Family secrets, black tie galas, and forbidden love in one epic standalone romance.

I'm an American girl, through and through, with a sentimental side. He's a posh Englishman who only cares about the bottom line. He's absolutely maddening, and if he weren't the co-beneficiary of my grandfather's English estate I'd have nothing to do with him. Trust me, he feels the sa

Cara left England after the relationship between her mom and her grandfather fell apart when she was 7 years old. They never looked back and never talked to him again. But 20 years later Cara receives a call telling her that her grandfather Trevor and his wife Anna have passed away in a car accident. Now she has to go back to attend their funeral as a last Trevor's desire. What she never expected was being one of the major beneficiaries of Trevor's inheritance and also having to share it w

This beautifully written story switches between the viewpoints of Cara Montgomery and Reid Lewis as they deal with the death of her grandfather and his aunt. They inherit an estate in the English countryside and must decide which belongings they want to keep or get rid of in auction.

You will fall in love with the main characters and root for them in their struggles. They are both haunted by their pasts and struggle to deal with them together. Malouff hit this one out of the park. Every scene mak

This book had ALL the feels! It was fantastically written & had such a beautiful love story. I loved the realness of the relationship between Reid & Cara. I LOVED Reid. I loved watching him transform through his pain. I loved Cara’s strength and honesty. It’s a story that proves just how much love can do, and how much you can change for the better if you let love in. I read it in the matter of 24-hours because I didn’t want to put it down. I’ll definitely be nursing a book hangover for a ...more

This was a decent read. Cara and Reid are totally different people. Yet they somehow fall in love. They do have a rough ride. However they get there in the end. Which is important. They both deserved to be happy.

Be What Love Is was a fantastic read. It is set in California and England. The heroine’s grandfather passes away and she returns to her childhood home in England. She meets the hero, the co-beneficiary of her grandfather's English estate. It was not love at first sight. I enjoyed the enemies to lovers theme. I loved traveling over to England while reading. I really liked this book.

I voluntarily read an early copy.

Be What Love is follows Cara and Reid who are thrown into each other’s lives unexpectedly after a mutual loss.
With both coming from different backgrounds the struggle between the pair of them makes for an interesting read.
The writing is fantastic taking you on a rollercoaster of emotions.
If you are a fan of romance then this is the book for you. A truly satisfying read. Well done Ellie!

In Be What Love Is, we’re introduced to Reid and Cara who both receive horrible news. But when Cara gets the call about her estranged grandfather’s death, she’s instantly plucked from her life in San Diego and winds up in England. In all the locations in Be What Love Is, Malouff truly makes you feel like you are 100% there.

Cara learns she’s inherited an estate (the dream!) along with her soon-to-be love interest, Reid. As co-beneficiaries, their attraction and mistrust is instant and complex. Wh

Emotional, tempestuous, and gratifying, this book is what love is

This beautifully written tale switches between the perspectives of Cara Montgomery and Reid Lewis as they deal with the death of their grandfather and aunt, respectively, who have bequeathed their estate jointly to the pair. The sparks fly immediately, for better or worse, as they struggle not only with finding a path forward together, but each with their own history, objectives, and responsibilities.

Be What Love Is (Love Overseas #2) by Ellie Malouff
Cara and Reid thought they had their lives all figured out. Then love got in the way. Be What Love Is is for the romantic that hides within our souls. A modern day tale of epic proportions told with an emotion that speaks volumes about the true meaning of a small word that is larger than life. Malouff turns an uphill battle into a sentimental war. With dueling first hand viewpoints and an abundance of heart Be What Love Is speaks to every bel

I devoured this story in about a day and thoroughly enjoyed it. Reid was hot and broody. He was beautifully damaged without coming off as an a*hole, and that’s a hard line to walk for an alpha male character. Cara was very relatable and likable too. I also really loved the attention given to the settings. It was just the right balance of rich description without overkill. The element of grief was also written extremely well, which is no easy task. I’ll definitely be adding this author to my must ...more

I couldn't put this book down. I loved it from start to finish. There were a few points where the hero was almost a little too violent for me, but otherwise, it was a great romance read.

