fought to keep Shane at a distance and "just friends" title, he became so much more. What is to come of Bree and Shane when his time in Portland is done? Will they fight for one another and try to make it work thousand of miles apart?

I really loved Bree and Shane and the beautiful relationship they shared. They both are corny and cooky, funny and sweet and overall a lovable couple. Puck Buddies has become my favorite in this series. Lili Valente once again captured the essence of each character and drew me in with the humor, passion, trust, vulnerability and acceptance that Bree and Shane had for each other.

I love this series so hard! And Puck Buddies may just be my favorite story yet! Although it’s really hard to choose so you should definitely read them all!
I simply adore Shane & Bree!! Shane is the goalie for the Badgers. Bree is in school to one day become a psychologist. They are great friends.
What a fantastic pairing! Lili Valente really knows how to tell a fantastic story while mixing the heat, humor and emotion! Shane and Bree been friends for a long time but that’s it, they’ve only ever been friends. That is until they decide to have a buddies with bennies fling because Shane only has a short time left until he leaves for his new team in Kansas City. Shane has always wanted more with Bree so this is an opportunity he will not pass up. Bree has an interesting and unusual allergy so she has held onto her v-card and she wants nothing more than for Shane to be her first. She too has always had a thing for Shane.
See, perfect! Well except for the whole leaving for another team and all.
I love the whole fromance concept Shane comes up with and find their every interaction sweet, fun and enjoyable from their flea market trip, van camping , super hot sexy times and everyday hilarious banter. This is one couple who are truly made for each other and I just loved their story so much!

Are you ready for your next Book Boyfriend? Well Shane Wallace will fill that role for sure.

Shane Wallace, NHL hockey star goalie, antique collector of strange salt and pepper shakers and other unique items others have cast aside, and just all around dependable great guy.

Bree Marks, former model, bartender, student working toward her doctorate and virgin who is deathly allergic to sperm.

Do I have your attention? This is the best friends to lovers story. Shane has liked Bree for a long time and they have stayed in the friend zone which for Shane he is just happy to be around Bree. For Bree she typically goes for the more hipster type, not the jock muscled up guy like Shane but she loves being around him and going looking for antiques every weekend so when she hears Shane is moving in a month to another team she decides it is time to lose her dreaded V-card and who better to trust with her unique allergy than her bestie, Shane.

I loved this story. So well written, funny, and the hotness between these "buddies with bennies" will just melt you. The love Shane has for Bree shines through and it makes you want someone like Shane for your very own. Someone willing to go the distance and sacrifice for the one he loves. I received an early copy to read and review. Definitely 5 stars, I highly recommend this book.

This is a five-star read for me, despite some minor flaws, because this is the first one I've enjoyed as much as the series starter.

What are those flaws? Well, much like entry #5, the couple in question is basically already in love when the story starts, and we don't get to see much of a transition as they grow closer. (Though for very different reasons, as this is a friends-to-lovers story, not a second-chance romance.) And the ending...sigh. The ending. I know almost nothing about the nitty-gritty of player's contracts for hockey (or any other professional sport) but even I know how silly and preposterous that happy ending would be in reality.

Which doesn't fully negate the happiness, but still...

Anyway, I'm still giving it five stars, because Shane is fantastic; Bree is hilarious; they're actually totally believable as close/best friends before the romance starts; "fromance" may be a term I've only heard a handful of times and doesn't have the same cultural capital as "bromance," but I love it anyway and I'm now tempted to fromance-woo some of my friends whom I love; and also, Sheldon the hermit crab, who does not play a large role in the story but I am an absolute sucker for non-standard pets.

LOVED IT!!!! <3

I did not know that sort of allergy was real but it is(I learned something knew today). I Loved Bree and Shane!! They were really made for one another and they got one another. I am glad they finally got together seeing as Shane always had a thing for her but she turned him down thinking she wasn't good enough for him. I am also glad that Shane fought for their relationship because ... I wonder if there will a book on Tank and Yoda?! (Hopefully they deserve their own HEA too!)

Great READ but I wanted more!!!!!!(Maybe babies also the epilogue was definitely cute! but still wanted more of them ^.^)! :D <3

MUST READ!

I'm a huge fan of Lili Valente's. I love this book too and highly recommend. I have to share my FAVORITE quotes from this book with you. They shouldn't give too much away and should give you an idea of why you NEED to buy and read this book. This book and it's characters have a lot of soul and also makes you laugh out loud. I mean "Pegasus P*ssy"!🤣 (which by the way I had to "edit" the word "p*ssy" so that my review doesn't end up with it and me being put in Amazon jail) Thanks again for the awesome, stress relieving entertainment, Lili!❤❤❤❤

Quotes from Puck Buddies:

“So what, exactly, did you think was going to happen? That I’d catch a fit of the vapors and be possessed by unrequited love the moment your magic peen breached the walls of my trembling lady flower?”

“And what did you think was going to happen, Sabrina? That my self-respect would fly out the window the instant my poor lovesick peen made contact with your magical Pegasus p*ssy?”

"We talk about what it’s like to be old enough to realize you have no idea what you’re doing, but too young to be sure that life is ever going to be anything but hard and confusing."

🇸🇪 FUNKAR FRISTÅENDE! Obs.

Book 6 in the Bad Motherpuckers series has proven itself to be my favorite one in the series so far!! In this book we get a look inside Shane and Bree's love story.

Shane and Bree have known each other a while and are best friends. The go out together and search for antiques, his love is finding salt and pepper shakers. Even though he's a hockey player, he hopes to open an antique shop someday.

Bree is a virgin and needs to rid herself of it. Of course, Shane would be the safest choice since they are best friends. But, she doesn't want to risk losing him as a friend. Not to mention she has a strange allergy that could kill her. When she talks to Shane, after some deliberation, they decide to do it. He is the most caring man, making sure she's safe!! He went above and beyond what any man in "real life" would do. LOL Thank goodness for book boyfriends!!

This was a hot, sweet, friends to lovers story that had me captivated from the beginning!