Ellie Malouff has a knack for painting such vivid portraits of the world she's creating for her stories that you can't help but feel like you're there. I felt as though if I breathed deeply enough I might catch a whiff of that English country air.

In this book, Cara Montgomery leaves England when she's a child only to return as a twenty- something to attend her grandfather Trevor's funeral. They're estranged but through no fault of hers. Upon meeting Reid, her grandfather's nephew by mar

What is there not to love about this book?! It has a hot British man, a strong female lead, laugh out loud moments, family secrets, moments to keep the reader on the edge of their seat, steamy romance, enemies to lovers theme and did I mention plenty of that England appeal? I am ready to pack my bags and go to England myself.
This is the story of Reid and Cara. Reid's aunt and Cara's grandfather were a couple that died and left everything to them. For Reid they were the couple that took him in w

While Ellie Malouff is a relatively newer author, as this was her second book, this was the first story that I read by her, and I enjoyed it as it kept me turning the pages. Cara is an English girl, who got transplanted in America when she was younger. Her mother made sure that she cut her family out, so Cara hasn't seen her beloved Grandfather either. When he dies, she's contacted that she has inherited half of everything, so off to England she goes, but not for the money. When she gets there, ...more

A saga, so beautifully written, the emotions so intimately expressed, makes it hard not to fall in love..

As it is said, opposites attract, Cara and Reid 's love saga is the perfect example. They meet under unexpected circumstance, upon their grandfather and grandmother's death respectively. At first, they both butt their heads but slowly and steadily they fall for each other's charm. The ride towards their HEA is although bumpy with potholes, but worth the hard drive.

This is the first book that I've read by this author & boy was I not disappointed.

This book is full of twists & turns on every page & the descriptive way this author has written this novel, made me totally immerse myself within the story & not want to stop reading!

The instant chemistry between Reid & Car a was completely undeniable & I fell in love with them both immediately.

This story is intense to say the least. It encapsulates real life & real issues. At points I h

Gah! I wish I could give it more stars. This book definitely pulls at your heartstrings. When the characters dive into the reasons why they were brought together besides the death of a grandfather and aunt. The house holds so many memories for Cara and alot of it is sentimental to her while Reid sees it as just stuff. Cara and Reid are just perfect for one another. He was so closed off from everything love included and Cara just wanted to forgive her grandfather in his death. They had a love/hat ...more

A beautifully written story told in dual POV'S switches between the perspectives of Cara and Reid as they deal with the death of her grandfather and his aunt leaving the bequeathed their estate jointly to the pair. The sparks fly are immediate but denied as they struggle finding a path forward. It turns this into a enemies to lovers theme with great secondary characters with the chemistry that does not want to be denied. Add twists outside forces and super sexy times you end with an awesome stor ...more

The book is a good romance read. The story is a modern day tale of good proportions that is told with an emotion that speaks volumes about the true meaning of a small world that is larger than life. The story will speak to every one that is a believer in love whether it be romantic, familial, and platonic. The story will show the reader that even the most jade of hearts deserves that happy ending.

I haven’t read a really good sweet angsty romance in a while and this one was really good. Reid and Cara are fabulous characters. I found the dual point of view perfectly written. I so enjoyed knowing what was going on in each characters mind. Beautifully written story with characters you will fall in love with.

Sweet, sexy, fun fantasy-come-true! I loved immersing myself in the Sussex countryside with a gorgeous man and a beautiful estate. Knowing I can reconnect with these characters in other exciting settings - Hawaii, Ireland - was like getting a gift! Can't wait to check out the rest of the Overseas series.

I loved this story. It made me cry, made me anxious and made me smile. I would have loved to give it 5 stars, but the typos in all 3 books have driven me crazy. Just as a moment is flowing in the story, I got tripped up by misprints. Its too frustrating to not mention it. Overall the story was wonderful, the characters felt real and left me wanting even more of their stories.

This was an ok read for me. I had a hard time connecting with the main characters. They felt like a caricature of the brash outspoken American woman and the stiff stoic British man that didn’t really work for me.
